there. i can tell you guys, you're in great company. if you have to commute this morning, that's the one good thing about having to work on a friday, your commute, almost effortless today. >> people taking the day off. >> yes, that silver lining, meisha. >> oh, you know, great day to take off work today, maybe play a little hooky, leave early? that's not my recommendation, though, don't blame me. but beautiful conditions, once again, after hot and humid start to the work week. record high temperatures on wednesday, then yesterday, so much improvement. feeling fall-like. now we're waking up to some of the coolest temperatures, and about three months time, 06 degrees, in philadelphia, is our coolest, since june 18th. down right chilly, up toward the lehigh valley at 47 degrees, in the poconos, we are teetering on falling down into the 30's, so, might even need that winter coat in the higher elevations, temperature change over the last 24 hours on the order of five, ten, 15 degrees, with this cooler and drier air in place. and it will be comfortable once again today. but the humidity will start to

creep back up. in the a difference as we head into tomorrow. you'll definitely notice a difference as we head into sunday, kind of steam factor returning. but then, as we head into monday, it is going to get increasingly more comfortable on the back side after cold front. and fall starts off next week, so we'll let you know what type of weather to expect for that coming up in just a couple of every minutes, meisha? >> thank you so much. and happy friday everybody. good morning, looking outside at 95 south at cottman. so, this is what we are starting to see. i would say one of the bus years stretches, and particularly right here coming around this s curve right here seeing some brake lights go off. then it kind of eases tension both before that and after that. so right here, where we are seeing slow downs, going to get little busy through the 6:00 hour interstate 95 it always does, no matter what day of the week that it is, but for now, kind of holding steady here, as you can see, however, if you are jumping out to interstate 95, i would say, maybe, maybe, give yourself couple of extra minutes, new jersey 42 freeway at creek road, 295, what you are looking at again.

one of the areas that's heating up little bit, kind of holding steady here, what we're seeing on a lot of the highways, interstates, kind of leaning toward the heating up and then just kind of holding stead any there. blue rut headlights moving in the southbound direction at media swarthmore, looking here, blue route actually looking real good this morning, guys. we do have accident out there, whitemarsh, flourtown road, joshua road, one lane blocked, there jim, back over to you. >> thanks, meisha a new this morning, armed robber holds up a pastor and his family in the city's frankford section. >> but it is the would be thief that actually got quite the surprise when the pastor's wife pulled out her own gun. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo is live outside their church in frankford where the pastor is now talking about this frightening encounter. good morning, jan. >> rahel, jim, good morning, what scary night for this pastor and his family. see the church, st. james church, entire family lives right next-door. police say they came home last night, a man approached them with a rifle, tried to rob them, but the pastor and his wife actually are licensed to carry, so she pulls out her

gun and shot in self-defense. take a listen to the moment leading right up to that. >> tried to grab my wallet. and i turned like i would get my wallet, but just stalling, and he hit me hard in the back of the head with the gun. swung it like a baseball bat. and then everything was like lightning for a minute. and then i heard my wife saying drop the gun, drop the gun, she's got her gun. and he turned toward her and i said shoot him. shoot him. and she shot him. >> now this all happened right around 11:00 last night here on the 1,000 block of pratt street in frankford. the 48 year old pastor, his 38 year old wife, and their 12 year old son, had just come home from a concert, as they exited their car and were about to walk-in side their home. police say they were approached that man with a rifle who demanded money. the pastor tells us he actually struggled with the suspect at first, but he didn't want his son to get. who he back off. that's when his wife took out her gun and shot so this was a scary situation. police say the suspect then

ran, ditched his rifle under a parked car, and then got away by jumping on to the running board of passing suv. police say that driver likely had nothing to do with the robbery. now, police say, the suspect was described as wearing orange shorts, with white stripe. so they decided to check out area frankford hospital which is just about a mile away to see if he showed up therefore treatment. guess what? they found him right outside. so he is under arrest this morning, meantime the family shaken up, but physically okay. still this pastor fears this story could have ended differently. >> it was extremely crazy. like when we got our gun, we are like we got him but we hope we never have to use it. but if it is there, you know, if it ever comes up, you are like, if it comes down to my family or him, it is him. i'm sorry. you know? i don't feel bad about that. >> now, the suspect only described as 66 year old man who is being treated for the gunshot wounds to his leg, and in custody this morning, northeast detectives is investigating. live in frankford, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness

news", rahel, jim, back to you. >> what a crazy story, glad the family is okay, thank you. >> meanwhile, in other news the investigation continues this morning into a deadly head-on crash in dover involving a delaware state trooper. now there is happened last night on route one, southbound, near exit 98. police say a chevy driven by 77 year old man was going in the wrong way in the southbound lanes. his car collided head-on with a delaware state police cruiser, driven by a 22 year old trooper. the driver of the car, who is not wearing a seatbelt, was killed, and the trooper was air lifted from the scene with non-life threatening injuries. almost two weeks after being shot in the head, atlantic city police officer emerges from the hospital, and is greeted by a cheering crowd. officer josh fidel, gave thumbs-up, waived, when he was row less dollars by atlantic care regional medical center. will now spend the time at a rehab facility.

he waist shot september thirds while responding to a robbery outside the ceasar's parking garage. a new york city police detective will be okay, after being attack with a meat clever. it happened during rush hour yesterday near penn station. investigators say the detective was helping officers subdue the suspect, who was apparently trying to remove a parking boot from his car. suspect slashed the detective in the face during the struggle. officers fired nearly 20 shots shooting the suspect, he's now in critical condition. another officer suffered a graze wound. >> jurors in the trial will be selected from chester count any march, accused every killing pennsylvania state police corporal brian dixon during ambush in the poconos in 2014. frein of course led authorities on 48 day manhunt before he was finally captured. his trial will be in lehigh count. >> i just just -- now just 52 days until election. hillary clinton and donald trump in a virtual dead heat.

all ice on donald trump to see whether he publicly denounces his long held obama birth belief. campaign put out statement saying trump believes baum was born in the u.s. but as hena daniels report, hillary clinton's campaign is not buying it. >> trump apparent slip flop on the birth eric ooh came after rival hillary clinton blasted his refusal to renounce the idea when he was interviewed by the washington post wednesday. >> he was asked one more time. where was president obama born? and he still wouldn't say hawaii. he still wouldn't say america. this man wants to be our next president? >> hours later trump's campaign released this statement pointing the finger at clinton for raising the issue in 2008 when she was running against then candidate obama. the campaign then credited

trump for helping resolve the matter. adding, having successfully obtained president obama's birth certificate, when other could not, mr. trump believes that president obama was born in the united state. >> clinton returned to the campaign trail in north carolina yesterday. calling trump out for criticizing a pastor in flint, michigan. stopped him from getting political inside her church. he called her a nervous mess. that's not only insulting, it is dead wrong. >> jobs, jobs, jobs. >> after delivering remarks on his economic plan in new york, the republican nominee traveled to new hampshire and took clinton to task, for calling his supporters deplorable last week. >> hillary clinton slanders you as deplorable and irredeemable. >> with less than two month to the election, cbs news new york times pole has clinton and trump lock in a virtual tie. >> hena daniels, for cbs-3,

at this point. temperatures right now, we are cool to start on this friday morning. no rain in the scene there. little twilight. about half hour away from official sunrise in philadelphia, winds out of the northeast at around 6 miles per hour. we have some down right chilly temperatures across the region this morning, starting off after 47 degrees, and in allentown, close to 30's in the poconos, 53 degrees right now in millville, 54 in ac. dew point, showing us dry air settled in throughout the day yesterday. what a beautiful day. and again today. nice and comfortable as we head throughout our friday. just beauty in store, mostly sunny, 79 degrees, for our high temperature. and tonight, looking good for all of your friday night plans. mostly clear, cool, falling back to 60 degrees. you can leave those windows open up once again tonight. some great sleeping weather in store. checking in on the tropics, do have tropical storm julia sitting off, southeastern coastline, going to hang out, there kind of me around err then eventually dissipate. not causing a problem for the united state, also tropical storm ian, headed out to the

off, and won't let it pass. fed ex says it is looking into the matter while the school bus company has already fired the driver. police are investigating. >> a tense situation unfolds in lancaster just north of los angeles. police are after a man wanted for attempted murder, but they have a special tool on their side. the suspect was hiding out behind some thick brush, was armed with a shotgun. on scene, special robot, so deposition use i -- deputy used the robot. >> the robot able to grab the gun without him noticing it, back up out of the way and deliver that gun to the waiting deputy. >> and when the man realized his gun had been taken away, he quickly surrendered. deputies say they don't know of any other situation in which a robot has been able it disarm a suspect quite like that. >> still ahead on "eyewitness news" this morning, eagles quarterback carson wentz talk about how he stays focused ahead of the monday night showdown in chicago.

in control, just couple of passing clouds, and for today, practically perfect once again. sunny skies, high temperatures in the upper 70s, low humidity, and nice light winds meisha. but we do have chance every rain in the weekend forecast, talk more about that coming up. >> laura, thank you so much. you guys, so far we're doing okay. but i will say, some things have popped up. the boulevard southbound before broad street. see it is blocking lane although now it looks like it is more push off to the grass. what you will probably get because levels are starting to builds now, probably get little gaper delay. we can expect that now, the amount of vehicles out there. but it does look like the right lane is somewhat compromised right about here. you might have to zig-zag around that. make note that you know the accident is out there. the good news is not dark any more out there. we do have some people out on foot. schuylkill eastbound beyond the conshohocken curve, looking at both moving in the eastbound and westbound side. see that it is again i want to say heating up, but really

just kind of more holding steady here on the schuylkill. so the schuylkill actually looking okay. still traveling at posted speeds there. 995 south before girard, what you are looking at here. we've been watching interstate 95 push in the southbound direction basically all morning long, again kind of like the schuylkill, same story there. kind of holding steady at these levels right there. so if you were waiting to maybe move out there little later i can tell you everything holding steady except for blue route. headlights moving in the northbound direction, this is past route one, i can let you know one of the areas you're know longer traveling at posted speeds evidence by that picture, rahel, back over to you. >> thank you. armed robber holds up pastor and his family in the city frankford section. but it is quite the surprise. police say when he, his wife and son came home, a man pointed a rifle in their faces and demanded cash but his wife the pastor's wife pulled out her own gun. it happened around 11:00 last night. in the 1,000 block of pratt street. police say the wife shot the suspect in the leg. he ran away. but was taken into custody short while later. >> well, authorities in two

new jersey counties are asking for your help finding a serial bank robber. police say the suspect robbed two banks in camden county yesterday morning, and both robberies he pulled a gun, demanded money, and got away on foot with a unknown amount of cash. investigators say the same suspect may have robbed a gloucester township bank last week, if you have any information, please call the police right away. and meanwhile, federal alcohol, tobacco firearms agent searching for the burglars who have stolen more than dozen guns from a mayfair gun store. authorities say 17 firearms, including 12 handguns, have been stolen from locks felled gun exchange over the past three weeks. there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest. well, still ahead on "eyewitness news" this morning: ukee lands an interview with local 98 union boss, john dougherty. hear how he says johnny doc handled the questions about his federal investigation. and plus: the case of jonbenet ramsey, it has been 20 years since found murdered.

why with you? >> i think now, jim, because, you know, everyone saw what happened at his home at the union hall of the locations when it came to the f.b.i. and the probe that is going on. but i think he wanted to get his message out, and get it out maybe as soon as he can. and i think he chose me because johnny doc and i go back 20, 25 years, acquaintances, done a lot of charity event together, gone to sporting event together. and i've seen them a lot over the years. he knows if i did the interview, i'm positive that he knows it i am deaf letter search for some facts. but also be fair. now, he can't -- he didn't say as much as a lot of people probably wanted him to say, but he can't. because it is still in fbi investigation. >> what was the temperature in the room? is he anxious? is he concerned? >> he was very uncomfortable with the process, but, when he walked in the building, he came with his signature, you know, open collar shirt, wearing shorts, casual shoes, and he was very calm, but once

we started talking about the probe and the investigation, could you tell he was bothered. he was frustrated. he even said he's very un happy about it, especially when it comes to his family, his friends, all of the people that work for him. he is a philly guy. he wants to represent the city. when something like this happens, when the fbi comes knocking at this door, he want to get his message out. >> well, you've seen him at many different charity events, all around town. is he concerned about his image? >> i'm sure he is. i'm sure he is. as i mentioned, his family and friends have talked to him, and he gets a lot of support still to this day from his family and friends. he knows he has a strong image in this community. he built that growing up in south philadelphia. and he wants to keep that intact. no matter what it takes. and i had some what happened, what does he want to happen in the end. he had some interesting things to say, hopefully we'll be able to talk to him again, keep following up on this, because he has the trust in

>> she is down there looking for the iphone this morning. >> pat, thank you. one of the most high pro fill cases to go unsolved in recent history. >> now 20 years after the tragic murder every jonbenet ramsey, original investigators are back together to re-examine the case. the three part dock ooh series premiers this sunday night on cbs-3. i spoke with tom foreman and retired fbi expect agent and profiles jim clemente about the case. >> so tom first off there is case grabbed national headlines at the time. i remember covering it as a news reporter. now, 20 years ago, why did you want to do this project and how did it come together? >> sure. i mean, this happened by accident. five or six months ago, not that long ago in it. v time, weaver been working pretty fast. jim clemente came to me and said he was frustrated. he had investigated the case as an f.b.i. agent, and felt like he hadn't had the access to the evidence. felt like he hadn't been table do the investigation he wanted to do. and said he felt like a lot of his colleagues felt the same way. that fed the resources of

large television program, if they were able to go back and re-investigate the jonbenet ramsey homicide, they might enable to make real progress for the first time in 20 years that was interesting to mow. >> jim, were you one of the original investigators. for the series, you folks meticulously rebuilt key rooms in the ramsey house. why do that? what was it like to be in those rooms again? >> well, actually rebuilt the entire floor of this resident. we did it because the current home has been renovated many times since 1996. we actually had to recreate the crime scene from the videos and photographs taken on that day. and being in that home, a picture tells awe thousand words being in there tells you million words. we could actually look at the spatial, how people got in and out of the rooms, and how they interacted. it actually told us a tremendous amount about the theories, we were able to prove and disprove theories because of that. also, go back to any crime

scene, especially one in which a six year old girl is killed. it is incredibly moving. and erie. it was like sort of walking into a memorial or a tomb. >> looking back now are there clues you think investigators missed at the time? >> oh, absolutely, no question about it. the fact is that with new technology, with experts from various different fields, who all look at it from a different perspective, and with advances in behavioral analysis and understanding of evidence, we were able to move this case dramatically forward. >> well, tom, the documentary will include new experts reviewing the case. what expertise did they bring and were there any new clues discovered? >> sure. both the investigators talked to people, they'd never spoken before. they had tests that were never done before. either because they weren't allowed to do them the first time around or the technology didn't exist. and with every step of their investigation, they uncover new evidence and get closer to the truth. >> jim, do you feel you're any
