investigators are trying to piece together a exactly what the motive was, behind this alleged attack. we have exclusive video to show you now from our sister station w cbs in new york city. it allegedly shows rahami wheeling a back down the street as he walked manhattan's chelsea neighborhood on saturday. now you will remember a pressure cooker bomb exploded, that night in that area, injuring 29 people. another device, exploded that same day, in seaside park, new jersey. no one was injured there. earlier today we have talked to new jersey senator corry booker and he told reporters that these attacks will not define america. >> this is not only action in america but we will combat this. we will put incredible resources, utilizing coordination every incident that happens we learn more and we get better. so, i feel strong with the what challenges us. we cannot react with fear but

with strength and courage. >> reporter: discovery of five other explosive devices at a train station here ine list both not far from where i'm's standing right now expect rail traffic up and down northeast corridor today. bomb squad is here worked to disarm those bombs, one went off as a robot was disarming it but again in one was injured by any of the five device is here in elizabeth. now the suspect was captured in linden, new jersey, cleve bryan has more on that. >> reporter: witnesses describe the scene with shots being fired as a suspect and police were running down the streets in linden. authorities say all that started with a business owner reporting suspicious activity. >> a guy with the blue you hoodie on. >> reporter: jazz massa was working from the auto shop to the corner store where he saw a man sleeping in the doorway of the tavern. he didn't think too much about it until bar owner walk up,

feeling concerned. >> i said that is the bombing suspect. i said how do you know. he said that is him, that is him. i said call the cops then. >> reporter: around 10:45, two linden police office's arrived and recognized it was the bombing suspect ahmad rahami. authorities say he had a gun and started shooting at the officers. >> they exchanged gunfire one officer was struck in the abdomen, but into his bullet-proof vest. the other had some glass that struck his forehead but not into his skull. >> reporter: shooting continued for more than a block on elizabeth avenue in linden. >> we seen him right between the telephone pole and the brown van and then a lot of gunfire. >> reporter: police shot rahami at least once in the leg and able to take him in custody. fbi says this is a case of the community being eyes and ears that they need after releasing a picture. >> we turned to the general public this morning by utilizing that picture and getting that picture out there so general public could assist

us. >> this is crazy. you are not safe today. >> reporter: fbi says now that they have ra ham any custody they will build out his network to see if he has any terrorist associations. in linden i'm cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". back here in elizabeth you can see the scene behind me fbi agents have been here all day. i talk to someone who lives across the street from that home. they said they heard them coming in early this morning and they have been here throughout the day. also people from the neighborhood have come by to check in. some people said that they don't really live by here but they want to see what is going on. people trying to figure out just what happened here. ukee, this investigation will go on for a while. back to you. >> jessica, thanks very much. we will see you later. the events in new jersey and new york led to security changes closer to home in our area "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden is in center city right now with more on that, joe, good

evening. >> reporter: good evening, law enforcement in philadelphia and this area had already been on edge following the events of friday night, including that gun bat and rampage in west philadelphia where two police officers were shot. now the developments this morning and police emphasized unassuming discovery a phone call to police that something did not look right, led to that arrest. there will be increased patrols and additional k-9 units across septa regional rail lines and stations. officials made the announce. at an afternoon news conference. >> you will see more police throughout the region. it will be a higher row file. >> reporter: thomas nestel under score agency has not received any threats. they have been in close contact with the departments in north jersey and new york. one thing he said that is clear, police rely on the public for critical information. >> there has been great success this weekend with average citizens, you know, joe citizen calling 911 and saying there is something suspicious here. that is how we protect people.

>> reporter: at philadelphia police headquarters. >> we stress importance of making that even if call. >> reporter: lieutenant john stanford emphasized value of people calling 911 to report suspicious activity. the department had already ramped up security in the wake of the friday's shooting rampage. sergeant sylvia young, a university of pennsylvania officer edward miller, were wounded after investigators say nicholas glenn, carried out a hate fueled attack on police. police say even the smallest of events, could be tied to larger incidents. >> you don't know if those incidents are connect or not. instead of waiting until we get additional information and finding out that they are connected in some way, we prefer that phone call. >> reporter: police emphasize that this is success in the fight against war on terror. they can point to the arrest this morning and also boston marathon bombings arrest many years ago. they say that they expect volume in 911 calls to stay

about a being to the west we had a couple showers start to pop up around poconos. those have since fizzled. not a whole lot happening. heaviest off to the south and it will continue to move to the north over the next several hours, so if you are in cape may county, through delaware beaches, that is where we will start to sees wet weather, resuming, after a very, very, very rainy day, lets look at doppler estimated rainfall totals. anything orange is 3 inches. that including cumberland county, atlantic county, cape may county and kent and sussex counties in delaware. some spots over 4 inches of rain. we did need rain but that much, that quickly did cause risk for flooding. we had reports of flooding, back bay flooding and road closures down the shore. generally speaking heaviest is over. 2:00 a.m. we had lingering showers this front is slow to clear. so tomorrow more sunshine to the north and west, more cloud cover to the south and east. cloudy showery day down the shore. we will see cloud break up throughout the city and then wednesday everybody clears out and we have got a beautiful final day of summer, if you

before we leave you tonight the we want latest on the terrorism from both new york and new jersey. jessica dean is in elizabeth, new jersey to bring you up to date, jessica? >> well, ukee as it stand right now that suspect 28 year-old ahmad rahami is in custody and he was arrested after a shoot-out with police in nearby linden, new jersey. we, of course are in elizabeth, new jersey right now. he is a naturalized citizens originally born in afghanistan. he has lived here since he was a child. earlier today we want to show you exclusive video we got from our sister station wcbs that shows rahami walking through manhattan on saturday before that dumpster explosion in chelsea. fbi says that evidence has linked ra ham toy that blast, hi left 29 people injured and then another blast in see side arc, new jersey. that also happened on saturday but did not injure anyone. the as of this morning he was shot in the leg during that gun battle with police. he has since under gone
