live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. new this morning, a man is critically injured in a hit-and-run, house police were able to track down the car, how they'll now use it to track down the driver. >> a man want in the connection with bombings in new york and new jersey is now charged with attempted murder. we'll show you what police say they'll do next in the investigation. and the eagle take the win in chicago the big moments that helped them come out top over the bears. good morning for everybody, today is tuesday, september 20th, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm brooke thomas. meisha will give us a update on the roads,. >> brooke, great to have you

back. i have to say a lot of happy people will be so pumped today hitting the roadways, even sipping their cough app, we don't care, the eagles won. kids, screw, that don't want to go to school today. but overall roads are good. >> and we had heavy rain around yesterday, much drier today, maybe get shower or two down at the shore, that's about it, but still going to be muggy. sitting in this warm humid air mass, really for the next 24 hours or so. really temperatures stay above average as we head officially into the fall season which arrives just two days from now. but still feeling like summer. temperatures in the 60s in some of the far northwest suburbs, up in the lehigh valley, 07 around philadelphia, issue with some fog, going north and wells every town with this muggy air mass in last, moisture lingering around, visibility less than half mile up in berks county, reading, .8 of a mile in allentown, be aware of fog, early this morning, should dissipate to the afternoon. dew points telling the story, still, somewhat of a

tropical-like air mass, especially south of the city, dew point running at around 70. that's pretty uncommon for this time of year. clouds linger across the region today. should see little sunshine, don't expect whole lot. still showers lingering just off shore. some of those could get into parts of coastal new jersey and delaware through the morning into the afternoon. but there you go, temperatures well above average. mid 80s for philadelphia, 70s at the shore, more sunshine up in the poconos. but little taste of fall coming in our forecast in the seven day. we'll get to that coming up in just a few minutes. meisha? >> anybody better than yesterday with all of the rain, granted we needed it, but it will be so nice to have 84 today. thanks, good morning, happy tuesday. all right, so we have a vine closure here, westbound and eastbound still closed between the schuylkill and broad. getting used to this construction project. right now still closed also construction on 95 northbound between ridley park and 420. see how heavy this is already, only 4:30, still very dark out

there, already, causing some pretty significant slow downs through this construction point. again, 95 northbound between ridley park and 420. if i were you, i would give yourself extra time. downed pole robinsville, route 130 past church lane, closed there. more construction 42, both directions between 295 and route 544, traffic shift, so we'll be having lane shifts there, more construction 295 both directions between 42 and route 168. again, some lanes shifting going on, there as women. also, some fun stuff. there you go. white sox versus phillies at 7:05, ac/dc concert, this could cause you to slow down maybe later on this evening, brooke, over to you. >> thanks, meisha. new this morning, philadelphia police are looking for a hit-and-run driver, who left a man critically injured in rhawnhurst overnight. >> investigators already have an important clue, "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo, joins us live from fly and bustleton. >> good morning, no driver in custody just yet. they do believe they found the

striking vehicle, and they were able to catch up with that car with the help of eyewitnesses, who saw everything that happened here in this bank parking lot late last night. they say they saw this car speed off. they spotted the vehicle's tag, first, how much, then called police. that's what led investigators just about a mile away to the 7,000 block of rutland street. police use the tag to find out who this car is registered to, and the home it is registered to. so they immediately found the car park there, and unattended with heavy windshield damage. now, police are looking for the driver. no one in custody just yet, however. this hit-and-run happened around 11:00 p.m. in the wells fargo bank parking lot at the corner of bustleton and blie. police say 48 year old man who lives half block away was hit and taken to aria-torresdale where he is critically, currently, in critical condition. at this point police don't know if he will survive. he has severe head trauma. meanwhile, back out here live on scene, the accident investigation district is headed up this investigation.

there are actually several surveillance cameras at this bank, and at nearby businesses, so police are hoping they'll help in this investigation. they're also securing the scene where the striking vehicle was located. they'll be dusting the vehicle for print, to try to figure out who the last person driving was. but again, what they do have good clues in this case, they have what they believe to be the striking vehicle right now that man who was hit, 49 year old, in the hospital in critical condition. we'll continue to keep you up-to-date. for now live in rhawnhurst, jan carabeo, back to you. >> meanwhile, authority searching for motive in series of bombings in new york and new jersey after violent shoot-out yesterday police arrested ahmad khan rahami. >> the 28 year old faces a list of charges, including attempted murder. karen with the latest from new york as federal prosecute coaster soon add terror charges to that long list. >> reporter: a new jersey resident capturing the moments right before ahmad khan rahami would get into a shoot-out

with police. on monday morning, the nypd and f.b.i. released a photo of are hammy, and in a matter of hours in custody after shoot-out with police. >> now that we have the suspect in custody, investigations can focus on other aspect such as whether this individual acted alone, and what his motivations may have been. >> the 28 year old suspect believed to be seen on surveillance cameras near the chelsey bombing site rolling a duffle bag, naturalized u.s. citizen from afghanistan. the the explosion left 29 people injured, all released from the hospital. back pack of explosive last found at his home in elizabeth, new jersey. and they tracked him down from linden. during a weaken already demands greater security here, un general assembly brought number of world leaders, foreign dignitaries to town, including president obama. >> i in particular want to

give a heartfelt thanks to the new jersey police officers, just one more reminder of the extraordinary skill and sacrifice and courage of our law enforcement officers. >> in manhattan, karen kaffa. >> those incidents, new york and new jersey, have led to increased security in philadelphia. as a precaution, septa has added more patrols and additional k9 units across regional rail lines and stations. septa's chief says the agency is nos received any threats, but made it clear police rely on the public for critical information. >> there has been great success this weekend with average citizens, joe citizen, calling 911, and saying there is something suspicious here t that's how we protect people. >> at philadelphia police headquarters officers also emphasize the importance of people actually calling 911 to report suspicious activity. the department is already ramped up security in the wake

of friday's shoot that hurt officers edward miller and sylvia young in west philadelphia. in other news this morning, mother and two others were shot in broad daylight in south philadelphia. it happened yesterday, at around 4:30, at 18th and wharton. police say 32 year old mother was pushing her baby boy in a stroller, when she was shot in the arm. thankfully, the baby wasn't hurt, 62 year old woman nearby was also shot multiple times nearby in her leg, and 40 year old shot in the leg, as well, all victims expected to survive. police are unsure if any of the victim were the intended target or just got caught in the crossfire. >> one of the officers snot west philadelphia friday night is out of the hospital and talking about what happened. miller attended benefit thrown near the paternal order of police, the former philadelphia police officer is still healing for being shot in the elbow, the hip and ankle, by suspect, nicholas glenn. investigators say, glenn

george president bush will not confirm or deny whether he plans to vote for hillary clinton. the daughter of the late robert kennedy and former maryland lieutenant governor, posted this photograph on facebook, showing herself with the 41st president, the post reads, the president told me he's voting for hillary. the president spokesperson said his vote is private. and he won't comment on the race. >> clinton in town yesterday speaking at temple university. in the wake of bombings, in new york and new jersey, she accused donald trump of giving, quote, aid and comfort to islamic terrorists. she told reporters trump anti-muslim rhetoric helped groups like isis recruit new fighters. trump has proposed temporarily banning muslim immigrants from entering the united state. in florida trump shot back, he told a crowd in fort myers, talked tough berries supporters, than she does about islamic terrorism.

clinton has called some of his supporters deplorable, racist, and sexist. trump proposes tighter immigration security to fight terrorism if he is elected, trump is expected to attends a rally in chester, delaware county, thursday. >> well, you can mark this under the strange but true category. a california business owner is shocked after finding out that someone stole his fake lawn. police say this isn't the first turf fest. the missing piece is a little bigger than a king size mattress there is was actually concord garden equipment's second turf theft this year. police say in may, an elderly woman also had most of her artificial lawn ripped off. police say they don't know why anyone would want to steel the turf, after all, you can't sell it to anybody. maybe it is someone in our area, because all of the lawns are dying? >> i could use some tour in my yard, my ground, i mode the lawn actually last week, been a while, just a cloud of dust everywhere, and i was covered with it. >> and yesterday the rain was

day today. still, clouds over us right now. some left over showers, this little storm system just kind of hanging offer the coast, maybe shower or two in south jersey today, but majority of us stay dry. more sunshine the further north and west you are, this afternoon, then tonight mainly dry, clear things out tomorrow. most areas seeing more sunshine, and we will stay on the warm side. check it out. mid 80s today, tonight, still warm, 60 to 70 degrees tomorrow, even couple of degrees warmer topping off around 86 for philadelphia. so for today, clouds, with some sunshine, 84 degrees, tonight, it is still on the warm side, mostly clear, 68, here is the extended forecast, 80s all the way through saturday, but meisha, little change there, sunday, monday, talking low 70s. >> yes is that correct a welcome change for you, justin? >> little warm. >> i like to keep the 80s around, too, great day. happy tuesday. so we do have some construction here, northbound, ridley park and 420, see how many backups are starting to kind of accumulate behind us

right now. this is very early construction, not even 5:00 in the morning, still very dark outside obviously, but yikes, if you have to end they are, definitely give yourself extra time, i would say at least 30 minute or so to stay on the safe side. we'll keep looking at this and see where it clears, what you are working with on nine # a. vine is let's see looks like just opening now on the westbound side, eastbound side, shortly going to follow. so looking good on the vine. slowly opening up there. schuylkill, taillights moving in the eastbound direction this past girard, both the eastbound and westbound side, looking good, looking just what we would want on the schuylkill on bus what i we know will be busy tuesday morning. downed pole here from earlier accident, robinsville, new jersey, this is route 130 southbound past church road. that right lane is still block. you want to give yourself couple of extra minutes in this area, as well, brooke, jim, back to you. >> big news in atlantic sit. >> i coming up after a failed effort over the summer, the owners of the rebel -- revel say they're re-opening the resort. what's that expected to happen and why it will be different from the resorts that opened

>> welcome back, this morning learning that the revel casino in atlantic ultimately reopen as ten, the new name for the resort according to the press of atlantic city, the property owners are planning to reopen the resort in early 2017, should they receive approval from the state, which the owners are saying they expect to receive. now the revel casino opened in 2012 before it went bankrupt and shutdown in 2014. time now 4:50. time as always for a check on business news. >> mine watch's jill wagner joins us live this morning, from the new york stock exchange. good morning, jill. let's start with this pretty important recall, parents may need to know about. >> reporter: that's right, kellogg is recalling about 10,000 cases of eggo neutra gain whole wheat waffles in 25 states, the company says that routine tests reveal they could be contaminated when wistaria. so far no one has become sick.

>> we do have driver conditions today, welcome rain yesterday, a loft places picking up over two #, 3 inches of rain. here in philadelphia, we could use little more still, we did officially pick up 1.29 inches at the airport, but still down several inches on the year. this is the first rain we've had since september 1st, but actually now moving back not drier weather pattern, the exception maybe along the coastal areas, new jersey, delaware, today, maybe get couple of showers, some of the showers just linger, just off the coastline, other than that, clouds, with some sunshine today. it is still muggy. you can feel the humidity outside right now, and temperatures running above average for the next several days, six an in the lehigh valley to 70 around philadelphia, and areas south and east, so forecast high today up to 84 degrees,

decreasing clouds this afternoon, skies should go mostly clear tonight, still mild, low of around 68 for the city, little cooler in the suburbs, but check it out. all the way through saturday, still talking about low and mid 80s for high temperatures, fall officially arrives thursday, does start feeling like fall sunday monday, highs back to the 70s, meisha, how is traffic be? >> looking great, justin, the traffic right now, take a look outside. just construction, nine at northbound between ridley park and 420, two lanes blocked, this is slowing you down quite a bit actually. so i would say, if you have to take this area any time soon in delaware county i would certainly give yourselves extra time, at least 30 minutes, that's what i would do. just keeps getting worse t hasn't been pick up yet. you can see with one driveable lane, that will slow you down this morning, also, 95 south past the betsy ross bridge, looking really nice on interstate 95, just the stretch of where the construction is, vine headlights moving in the westbound direction, near broad street, we were closed overnight for the overnight construction on the vine, looks like the westbound side

this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. a rhawnhurst man is fighting for his life this morning, the victim after hit-and-run driver, he was struck just feet from his home. we're live with the major clue investigators have found, and how they hope to capture their suspect. ahmad khan rahami, the man accused every setting bombs here in chelsea and in new jersey is in custody this morning. authorities are trying to figure out if he has any terrorist links. i'm hena daniels in new york, i'll have the latest on the investigation coming up. >> he fumbles the football. the eagles have it again. fumble by -- >> that's merrill reese with the call, as the eagles defense dominates. the birds beat the chicago
