morning, certainly close call for everyone involved. this all happened behind me here at this fuel business, when investigators say an armed man possibly with the intent on committing suicide by police, got into a struggle with officers. and during that struggle, police say, that gun, that was held by that man, discharged five times. now, fortunately, no one was hit. one police officer did have to go to the hospital. take a look at the video now. you can see that investigators collected evidence at the scene for hours overnight. this is the ride he will fuel heating and air-conditioning business limekiln pike and mount carmel avenue. you can see the markers indicating the gun and spent shell casings. this actually all started around 8:00 last night in upper dublin. police there were contacted by this 32 year old man's family, they say, he left home with a gun, with the intent on committing suicide, possibly by engaging police officers t wasn't until about midnight, that an abington patrol officer found that man here, as he talked to the suspect in abington sergeant arrives. actually patting the man down

to put him into the back of the cruiser to take him home when they felt the gun. now, the suspect's hands were still in his pockets at the time. that's when investigators say the suspect took the weapon out, and started to struggle. >> here's a case where the gun was out, he's pointing the gun, he's firing the gun, and they are struggling with him to get the gun away from him and save his life by doing that. and yes, i'm very proud of him, proud of police officers everywhere who are doing the same heroic work. >> now, that gun went off five times. partly because officers were trying to render it safe. now, the sergeant was injured, his shoulder was injured a bit in the struggle, had to be taken to the hospital. he also has problems hearing out of one of his ears this morning because the gun was discharged so close to his head, we're told, how much, that he will be treated this morning, and released. at far as the suspect goes, he's under arrest, and he will undergo minute al health screening later on this morning. reporting live in glennside, jan carabeo, cbs-3,

"eyewitness news", jim, brooke, book into you. >> thanks, jan. >> the bodies of two firefighters killed in the line of duty in wilmington will be taken to their respective funeral homes today. the processions will begin around 9:00 a.m. forty-one year old christopher leach, jerry fickes, were killed saturday. they were fighting a fire in a row home on lakeview road when the floor collapsed. a woman and her six children were in the home. they got out safely. four other firefighters were also injured. >> well, a driver loses chrome crashing into a store in philadelphia's frankford neighborhood. "eyewitness news" was on the scene shortly after the crash at frankford and harrison last night. both the car and the chinese restaurant sustained serious damage. we are told one person was taken to the hospital. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> and a motorcyclist is rushed to the hospital in critical condition after colliding with a car. this crash happened on roosevelt boulevard at c street in feltonville. police say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. the cause of that crash, too,

is under investigation. >> this morning, the faa is investigating a plane crash that killed two people in new jersey. it happened yesterday, near sky manor airport, in hunterdon county just afternoon. state police say the pilot and a passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. the two have not been identified yet. >> fire officials are investigating a fire at the independence visitor center. authorities tell us the flames broke out around 9:00 last night inside the old city building. crews quickly got the fire under control. no bun was hurt. >> well, happening today, a meeting to update horsham resident about the quality of their drinking water. now, you may recall, resident have been concerned after a dangerous chemical was found in their drinking water. the chemical was linked to certain cancers, and developmental issues foreign fans. the meeting is in the horsham township community center, tonight at 7:00 p.m. >> it is a big night in the world of politics. hillary clinton and donald trump will take part in their first presidential debate. a washington post abc news

part because we do have some rain on the way. so always a benefit to that, right, even though it does squash out the plans. meanwhile looking at the temperature change, milder than this same time yesterday than mount pocono. but pretty much on par, give or take an agree or two, again, this is change, even minus or plus within the last 24 hours, this same time yesterday basically on par with these values. forty-five is the temperature at mount pocono, 49 currently in atlantic city, and a four here in philadelphia. meanwhile as the day goes on starting with sun, building clouds as the day goes on, still tip typically seasonable, then tonight, when the wet weather does move in specially late tonight. so i think the evening drive should be fine. then looking ahead to tomorrow morning, well, one of the mornings where you may want to set the alarm maybe ten extra minutes because there will be showers, and some likely steady rain out there to dodge before things gradually clear for some sunshine, but few more shower chances along the way later this week. meisha, over to you. >> perfect weather to turnoff the air conditioners, open those windows, gorgeous.
