>> jim rarely gets that excited. >> it is the eagles. >> right? >> me too. and i love that hat. did you see? >> i love it. i want that hat. if you're out there and watching, send me one, i'll wear it! >> three minor accidents this morning, and we'll get to that in just a little bit. >> things are looking quiet weather wise, it doesn't stay that way, but at least roll out of bed without needing a umbrella this is where we come in. we want to get you prepared for what lies ahead. there is rain on the way. frankly needed rain. we do still have deficit here since january 1, couple of inches shy of where we should be in the delaware valley, specific to philadelphia, as well, storm scan quiet for now. it will not stay that way later tonight, specifically, when that rain starts to move in. so, for now, you have got an entire day to work with. if you have outdoor plans recalling, you are looking good. clouds will builds. you won't see the robin egg blue sky all day like we had yesterday. and because it is so clear out there right now, temperatures pretty much on par with where

they were yesterday. cool start. currently at 54 in philadelphia, that's pretty close to where typically should be, and the thing is, we've just been very spoiled as of late. maybe you sat outside yesterday morning with cup of coffee on the porch, like what i it, so comfortable, with sweatshirt and sweat pants on. you will have that same thing going on here today. by the time we hit 9:00 a.m., low 60s already. mid 70s by the height of the day. also when the clouds do start to rebuild, and again, the rain chances are starting to climb with time here. today, only 20% chance through the day, but again tonight when the rain really starts to move in. so it is a high chance specially tomorrow morning. i get that umbrella ready to go, meisha. >> i have it ready already, katie, thank you so much. 80% tomorrow. so that's going to slow us down tomorrow morning for that commute. make note of that. today however so far looking okay, in terms of the roadways being dry. ben franklin bridge looking good from jersey into center city. ninety-five south, past cottman, i would say heating up little bit. we can expect that on a monday morning at about 5:00 a.m. this is the accident we're

talking about at the desk moment ago. accident here overturned truck in jersey. 295 northbound before route 42, that right lane is blocked right now. we have another one in jersey, before 295, two right lanes are blocked right now, we also have this fluid spill. this is absolutely going to slow you down or, if nothing else, if we don't have the volume out there yet, we'll have little gator delay. brake lights going off around this area. make note of that. another accident city avenue conshohocken avenue, again, showing green around this area. hopefully that clears out of the way sometime soon. make note of it. op opening tomorrow, instead of today, back to you. >> could have turned out much worse. but two abington police officers are being commended this morning for helping to subdue an armed man allegedly looking to get shot by police. >> now, "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo is live at the scene in glennside to tell us more about it. good morning, jan. >> reporter: brooke, jim, good

morning, certainly close call for everyone involved. this all happened behind me here at this fuel business, when investigators say an armed man possibly with the intent on committing suicide by police, got into a struggle with officers. and during that struggle, police say, that gun, that was held by that man, discharged five times. now, fortunately, no one was hit. one police officer did have to go to the hospital. take a look at the video now. you can see that investigators collected evidence at the scene for hours overnight. this is the ride he will fuel heating and air-conditioning business limekiln pike and mount carmel avenue. you can see the markers indicating the gun and spent shell casings. this actually all started around 8:00 last night in upper dublin. police there were contacted by this 32 year old man's family, they say, he left home with a gun, with the intent on committing suicide, possibly by engaging police officers t wasn't until about midnight, that an abington patrol officer found that man here, as he talked to the suspect in abington sergeant arrives. actually patting the man down

to put him into the back of the cruiser to take him home when they felt the gun. now, the suspect's hands were still in his pockets at the time. that's when investigators say the suspect took the weapon out, and started to struggle. >> here's a case where the gun was out, he's pointing the gun, he's firing the gun, and they are struggling with him to get the gun away from him and save his life by doing that. and yes, i'm very proud of him, proud of police officers everywhere who are doing the same heroic work. >> now, that gun went off five times. partly because officers were trying to render it safe. now, the sergeant was injured, his shoulder was injured a bit in the struggle, had to be taken to the hospital. he also has problems hearing out of one of his ears this morning because the gun was discharged so close to his head, we're told, how much, that he will be treated this morning, and released. at far as the suspect goes, he's under arrest, and he will undergo minute al health screening later on this morning. reporting live in glennside, jan carabeo, cbs-3,

"eyewitness news", jim, brooke, book into you. >> thanks, jan. >> the bodies of two firefighters killed in the line of duty in wilmington will be taken to their respective funeral homes today. the processions will begin around 9:00 a.m. forty-one year old christopher leach, jerry fickes, were killed saturday. they were fighting a fire in a row home on lakeview road when the floor collapsed. a woman and her six children were in the home. they got out safely. four other firefighters were also injured. >> well, a driver loses chrome crashing into a store in philadelphia's frankford neighborhood. "eyewitness news" was on the scene shortly after the crash at frankford and harrison last night. both the car and the chinese restaurant sustained serious damage. we are told one person was taken to the hospital. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> and a motorcyclist is rushed to the hospital in critical condition after colliding with a car. this crash happened on roosevelt boulevard at c street in feltonville. police say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. the cause of that crash, too,

is under investigation. >> this morning, the faa is investigating a plane crash that killed two people in new jersey. it happened yesterday, near sky manor airport, in hunterdon county just afternoon. state police say the pilot and a passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. the two have not been identified yet. >> fire officials are investigating a fire at the independence visitor center. authorities tell us the flames broke out around 9:00 last night inside the old city building. crews quickly got the fire under control. no bun was hurt. >> well, happening today, a meeting to update horsham resident about the quality of their drinking water. now, you may recall, resident have been concerned after a dangerous chemical was found in their drinking water. the chemical was linked to certain cancers, and developmental issues foreign fans. the meeting is in the horsham township community center, tonight at 7:00 p.m. >> it is a big night in the world of politics. hillary clinton and donald trump will take part in their first presidential debate. a washington post abc news

poll has the candidates in a virtual dead heat ahead of the eagerly anticipated events. we're told clinton has practiced full mock debates, while trump only studied policy ideas, possible questions, he might face. you can watch tonight's debate right here on cbs-3 start at 9:00. >> well, the eagles are off to a great start this season. >> new quarterback carson wentz is off to great start of his career. wentz connected for two, touchdowns in yesterday's big win, many predict a trip to the superbowl. maybe the eagles can make that trip. eagles dominated in every phase of the game, cruise to a win. three and zero on the season so far. >> well, yesterday's blow out has everyone jumping on the wentz wagon this morning. >> you have already been on the wagon. >> maybe we've shaving for later on, that graphic that. >> like the steelers didn't even show up. radio where fans are praising wentz this morning. hey, justin. >> reporter: brooke, jim, good morning, that's right, definitely coffee and cough drop kind of day, maybe even some advil, too, but good morning nonetheless, especially, when you are eagles are now three and zero. let's take you now to last night. >> e-a-g-l-e-s, eagles! >> reporter: yes, chickie's and pete's' was electric last night in south philly. the fight song, fans mixing so loudly, they overpowered the game at points, kind of like the eagles and the steelers, you know, fans say something about the season there is young quarterback carson wentz, and this reenergized team just feel different. a team now standing at three and zero. the team pulled off stunning defeat of the steelers that was one for the books for sure. final score, eagles 34, steelers, four. and fans say they have high hopes for the season. >> we are going to the playoffs. with a rookie quarterback, for the first time. >> i had high expectations for

tiger woods expressed his feelings on twitter. thanks arnold for your friendship, council, and a lot of laughs. your philanthropy and humility are part of your legend. he went on to say it is hard to imagine golf without palmer or anyone more important to the game than the king. we agree. >> and another sports star is also being remembered. a vigil took place last night in miami for jose fernandez. the 24 year old was a pitcher for the marlins. he and two of his friends were killed early sunday morning when their boat crashed, just off miami beach. the marlins canceled their game against the braves yesterday. they'll play the mets tonight as scheduled. >> the city of charlotte is no longer under a curfew, after a police officer fatally shot keith scott last week. protesters filled the street of charlotte once again overnight. but demonstrations remain peaceful. there have been protests every day since 43 year old keith lamont scott was shot to death by charlotte police last tuesday. police released video of the

shooting but it still leaves a lot of unanswered questions. well, the time now is 5:14, turning to weather. >> you know, it felt a little like fall this weekend. >> little? >> little bit. >> a smidge. >> quite a bit. not the fall i'm used to, but it felt like oklahoma winter. >> okay? >> what is she going to do when january is here? >> i'm worried. we'll see how we do. >> let's just get right to it. it will ends up it being pretty nice start to the week. clouds do we build with time. eventually also ends up pretty typical afternoon in the mid 70s. we are how much off to bit of cool start. we will take you on outside. show you what's up here with the fall foliage, to kick things off, things changing up across new england, portions of up-state new york. nothing really just yet here. starting to see some of the

leaves fall from the trees outside of my own front yard, but they haven't changed color yet. so we still need couple of more weeks before things really begin to get underway in that regard. but, that said, again, we are at least off to nice quiet start here locally. and that is going to mean more time here, if you manage to get outside yesterday at all, you know how beautiful it was through the afternoon. now, as we progress, throughout the day, any of the clear skies that we currently have, is going to yield to more cloud cover. very obvious wide. there is a frontal boundery on the way here, that front will be brink withing it some rain. specifically, tonight, though, i think we get out through the course of the after innocent here without any major hitches, just building clouds, and as this front crosses through, it will bring with it some beneficial rain. i don't think we're dealing with a deluge, but some of the rain could be locally steadier. meantime the pollen has not been bad lately. even despite what's been generally dry forecast lately, but ragweed, and sage brush, are the predominant ones right now, though, thankfully levels are nice and low through the next couple of days, and in

part because we do have some rain on the way. so always a benefit to that, right, even though it does squash out the plans. meanwhile looking at the temperature change, milder than this same time yesterday than mount pocono. but pretty much on par, give or take an agree or two, again, this is change, even minus or plus within the last 24 hours, this same time yesterday basically on par with these values. forty-five is the temperature at mount pocono, 49 currently in atlantic city, and a four here in philadelphia. meanwhile as the day goes on starting with sun, building clouds as the day goes on, still tip typically seasonable, then tonight, when the wet weather does move in specially late tonight. so i think the evening drive should be fine. then looking ahead to tomorrow morning, well, one of the mornings where you may want to set the alarm maybe ten extra minutes because there will be showers, and some likely steady rain out there to dodge before things gradually clear for some sunshine, but few more shower chances along the way later this week. meisha, over to you. >> perfect weather to turnoff the air conditioners, open those windows, gorgeous.

but heed that warning about having the rain tomorrow morning, as katie said, because it will absolutely slow us down. good news, you guys, good morning, happy monday, roadways looking good right now. nice and dry. you can see, the camera kind of bouncing up and down, letting us know it is a little windy out there actually. this is the vine. taillights are moving in the westbound direction. this is at the schuylkill. so the eastbound side and the westbound side, kind of keeping my eye on this morning, overall both directions actually looking pretty good. i'm hoping to keep you at this until around 5:30 as we push more deep near the 5:00 hour. right now enjoy that on the vine and the schuylkill. schuylkill taillights moving in the westbound direction. this is actually at the blue route. we are looking good here in the westbound side again schuylkill taillights westbound at the blue route looking good. i would say, starting to pink up maybe ever so slightly, overall for busy monday morning looking okay there. now, pull your attention to couple every accidents we have out there. overturned truck in jersey, 295 northbound before route 42, right lane, is still blocked, in that area. also, looking here, another accident in jersey route 73 southbound, before 295. two right lanes are blocked

here. and you also have a flu i had spill. so it is absolutely going to slow you down. have flashing lights out there, little gaper delay as well. we had another accident here city avenue at conshohocken avenue. that just cleared. great news for those every in you and around that center city area. and also some construction out there still lingering, pa turnpike westbound between valley forge and downingtown, left lane blocked there. we have another point of construction here on the pa turnpike eastbound, this part between downingtown and valley hill road. right lane will be blocked therefore those every you kind of keeping your head up for the construction, also take a look at this, walnut lane bridge re-opening tomorrow. not today as it was previously discussed. lincoln drive or midvale will be your best bet, brooke, over to you. thanks, meisha. time for look at newspaper headlines from across our region. from the burlington county times a multi-million dollar solution to a leaky corroded sewer line on heart forwards road is in the works but will come at a cost to customers. mt. laurel municipal utility

>> the suspect in the deadly mall shootings in washington state will be arraigned later this morning. police say 20 year old arjon walked into a macy's friday night and killed five people. right now investigators are looking into the teen's past, searching his house, car, and interviewing his relatives. a shooting inside a starbucks left one person dead in las vegas. moments before the shooting, authorities say the suspect's credit card was declined at the drive-thru. although the employee gave the suspect his order, police say, he stormed inside the coffee shop. they say shots were fired, during a argument with a customer. the suspect is in police custody. well, about 25,000 people took part in the tunnels of tours run in new york city, among them, people who were signed up to raise the marine

corps charity run. you may recall that race was canceled after pipe bomb exploded near the race course in seaside park. the runners followed the route of a firefighter, who responded on 9/11. that firefighter ran through the battery tunnel, to the world trade center, proceeds from the race are going to wounded veterans of the wars in iraq and afghanistan. well, it was a celebration of puerto rico on the parkway. >> it was the scene yesterday at the 54th annual puerto rican day parade. philadelphia mayor jim kenney was among several local and state officials there. the theme was the power of our voice. focusing on people impacted by the economic crisis in puerto rico. and another celebration of heritage here. this is brazilian day at penn's landing. there were live performances both music and dance. pretty cool. my mom accidentally walked through the pork rican festival. she was excited about it. >> that's the best thing about
