>> good morning, we all know what happens when it is wet roadways. we forget how to drive. and that's kind whatever we're seeing right now, very yet, give yourselves extra time, we have activity out on the roadways, we'll get to that in just a moment. >> it is not everywhere, but where you do have it, it slows you down. i drove in with a deluge the whole way. it is just depending on the location. traffic and weather together specially on a day like this. up and down i-95, new jersey turnpike, extending back into maryland there, so again depending where your travels take you, it may only be damp on the road because the rain already moved through, or it hasn't actually gotten to you yet or in a little bit after lull. regardless of the actual situation, put things into motion you can see the last couple of hours things have gun to get more active on storm scan3, again, major roadways affected by this with heavy downpours coming
4:32 am
through, in scattered fashion, but where you are getting hit and i can a test to it you are definately getting hit hard. tell tail raindrops are on the camera lens, over looking "skycam 3", facing south on the center city camera, liberty place skewed by the raindrops, visibility isn't terrible, at leagues cloud deck little higher up, regardless when you have the sheen on the roadways, it can mess with the visibility. certainly just again you will need the extra time headed out the door. sixty-nine the current temperature, looking at other temperatures, mild start, frankly, especially by comparison to what we've experience in the recent mornings, but temperatures will also rebounds so far. mid 70s in the sit which is seasonable, but because of all of the clouds, sunshine through the majority of the first half of the day, won't rebounds all that much, good news, we will start to clear things out later today. so there will be a break in thing. >> specially for evening commuters. katie, great, thank youment looking outside, you can see how wet it is out on the vine, vine closed this morning between the schuylkill and broad. right now folks westbound and eastbound side, you are still
4:33 am
closed. and again, it is very wet. i'm going to be saying it over and over, give yourselves extra time this morning, rain or shine, construction crews out there. ninety-five north, before betsy ross, and cottman, this is where we have the construction crews out there. this will slow you down just little bit, as well. the right lane right now is blocked. i'll let you know as soon as that clears. also, disable vehicle, the schuylkill eastbound, at montgomery. it is an u-haul truck. yikes. i hope someone's not driving still, and moving all of their stuff, never the levels, it is disabled right now pushing people to try to swerve around there. and when it is wet, sometimes you can get hydroplaning action, as well, make note of. that will again, give yourselves extra time this morning, brooke, jim, over to you. >> it is the event everyone has been waiting for. the first presidential debate. >> hillary clinton and donald trump finally met face-to-face and it didn't take long for the fireworks to begin. correspondent jamie yuccas live at hofstra university in long island where the debate took place. good morning, jamie. >> reporter: good morning, jim, brooke. we are just 43 days away from
4:34 am
election day. and i have to he will it you the candidates are now back on the campaign trail, as early as today trying to get out the vote. both of them taught that they were big winners in last night's debate where there were plenty of attacks, both personally, and on policies. >> i've been a senator -- you. >> haven't done it. >> and i have been -- >> the first of the three eagerly anticipated debates was anything but friendly. >> hillary has experience. but it bad experience. >> i know you live in your own reality. >> the debate on many topics volt remembers heard before. >> i release my tax returns when she releases her 33,000 emails that have been deleted. >> it was a mistake and i take responsibility for that. >> topics every race, national security and jobs dominated on the stage, but it was the sometimes awkward attacks making headlines. >> i don't believe she does have the stamina to be president of this country, you need tremendous stomach ma. >> a man who can be provoked
4:35 am
by a tweet cannot have his hands near the nuclear code. >> questioning whether the businessman is prepared to lead the nation. >> i am prepared to be president and i think that's a good thing. >> and trump accused clinton of being soft on crime. >> secretary clinton, doesn't want to use a couple of words. and that's law and order. we need law and order. >> afterward trump react today his performance. >> i think we got our point across. she's not going to make america great again. she has been saying these things for years. and nothing ever happens. >> while hillary clinton stopped by a nearby watch party to thank cheering supporters. >> we were able to talk about what we opportunity do to get the economy work for everybody. >> the candidates are back on the trail today in battleground state. clinton in north carolina, and trump in florida. as we said this was just the first of three presidential debates, the next one is october 9th, in st. louis, miss your i as for the vice presidential debates,
4:36 am
just one week from tonight, and our own cbs elaine key hand owe will be the moderator that far debate, jim, brooke. >> jamie, were there any surprising take aways from the candidates during last night's debate? let's talk about that. >> well, yes. there have been so many discussion that is have been happening overnight, especially with the experts, analysts saying it is real interesting that the monitor had free rain to ask whatever he want, he didn't ask the wall, what surrounded donald trump during much of the campaign, it wasn't also asked about hillary clinton about her family foundation, her emails were brought up, but no discussion about the clinton foundation which is another scandal as people see it something that's plagued the family for a number of years. so interesting that those two points didn't come up. obviously wide range of other topics were discussed last night, but i think one of the other big take aways, if you were undecided voter you probably are still undecided at this point. candidates stuck to what they've been saying the entire
4:37 am
campaign season. there wasn't real that i break away moment or that one moment that people said oh, i'm now going to vote for this person or that person. so, we may have it wait until october 9 to get that one fiery flash. >> well, things are certainly heating up. that's for sure, thank so much, jamie. >> and you know the first debate was one for the record books. we're told an estimated 100 million people tuned in to watch. "eyewitness news" hit up the american public in center city where the bar hosed a non-partisan debate watch party. viewers showed to up see hillary clinton and donald trump finally go tow to tow. while most vote verse already made up their minds on who they'll be voting for, there is still a large block every undecided voters. >> really can't stand either one of them. i mean, i have a visceral dislike of hillary clinton, and i think that donald trump is clinically insane. so i just can't see to make up my mind. >> a new pole shows clinton with just one point lead in
4:38 am
pennsylvania, both candidate say they will campaign several more times in our area before election day. >> coincidentally national voter registration day taking place today the day after the debate. here in our area vice president joe biden will be taking part. biden will be at temple university for a registration drive for the clinton campaign. city lead letters also be visiting high schools to register students turning 18. elsewhere the non-partisan group head count is having a drive at 30th street station. and the city employees union will register voters at 15th and market in center city. meanwhile, first loud i -- lady michelle obama making stops in pittsburgh for the clinton campaign tomorrow. >> next showdown, mike penned, tim kaine debate, correspondent elaine key hand owe will moderate that debate which will take place at longwood university in virginia at 9:00 and of course you can watch it right here on cbs-3. >> police say one person is dead, and two others are hurt,
4:39 am
after a shooting in the city's germantown section. officers tell us, it happened in the 1300 block of johnson street in the courtyard of the johnson court apartments. they say someone shot a 22 year old man in the face. he died at the hospital. someone also shot a 20 year old man in the leg and a 18 year old man in the arm. both are in stable condition. investigators say, it is unclear if either of these victims were the intended target or just innocent bystanders. a new jersey motel owner pleaded guilty to stealing super storm sandy federal relief funds. authorities say patel stole more than $800,000 from fema. they say patel build the agency for 11 rooms that were supposedly temporarily occupied by super storm sandy victims. investigators say only three super storm sandy victims stayed at his toms river motel, and they stayed for a shorter time than patel

4:45 am
control. it was about 5% contained last night. >> well the time now 44:44. >> katie, when is the rain in our area going to leave? i will tell you it was dry when i drove in. and then just little later pat gallen is worried about being soaked. >> yes, i walked in with the guy, yes, we were all just i think we actually both said to each other, this is miserable as we walked in the door. we were both getting soak. even umbrella wasn't helping very much just because it was a bit of a deluge as you walk into the building, at leers here in spring garden. regardless the rain is out there. it left behind a lot of damp roads in a lot of locations, that rain certainly coming down steadily where it is located. but even if it is not, again, problem bye going to get sprayed from the other vehicles since the rain already moved through. this is with us for few more hours, probably need the extra time, even if the rain surgeon currently falling from the sky depending where your travels take you, still damp out there. looks like it is clearing out relatively quickly, see that in future wet near secretariment storm scan shows the back edge, even back in
4:46 am
toward center county where penn state is located things already beginning to clear out. breezy in the wake of this, but for now, i would say the main concern is the fact we still do have rain to dodge out there. as we look forward in this forecast, even by the time we're wrapping up, typical morning rush, eight, 9:00 a.m., still showers out, there already clearing going on in the far northwest suburbs. so sort of half and half situation on the radar. by the time our morning typical morning drive is wrapping up. looks like this front may just take its time to get out of the southeast most counties. so even into the late afternoon cape may county, atlantic county, basically down toward the jersey shore, your best shot to still have to deal with a lingering shower before it is all said and done. but eventually everybody does clear out. meanwhile, today, i would say in the sit you can expect actually to see sun before said and done, 75 the high, very typical. later tonight it is cooler in the wake of this cool front. it lives up to it name, 58 degrees for the nighttime low. temperatures stay pretty steady in the mid 70s for tomorrow, start with sun, clouds rebuild, new system moves in. thursday looks the wettest,
4:47 am
but this storm looks like it will hang out for couple of days. so, additional showers friday, and probably saturday, too, before we see things dry out officially. meisha, over to you. >> going to make for some rough drive. looking outside right now yep it is wet out here on the vine, it is also closed for construction, looks like the westbound side now just opening up, as you approach the schuylkill eastbound side. follow fairly quickly afterward. waiting on the eastbound side of the vine. ninety-five north, before betsy ross, cottman, you can see right lane block and again very wet. a lot of the wetness kicking up on the windshield behind you. it will cause to you have your windshield weepers on, and tank your breaks. when you have the brakes on, you know we have a risk of hydroplane. give yourself extra time, drive careful, always drive the speed limit or little below, especially, in rainy conditions. and this is where we have disable vehicle, u halts pulled off to the shoulder, schuylkill eastbound, at montgomery, it was block ago lane, now pulled off to the shoulder, so kind of out of
4:48 am
your way. then construction throughout in jersey 42 free bound, 295 the close until 5:00 a.m. jim, over to you. >> thank you so much, meisha. the markets are weighing in on the first presidential debate. >> we'll show you who investors did better in this morning's money watch report.
