september 27th, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> that means we made it through monday. katie and meisha are keeping an eye on things this morning. >> yes, good morning, happy tuesday. very, very wet on the roadways, so if you stayed up late watching the debate, you'll be tired. are you tired? i know you stayed up to watch the whole thing. >> oh, never tired, meisha. >> just be honest. soap the roadways just very, very wet. have all of the updates coming up. but the vine opening right now. >> well, that's good news. definitely. but yes, you said it, definitely very wet commute. specially through the city. right now even though the worse of the rain starting to move on out, definitely still got problems out there, as we take a look what's happening here, on the loop at least, of storm scan3, we are still experiencing some soggy conditions, especially southeast, just southeast right now, of the new jersey turnpike, portions of southern new castle county then right in the northeast diagonal, southeast of philly. even if it is not raining where you currently are, probably starting off on damp note here, maybe up toward the

poconos, lehigh valley it, didn't hit you all that much. but regardless, for the most part, it is a bit of a soggy start to the day here. one more look at the localized level, the rain is coming down somewhat steadily where it is coming down. so again, wet roads, spray from vehicles, air go it is a slow drive for us this morning. so hopefully you had the thought to maybe set the alarm couple of minute early so not as late. but through the afternoon at least the good news the p.m. drive should be fine, things should be drying out pretty nicely by the time we actually hit the evening rush. for the lunch hour shouldn't be too bad. 67 degrees the current temperature, meantime, a lot milder guys this morning than it was this same time yesterday. even in the mid 50's in the poconos, that was spot that was flirting with 30's yesterday. so, definitely a milder beginning to the day, but still, just as mild as what we saw yesterday for a high since we've got a lot of clouds overhead. those will continue to part. we'll see some sun as the day goes on, meisha? >> it will be nice to see the sun, all right, katie, thank you. looking at 95 south at cottman right now. it is very wet. been talking about that all morning long, we will continue to do so, because you will

want to give yourself extra time. what we are looking at in terms of volume, still early, still dark, just not cracking the 5:00 hour, early risers, still looking pretty light. i will say in new jersey 42 north bound, starting to heat up here, more than anything just take a look at how wet it looks. there are a lot of rain that has fallen, it will be kicking up on your windshield. it will cause some slow downs for sure. so factor that into your time how early you lever the front door this morning, construction, past downingtown, right lane blocked there for some construction, and more construction for you, rain or shine, crews out there, 42 northbound, 295 closed, it will be closed until around 5:00 a.m. and just a reminder on this, walnut lane bridge re-opening today, scheduled to open yesterday, got pushed back to today, looks thick will. >> lincoln or midvale should help you out. >> record breaking numbers for last night's debate, 100 million people are said to have tuned in. >> sparks were flying on stage as the two candidates went tow to tow over the issues.

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo is live at drexel university where vice president joe biden will be campaigning for hillary clinton this morning. hey, jan. >> reporter: brooke, jim, this morning, that's right, vice president joe biden will be making a stop here at drexel university, right around 10:30 this morning, he is set to speak about hillary clinton's vision for the economy. but, both sides are going to be campaigning hard today after a first fiery debate last night. >> hillary clinton and donald trump were cordial while taking the stage at hofstra university in new york monday night. but the gloves quickly came off during the first round of questions on the economy. >> it would be the most extreme version, the biggest tax cut for the top percent of the people in this country than we've ever had. i call it trumped up, trickle down. >> for 30 years you're starting start to do it and just now starting

nationally. >> meanwhile, libertarian presidential nominee gary johnson is tweeting his displeasure for not being included in the debates. he's asking americans to help him get on stage for the next presidential debate, that's on sunday october 9. johnson has been polling nationally at around 8%, now, the debate commission requires the candidate to pole at 15% to be included. >> well, after last night's showdown, donald trump went where presidential nominees rarely go. >> this morning some analysts are saying even after a 90 minute debate, he was still trying to get in the last word. >> twenty-two year old man was shot in the face, died at the hospital, and a 20 year old man was shot in the leg, and 18 year old man was shot in the arm, both are in stable condition tonight from philadelphia. both say unclear at this point if either of these victims were the intended target, or just innocent bystanders. >> fire crews fighting fast moving fire in california's santa cruz mountains. officials say, this so called loma fire broke out yesterday afternoon, inside a building, but quickly spread. scorch 1,000 acres. officials say the fire is threatening about 300 homes, in its path, and they're asking people to leave the area. >> well, time now 5:13. katie is here with a look at weather. >> yes, guys. >> rain that we're having?

they need some of the rain we're having. >> absolutely. sometimes obviously, sometimes you just can't get that to happen. and it looks as though at least here, actually going toned one more rain over the course of the next couple of days, with another area of low, low pressure starts to move in. that will set up shop looks like heading toward the upcoming weaken. so, we will take a look, first and for most, statistical information. in the midst every pretty substantial rainfall deficit over four and a half inches every rainfall could fall, for us to actually be average. but, typically, the norm, over 31 inches every rain at this point since january 1st that is. tanking the entire year. but regardless, we are far shy of that at the moment. so, some of this rain will help chip away at that, storm scan, at the moment, certainly, active. we've got basically sliver every steadier rain that's basically moving through, just south of the new jersey turnpike. but, it is still very damp outside. and this is going to clear with time. but i would say better party of the morning drive will be impacted by. >> this you can see, things do

at least try to clear out in the wake of this, the problem is another area of low pressure that will set up shop over our region in the days ahead. and, when i say set up shop, i mean, tacking couple of days before something comes along to kick this out of here. so we walk you through future weather, once the rain is done, we start to clear it out. by this afternoon seeing some sunshine if not sooner. by wednesday specific to tomorrow night, next system on the move, brink withing it more rounds of rain to the area. so the day looks fine, the night side is when we start to seat rain picking up, then it hangs out thursday still going to see round of rain, rotating through the region. in the meantime for now at lows it is milder. we've got that going for us. 21 degrees warmer than this thing yesterday in millville after all. that will translates to 60s currently on the thermometer readings, only top off mid 70s today despite this warm start. and then again, break in the action, later today, in most of tomorrow, before the next system sets up shop for couple of days straight. meisha? >> okay, katie, thank you. yep, looking very wet so far, those every you just headed out the doorway actually

looking okay, you're in good company for now. we now pushing through the 5:00 specially into the 6:00, busy morning, slow with the rain on the roadways, give yourselves extra time. disable vehicle, right here. so the u-haul pulled off to the shoulder, schuylkill eastbound at montgomery, again pull off to the shoulder. so not seeing too many slow downs around there. actually pulled all the way off, block ago lane, pulled way off now to the far right. so it is not going to slow you down little bit. you might tap your brakes coming around the s curve, just a tad if you notice it by glance, last second, but overall it is not posing too many problems. ninety-five south at girard, what you are looking at here. you can see how wet it looks here. specially going to get on the sidewalks, side streets, bridges, overpasses all of that where it will accumulate watch can happen specially in pothole areas too, we can get hydroplaning, just use your best discretion, leave your homes little earlier this morning, with wet roadways like that on interstates, definately going to need it, brooke, over to you. thanks, meisha.

time for a look at newspaper headlines from across our region. >> front page of the burlington county times authorities say 37 year old pemberton township man was shot and killed sunday night during home invasion at the hilltop mobile village. chopper three was overhead. norman mostly's staff is the latest incident of gun violence in burlington county. it has claimed over half dozen lives this year. in the reading eagle, analysis by the newspaper finds despite state efforts to reduce the prison population, low risk offenders serve nearly the same percentage of their minimum sentence as inmates who pose a moderate threat of committing new crime. >> from the news journal today is national voter registration day. if the number every voters already registered in delaware is any indication every how voter turn out will be in november, chances are it will be high. according to the department of elections there, the number of registered voters in delaware has already surpassed 2012 totals, by over 37,000. and that's a look at some of the newspaper headlines from around the delaware valley. >> well, coming up next:

after three-zero start, just how good is carson wentz? something else to debate, will the philadelphia eagles be a play-off team? well, here is some interesting numbers. starting with wentz, he threw for 301 yards, and two touchdowns against the steelers. becoming the first rookie in nfl history to throw more than 100 passes without an interception. with his strong play, now playoff talk, and the odds are pretty good that the eagles make it. since 1990, teams that have started the season three and zero have made the post-season 76% of the time. with wentz, giving the eagles an early push, his head coach is putting him in some exceptional company. >> i hear him even just in the building talking to guys about plays, routes, and protections, and, you know, it is peyton manning-ish. you hate to label, i don't want to put labels on guys, bub that's how payton prepared. that's how these top quarterbacks prepared each week. and, you know, he has that now.

violence airiness north carolina he's not currently employed. >> it was a tough night in miami last night as the marlins remembered one of their teammates killed in a boat crash. players broke down during a pre-game tribute to pitcher jose fernandez, the 24 year old died sunday, along with two other men when their boat crashed into a jetty. everyone on the marlins also wore fernandez's jersey, for the game, the last time it will be worn as the marlins will retire it. another incredible scene, d gordon of the marlins lid off the game with a homerun for fernandez. the wentz wagon isn't quite full. there is still plenty of room for big chuck. former sixers star charles barkley is a big fan of the quarterback. the basketball hall of famer was in cherry hill last night, where he was the keynote speaker at the cats jcc sports award dinner. sir charles talks about his philadelphia eagles. >> well, he's been fantastic. you know, i live in philly during the summer. so i've seen every game. he's been fantastic.

and i root for the eagles, even though i am just a summer resident, i always root for the eagles going back to randall cunningham, reggie white, jerome brown, those guys. >> while all eyes have been on the eagles rookie, the sixers hot shot rookies were on display in camden yesterday during media day. each sixer sat down with the media at their brand new multi-million dollar training facility, that means, joel embiid and number one pick ben simmons were front and center. simmons packed on the muscle over the summer by working out with labron james and learned a thing or two from the three time champ. >> just learning from him i think i can take a lot from what he's done, from, you know, miami, what he's done with teams, everything going on. i think he's done a lot for me, hemmed me with a lot of experience and things i need to learn. >> there are positive vibes about the direction of the is sixers, not everyone is excited. new orleans know sell not happy about the log jam at the center position, made it known along with jahlil okafor, and embiid.
