washington. matthew slammed into haiti pack, winds of 145 miles per hour and causing extensive damage. 11 people killed. united nations official says it's hurricane caused the biggest human tarian crisis since the devastating earthquake in 2010. here in the united states, people are preparing for the worst. many are waiting for gas, food and other hurricane supplies, south carolina's governor plans to evacuate 1 million people. a state of emergency has been declared in south carolina, north carolina, florida and georgia. meteorologist kate bilo is keeping a very close eye on hurricane matthew's track. kate, you just got new information. >> we did, guys, we just got the latest track. 11:00 track from the national hurricane center and it does bring more positive news for our area. i've been waiting all day. talking on twitter how i expect that day cone to shift south and east with the new information we

got today. and as of this 11:00 p.m. update has shifted south and east. i want to show you the current status. we have a new tropical storm, this is nicole, this is not expected to be a threat but here is matthew. it's now sitting over land, it made a second land fall over the eastern part of cuba. the eye fill in. installed over eastern cuba it will start to push north overnight and into tomorrow through the bahamas. the latest on manueling, still a category 4 but weaker with sustained winds at 130 miles an hour, moving slowly to the north at eight miles per hour. will stay a cat 4 as it approaches the coast of florida possibly making a land fall along the coast of florida as we get into friday and curving up the eastern sea board. we start to see the south and east shift barely in that cone of concern here in philadelphia. this is sunday evening, and that means impacts would be lessened for us but not nonexistant.

he responded to a scene after a store manager said she was soliciting for cash outside. he has less than two years jabbed and earning praise for his actions. ben stiller reveals he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. he told howard stern he survived because of a psa blood test detected it early. stiller had surgery to remove his prostate and is in the clear. he's encouraging other men to ask the doctor for that psa test. stiller was 48 when diagnosed and doctors say he's lucky. >> had he waited until age 55 to be screened, i think that unfortunately the outcome may have been different >> the biggest risk factor for developing prostate cancer include age, being african-american and having a family history. when diagnosed early with a psa blood test and physical exam, it's very curable. the philadelphia eagles are doing their part to raise awareness about breast cancer. >> conner barwin took breast

cancer activists on a tour of lincoln field. women currently battling breast cancer survivors and advocates were all part of that tour group and october is breast cancer awareness month. speaking of which, the "cw philly" and komen philadelphia are teaming up once again turning the skyline pink. this is the building on market street in center city. a beautiful display. it's breast cancer awareness months and the pink lights are a reminder to schedule the mammogram and stay vigilant. it's the 15th year for the lights for the cure campaign. you can find more information at cbsphilly.com/cure. kate joins us continuing to follow matthew. it's been busy for you and it's going to be busy for next week probably? if this continues >> we feel any makes from matthew and that's still an if. it's not set in stone. it would be this weekend. we've been talking about matthew since last week.

it's not uncommon to see these shifts in the forecast when you're talking about a storm. >> people are so cures >> we start talking about them early. which is pretty cool. we have the technology to do so and you get to come on that forecasting ride. still, a lot you consider with this storm. a lot of uncertainty once it heads past the carolinas, as we get closer to the storm's make. everything is starting to come into more of a concensus. let's take quick look at a time lapse video from today. it was kind of a cloudy gloomy overcast day and clouds broke up in time for sunset. it's a cool 57 at the leadership academy in philly right now. clear skies, high pressure will build that as we go into the day tomorrow and we got a pretty nice day on the way. pretty nice finish to the week. i want to show you this fronts moving cross portions of the northern planes, this will be a major player in what happens to matthew as we head to the weekend. in the meantime temperatures dropping steadily. down to 52. chilly in allentown, 60 in

philly. 60 in wilmington and 57 degrees in trenton. high pressure gains more of a foot hold tomorrow, the breeze around there high from the northeast, tomorrow sunny but cool. a cool breeze from the northeast. we start to see a wind switch later in the week, more of a southwest flow as the front approaches, so thursday and friday look warm. thursday we start to see matthew beginning to creep up the florida coast. so high pressure out to sea, we got the trough moving in from the west of the let's talk about the players on the field here. take a look at the weapon vapor loop. there is matthew turning over eastern cuba. strong ridge of high pressure over the atlantic. stranger this builds, the further matthew will go, once matthew heads up to the carolinas we start to watch the advancing fronts, as that trough approaches matthew, depending on it's position, it could kick it out to sea and send it away. if the storm is lower, it would miss the connection completely keeping matthew further to the south in this curved area off

the southeast coast and that would mean minimal impact for us, here are the two scenarios. this is the gfs scenario, hugs the coast up towards north carolina, gets sent out to sea. trending further off store than yesterday, less rain, not as windy still some rains and gusty winds, that would be late saturday into sunday. the european model through a curve ball. that keeps it south, loops it back right then and there, wake ends it, 0 direct impact, this would mean no impacts from this and general al sunny weekend. big changes in these two scenarios and depends on what matthew does once it heads up to the carolinas and how it interacts. there's still the chance if this makes a land fall along the southeast coast. we do expect it to recurve, we do have a rain and wind threat saturday into sunday. indirect threat than a direct impact from matthew, this would
