>> i you're right, yes, temperatures have dropped off over the past week, it will get even coaler. >> even chillier. >> headed deep into october. we'll get the true october weather starting probably late tonight and through at least the first half of next week kind of split weekends, weaver some rain around today. you will need the umbrella this afternoon, tomorrow does look little better. if you have outdoor plans today get them done early. we'll bring in the showers probably as early as late morning, most likely a lot of places hole off until the afternoon. then the rain will continue on off and on. outside pretty quiet, dealing with mostly cloudy skies right now, 61 degrees officially at the airport, northeast win not problem, light, 5 miles per hour. temperatures right now, when you go to the lehigh valley, in the 50's, at this hour up in allentown, 57 degrees, 58 in reading, then go to the lower to mid 60s the further south you are. six an in wildwood, mid 60s in the capitol city of delaware, suburbs feeling cool this morning, comfortable, mid 50's doylestown, willow grove. where is the rain coming from?

cool front moving in from the west, that's the line of grain you see out in western pennsylvania, then of course matthew, just near hilton head island south carolina, and winds right now at 105, as of the 5:00 a.m. advisory, so the front combined with matthew will get some moisture in here. you can argue you have some of the rain coming from matthew later this afternoon into tonight t won't be heavy rain. we will get steadier rain specially across the jersey shore later today. so today it is cloudy, showers develop mainly in the afternoon, the steadiest rain south and east of philadelphia, as the front pass it is will turn windy tonight. it will bring in the cooler air, still mild day today. 72 degrees with some showers later today for philadelphia. near 70 at the shore, we'll get some steadier rain in here later this afternoon into tonight, mid 60s in the poconos. cool down and nice stretch of weather for october in the seven day. i'll talk about it in a few more minute. >> thank you, see you soon. new this morning police make arrest in double shooting in

today's fairhill section, two men were shot at the intersection of cambria and rosehill. eighteen year old man was shot in the leg, 22 year old man was shot in the thigh. both are in the hospital. no details on their condition at this time. >> well, hurricane matthew is weakening this morning, but it is still powerful off the southeast coast. weather forecasters say the category two storm moving over south carolina this morning bringing powerful winds, torrential rain. check out the video, massive waves crashing into a palm coast home. there you see it in florida authority say at least six people have died in the storm, million homes and businesses are without power. >> and haiti's government puts the death toll there from hurricane matthew at 300 people. officials however believe there are likely many more victims from areas that were wiped out. hurricane is in a specially tough blow for haiti. the country still recovering from an earthquake in january of 2010. we talked to the co-founder of a foundation base in the west oaklane which serves the

november 9th and find out we lost pennsylvania by 2,000 vote. >> and hillary clinton was off the campaign trail preparing for tomorrow's debate. and you can watch donald trump and hillary clinton square off for their second presidential debate tomorrow night. it start at 9:00 here on cbs-3. >> after high lead levels found in flint michigan, water quality at the top of mind for many. that includes officials at the philadelphia school district. yesterday afternoon the district released results of water testing at 22 of 40 school. here is the breakdown, outside labs tested 361 water fountains and 49 fountains in nine different schools had high levels of lead. one water fountain at elementary school in wynnefield found lead levels at more than seven times the federal recommendation. the district sent letters home with student explaining the testing, and what the district is now doing about it. >> the message is that the retest social security actually done so we can

continue to provide as healthy and safe and accessible water. they will receive a letter. >> and school employees shut off all affected water fountains within 24 hours of receiving the high test result. the district plans to have the remainder of the schools tested within 18 months. >> and area contractor is under fire for faulty work that could cost resident thousands of dollars to repair. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff has the latest on lawsuit that's been filed against the contractor. >> pennsylvania has filed suit against the largest privately owned residential builder in the delaware valley. the office of the attorney general claims that the david cutler group systematically failed to comply with codes and standards in the installation of stucco. >> they may have followed the letter of the code to follow that to a t, to a point, but they still didn't make a waterproof house. >> bill dare specializes in stucco testing, done extensive work and cutler group development. these photos show just how

devastating the repair process can get. >> many times stucco problems exceed 50 to $100,000. >> dare says the expense of issue may be more widespread than many homeowners know. but that since the damage has been done, repairs don't need to be rushed, unless you're selling, or suing. >> if your home's going to leak, and it is going to rot and fall apart, it is not acceptable. >> attorney steven farley has represented affected families. he explains that there is strict 12 year statute of limitation on filing suit against a builder in pennsylvania. >> these homes are kind of approaching 12 years, aren't many of them? >> they are right there the. >> the attorney general lawsuit seeks damages for homeowners. farley and dare agree other large builders in the region are also plagued with stucco problems, and those aren't always easy to recognize. >> we've tested some of the worse looking stucco on the planet and found perfectly good houses, test dollars some of the most beautiful stucco and found problems. >> homeowners believe they may have been dealing with issues

more. monday morning at 5:59 the casino will close. >> we wanted to come out one last time before they closed, pretty dead in there and depressing. >> for their part, tropicana which operates the taj blames local 54 president and negotiating team for closing the casino. the company is referring all questions regarding the close to go ceo tony rodeo's last statement which said bob mcdevitt and the taj bargaining committee have no one to blame for themselves nor sad outcome. >> before the strike, the roofs were leaking, in disrepair, we did not want to go on strike. our strike did not cause this build to go close. >> atlantic city loses 2800 jobs come monday. mayor don guardian says since competent tyne has grown around atlantic city in the last decade, the resort has learned to adjust, will do so once again. >> so we're doing everything we can to try to create new jobs, new vision for atlantic city, that goes beyond just gaming. >> donald trump has said he want his name off of the taj mahal once the casino closes.

and ending this chapter of atlantic city history with donald trump. in atlantic city, cleve bryan, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> and staying in new jersey now, new jersey reputation for cheap gas is about to become history. the state's gas tax is going up 23 cents a gallon. governor chris christie is expected to sign the tax hike in to law. it passed by both the state assembly and senate yesterday. the measure also calls for reduction in the sales tax and a phasing out of the estate tax. new jersey's current gas tax is 14 and a half cents a gallon. it will now rise to 37 and a half sent on november 1st. money from the tax hike will fund transportation work over eight years. and drivers who we spoke to are not happy. >> i work two jobs, my son works two jobs, and i have two in college. so definitely inconvenience. >> it is bad for the people because some people can't afford it, plus not only that, economy so bad, that how are we going to afford it? >> and to give you an idea how much this will cost you,

filling 115 gallons will cost you an extra $3.45. >> and, here's a look at what you will pay at the pump if you are filling up across our region. pennsylvania still has the highest prices at 2.35 for gallon of regular gas, drivers in new jersey are paying just under $2 a gallon, but again. that will jump when the gas tax hike takes effect. and in delaware, a gallon of regular gas costs about $2.13 a gallon. >> well, there is still much more to come on cbs-3 "eyewitness news", explosive device turns up at south jersey school. how the principal may have avoided a tragedy. >> and the maker of epi pen makes settlement. why it is now paying out millions to the federal government when "eyewitness news" continues.

>> it is a drastic change. it is like we were dealing with the hot, humid conditions. flip the switch. we're getting deeper and deep near fall. we'll cool down each week. >> so what you are saying i better get used to it? >> we'll be complaining about you know what in a few months, the s word. >> don't even say it. >> it will feel a typical day in october into the next week, do have rain today, part that far will be from matthew, not big deal, won't get any flooding rains like down south. good news. outdoor plans get it done early today. we'll bring some rain in here this afternoon. in problems now, now, waking up to some cloud cover, clouds partially due to matthew, and approaching cold front. we'll get the showers in here, that's good thing, we could use more rain across the region. check out storm scan3, heavy rainfall across the carolinas right now. you can see matthew just sitting about 20 miles south of hilton head island right now, but the very heavy rainfall make it into south central north carolina, see band of showers, that's the cold front, over western pennsylvania. but this moisture moving in to

northern virginia from matthew, some of that gets pulled in with the front. could get steadier rain specially later tonight across south jersey, part every central, southern delaware, certainly good news, because we could use it. temperatures holding in the 50's, to 60s right now, the clouds, not going to be whole lot of movement today. maybe we get close to about 70, 72, that's about it, and if that rain holds off long enough, 64 in dover, delaware, 59 this hour in newark. so it is a comfortable start to the weekend, headed outside, getting the morning work out in, looks pretty good. nice light winds across the region, up ear's, voorhees, pal my, a to up northwest suburbs, similar numbers, 56 in doylestown, nice 58 degrees, in reading, this hour. let's talk about matthew. this is the latest 5:00 a.m. advisory, winds at 105, so category two hurricane, now moving north-northeast at 12. so starting to make that turn to the north and east. now it, will just keep it hugging the southeast coastline over the next 24 hours. and again, it is about 20 miles just southeast of hilton head, south carolina, and just piling up water, so

storm surge an issue for the carolinas over the next 24 hours. but again, the track to the north and east, eventually back to the south, so makes that loop moving back into the bahamas. good news by day four, tuesday night into wednesday, it reaches the bahamas it, will weak mean low pressure system, wind down about 35. so we will see weakening with the storm over the next several days. that's good news. but still the wind is going to be kicking up, piling up the water, so storm surge still an issue pretty much all the way up to hatteras, maybe five to 7-foot storm surge over the next 24 hours. here is the wind field, area in red, the hurricane force wind. so it does try to get just inland, in through south carolina, georgia earlier this morning, the yellow area here, that's tropical storm force winds of 39 miles per hour or higher. sustained winds, so you can see the strong winds hug the coastline, into saturday night. then finally on sunday the storm moves off shore. we will get some improvement. tomorrow morning it will be whole lot better. but lock at the rainfall, heaviest rain, carolinas, this

is showing four plus probably going to be closer to 15 inches every rain in a lot of locations. so front comes through to us later tonight, bridges some showers in here, cools us down, tomorrow, big change, we will be talking about highs mid 60s, little windy, cool high pressure builds in for columbus day, a lot of sunshine, but certainly feeling like fall. here's our rain forecast, not much happening this morning, into the afternoon, some showers develop, watch what happens. steady rain tries to develop overnight for south jersey, delaware, pocket of heavy rain, tomorrow morning, still could be raining at the shore, but then we get clearing skies. look at the temperatures today, low 70s tonight, it is cool, 50's, 60s, tomorrow, big change in the numbers. check it out. temperatures only in the mid 60s, so for today, we're going to make it up to about 72 degrees, here is the extended forecast, forget the 70s, back to the mid and upper 60s headed into the middle part of next week. rahel, back to you. >> quick question. do you like taking self snows. >> no, you but you do. >> i never take them. go on my phone, no self neice there.
