vote. >> and hillary clinton was off the campaign trail, preparing for tomorrow's debate. and you can watch donald trump and hillary clinton square off in the debate as the second presidential one, tomorrow night, it start at 9:00 here on cbs-3. should be good one to watch. >> new this morning, police make arrest in a double shooting in philadelphia's fairhill section. police tell us two men were shot at the intersection of cambria and rosehill. eighteen year old man was shot in the leg, 22 jerold man was shot in the thigh. both are in the hospital, no details on their conditions known at this time. >> hurricane matthew is weakening, but the category two storm is still causing major problems, as it lashes the southeast with torrential rain and disrupted winds, edward laurence reports now from charleston, south carolina. >> hurricane matthew moves north along the southeast coast. >> the best thing now to just hunker down don't try and mover around, make sure to have your cell phones charged.

>> in folly beach south carolina matthew churned up heavy waves and dangerous surf while heavy rain and flooding pounded savannah georgia, in charleston the streets were abandoned after the city ordered midnight to 6:00 a.m. curfew. hurricane matthew says the southeast coast into high alert becoming the most powerful storm to hit the united states in over a decade. flashflood watches are out when you add this much water on top of the salt water moving in, certainly flooding could be big concern headed into the weekend. >> more than million people without power in florida, aftermath ooh's fierce winds knocked down trees and power lines. >> i live through hurricane andrew in homestead. so i was expecting some crazy stuff edward laurence, cbs news, south carolina. >> haiti put the death toll there at 300 people from matthew, but believe there are many more victims from areas wiped out the the hurricane and specially tough low for haiti of courts that country still struggling to recover from the devastating

recommendation. the district sent letters home with student explaining the testing, and more about what the district is doing about it. >> the message is that the retesting is actually done so that we can continue to provide assurance of safe and healthy and accessible water. they will receive a letter. school employees did shut off the affected water fountains within 24 hours of receiving the high test result, district plans to have reminder of the district schools tested within 18 months. >> and area contractor under fire for faulty work that could cost resident thousands of dollars to repair. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff has the latest on lawsuit that's been filed against the contractor. >> pennsylvania has filed suit against the largest privately owned residential builder in the delaware valley. the office of the attorney general claims that the david cutler group systematically failed to comply with codes and standards in the installation of stucco. >> they may have followed the letter of the code to, you know, to follow that to a t,

>> time 6:16. bomb squad was called to boston county christian school in mantua after someone found live explosive device. school's principal says he found a small device in a wooded area behind the school where crews have recently cleared a path for new nature trail. bomb squad was able to detonate the device on site,

hours specially south and east of the city we start to get steady rain in here, some of it coming from actually hurricane matthew combined with cold front. so certainly not a wash out today. this weekend not going to be a wash out. if you like cooler weather you will love tomorrow's forecast, really the next week, classic october wind light across the reason on, however, dealing with some clouds, across the delaware valley. 56 degrees, up in blue bell right now, jerry mostly cloudy skies, his home in florida in good shape, he says, good thing, matthew continues to move to the north and east just off the south carolina coast right now. head to new jersey chilly 53, out at ed connor's house, bill more clearing going on in chesterfield new jersey at this hour. further south in delaware we check out what's happening at john's house, clear skies, 60 in glasco, and those overcast skies will continue to spread across the delaware valley,

like i said, afternoon, start to see showers moving in from the southwest to north and east. we take you to the live neighborhood network from the palmyra cove nature park across the river, see skyline there. 589 degrees, a light breeze, 1 mile per hour wind out of the northwest today. so, wind not an issue. that is going to change later tonight, tomorrow, the winds will kick up out of the north, and that will start to bring in that cooler, fall air mass, into the region. there you go. there is matthew about 20 miles southeast of hilton headment look at all of the heavy rain. over most of south carolina, moving into north carolina as well. then that moisture moves northward, into central virginia, and then you get some rain in western pennsylvania, the cold front. these two features combine together will bring some showers in here, especially this afternoon, into tonight. wind speeds through the day today like i said, not real a problem. they'll be out of the east, and this evening, still looking okay. but once we get the cold front through, northerly winds overtake the region by the

time you wake up tomorrow morning. pretty good wind, ten, 15, maybe 20 miles per hour out of the north. that's going to rush in the cooler air. it stays breezy, throughout the day on sunday. so here is the latest as of 5:00 a.m. on matthew again, winds at 105, just off the south carolina coast, starting to move more north-northeast, will ride the carolina coastline over the next 24 hours, still piling up the water. so we have the storage surge, five to seven main even six to 9 feet or part of south carolina into the southern half of north carolina. so hurricane warnings remain in effect through myrtle beach, even tropical storm warnings up through hatteras as the storm continues to move to the north and eastment look at this winds field. hurricane force winds in red. it does make inland, we have gusts 85 miles per hour around tiny island the past hour. and those hurricane force winds ride along the coastline then the storm starts to move out to sea by tomorrow morning. so improving conditions. this time sunday, that's good news. this doesn't show justice,

4 inches or higher, probably more like 15, across eastern carolina here's what's happening for us, matthew to the south, colds front to the north. some of the moisture comes together, bringing rain in here specially later tonight. could be some steady rain in south jersey. check it out. not much happening this morning. into the afternoon we start to get some showers in here, not whole lot around philadelphia and areas north and west. then this evening, look at that, some steady rain tries it break out. south jersey, delaware, still could be raining tomorrow morning at the shore. but then we get some sunshine, by sunday afternoon, watch what happens to the temperatures. today still mild above average low 70s, tonight, cool, 50's, to about 60 degrees, then tomorrow, we struggle to get to the mid maybe upper 60s, if we see enough sunshine. so for today, watch out for the afternoon showers. seventy-two. showers around tonight. becoming breezy, 55 for the low. here is the extended forecast, 60s through the first half of next week actually columbus day, coolest at 6a we will get overnight lows in the 40's, all right, rahel, break out the heavy coat. >> and the hat and the gloves

"eyewitness news" health reporter stephanie stahl has more on stellar, and the controversial psa test. >> forty-eight year old ben stellar cancer free and credit psa blood test. on the howard southern show he said he wanted to tell his story and encourage other men to be tested. >> at first i didn't know what was going to happen. so i was scared. i was scared. i didn't know. one thing it does it, just stops everything in your life. >> he said his doctor decided to include psa test in annual physical exam when he was 46. even though he wasn't considered high risk. it is unclear why that was done four years early. the american cancer society recommends the psa test

starting at age 50. >> i think that he was very brave to come out with it. >> doctor allen, the chief of neurology at penn medicine says while a lot of debate about screenings and treatments for prostate cancer ben stellar is helping to raise awareness men need to have conversations with their doctors i'm a great believer in that shared decision-making if you tell patient what the facts are, then they should be able to choose whether they want something or not. >> stellar had his prostate removed and able to avoid radiation, which can cause side effect like inch continents, and i am poe tens. >> had he waited until age 55, to be screened, i think that unfortunately the outcome may have been different. >> the biggest risk factors for developing prostate cancer include age, being african-american, and having family history. when diagnosed early, with a psa blood test, and physical exam, it is very curable. i'm stephanie stahl, cbs-3,

starting to make the turn to the north and east as expected riding along the carolina coastline, winds still at 105 for maximum sustained, so that's category two storm, again the track continues to the north and east, then tries to make the loop back to the bahamas over the next four days, good news is the storm will slowly weaken in time. by this time tomorrow morning, much better for the carolinas, storm starts to move out to sea winds start to diminish, still tropical storm as early as early monday morning, look at the ones respect just pounding the carolinas so this will pile up the water here, so storm surge, potential, maybe six to 99 feet for the carolinas, through the next 24 hours, still very windy, late tonight, across outer banks, then the storm starts to move off shore. the winds switch out of the northwest, off shore winds, putting ends to storm surge. so better news there. and in the next day. look at the estimated rainfall amount. last 48 hours, you get to the orange, that's 5 inches of rain, then you get to the darker purple here, look at that, ten maybe 12 inches,

probably going to get to up 15 maybe close to 20 inches every rain before the storm is out of here. it is the colds front that's going to bring us some rain today help push matthew out to sea early tomorrow morning, and then it continues to push to the east eventually back to the south. high pressure replaces cold front, that bridges in the cooler drier air mass, starting early tomorrow morning, you will feel big difference. today, mild, low 70s, ahead of the front. tonight cool 50's to about 60. then tomorrow's highs struggle to make it back into the mid and upper 60s, even with some sunshine. so for today, watch out for the showers, afternoon, 72 degrees for the high, still going to have some rain around tonight. specially some steady rain south jersey 55 for the low. here is the extended forecast, nice october weather, early next week, look at columbus day, six an in the sun, keep it upper 60s about 70 over the next several days, over night lows, rahel, down into the 40's for the city. maybe even some upper 30's in the coldest suburbs. >> that's when it feels really cold at night. >> that's when it start settling in, winter around the
