philadelphia, and windy at the shore throughout the entire day. dry in the poconos in the 50's. the here's what is happening with the cold front sweeping on through, wind kick up, we're talking about below average high temperatures next few days with cold nights ahead we will talk about it more with the full forecast in a few minutes, back to you. we will check back in, justin. developing this morning in california a policeman has a gunman in custody for killing two police officers and hurting another. one officer had just return to the force from maternity leave. the other was working an extra shift. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live from the cbs-3 sat center with live, good morning, cherri. >> reporter: good morning. after an eight hour standoff that included five round of tear gas, robots and bull horn negotiations the riverside county sheriff's deputy tweeted that the suspect has been taken in custody. man is accused of killing two police officers. six three-year old jose gill vega and 23 year-old leslie zereby leaving the palm springs community in mourning.

police and community members gathered saturday night, outside of the palm springs desert regional medical center. where officers leslie zereby and jose bill gert vega died of their wound. the officer's coffins were wheeled out of the hospital and gently lifted in to white hearsts, a third officer remains in the hospital. being treated for gunshot wound. police chief brian reyes says that the three officers were shot while answering a call from a women who said that her adult son was causing a disturbance. the chief said officers were at the front door of the home negotiating with the suspect when he decided to open up fire. two of the officers were killed. six three-year old jose gill vega, a father of eight was a 35 year veteran of the police department, he was scheduled to retire in december. twenty-seven year-old leslie zereby, had been on the force for 18 months, and recently returned from a maternity leave. she leaves behind a husband,

unloading garbage from his you hall when he fell 45 feet down a trash pit. he later died at a hospital. lower merion refuge department was accepting household trash and recycling as part of the fall lean up event. merely a dozen people are hurt in a train crash in garden city, new york. a commuter train derailed east of new york city after it hit a work train on the track. it happened after 9:00 near new hyde park. spokesmen for long island railroad said 600 people were on the train when it crashed but then none of the injuries are life threatening. the train service has been suspended in bet directions. for the first time since a deadly train crash new jersey transit is reopening a portion of the hoboken terminal tomorrow. the terminal sustained extensive damage, following the train crash on september 29th investigators say morning rush her train accelerated just before the accident, and then the engineer put on the breaks less than one second before the collision. one person standing on the track died more than 110 others were hurt. is there still much more

steady rain continuing to fall. basically from the city, on southward. check it the out there was really no movement in that northern edge of the rain, just stuck, just north of philadelphia, so we will be good northern bucks and montgomery and chester county and ports northward. those cloud will give waste to sunshine. slow progression east this morning but still steady rain south injuries think to delaware. we have reports of 2 inches of rain, flood advisory for parts of the southern new jersey, cape may county and atlantic county. so just watch out for potential for flooded roadways, ponding, high crow planing and reduced visibility when traveling this morning. the these are rain estimates, over past 24 hours. you can see that edge over philadelphia going southward and amounts start piling up. again in the yellow and orange, two to 3 inches on have rain from dover southward, closer to 4-inch's cross extreme southern delaware. not good news because they are coming off that storm, that dropped 13 inches of rain in sussex county, delaware. that is why a flash flood watch is in effect for kent,

sussex, through noon time today. temperatures it is cool right now. that wind and rain, 50's, and they will hold steady next several hours. here's cool air to the north and west. forty-one in michigan. forty-six. thirty's in minneapolis. that chilly air mass will spread south and east once this front moves through. we are talking about below average temperatures for next few days. where we should be is closer to 70, not happening. we will bean low that, today, tomorrow, tuesday, we will be close to average for wednesday and thursday and we will get back to below average by even of the week into next weekend and stay cool up the mountains. typical. but pretty nice. partly sunny skies. 58 degrees in the poconos. mid 50's tomorrow. we have plenty of sunshine. back to the lower 60's on tuesday. starting to get that change in the fall foliage and what you want is a mild afternoon and cool nights and we will get that next few days. high colored change in new england and not a whole lot yet around delaware valley. we will get our peak in october. we have a few weeks to go but

cloudy skies from the city south and east we're dealing with steady rain during morning hours but we will start to dry out, heading lake this morning in the afternoon and should see sunshine but will turn windy, colder as well. rain's we are dealing with ace combination of the cold front and less with matthew. you can see that steady rain setting up north of the city and then south and east, and pockets of heavier rain continuing to hit the shore pretty hard, you can see brighter yellow there in south jersey and delaware we have flood warnings there. just watch out for ponding on the roads, and roads, maybe smaller streams, or creeks could be on the rise later this morning into today. rain around, mainly during morning south and east, and in philadelphia, slow travel, a lot of ponding on the roads, hydroplaning going on and watch out for some clearing, basically from west to east, flood advisory for coastal new jersey cape may county and, eastern atlantic county and wind advisory is in effect until 6:00 o'clock this this evening for southern new

that the suspect a accused of killing them is now in custody. a triple shooting, following what appeared to be a routine, 911 call, a mother said her adult son was causing a disturbance, the officers arrived at the home and tried to talk the suspect down but things went ary. >> we were sitting here watching tv and we heard a couple bang, bang and looked out and went crazy, it was wrapped fire. >> reporter: all three officers were shot. >> officers there what i understand were near the front door trying to negotiate with the suspect just to comply. it was a simple, domestic advertise turn and he elect to open fire. >> reporter: officers were rushed to the hospital two died from their injuries. police joined the community in mourning their loss. the in a vigil, officer gill vega, a father of eight was 63 years old. he had been on the force for 35 years and set to retire this december. >> we have an officer who was
