island and its 60,000 residents. today people calmly went about their preparations boarding up windows and getting some last minute groceries. severe flooding from hurricane matthew continues to force evacuations in north carolina. lumberton is one of the hardest hit areas, town's sister city in south jersey knows what they're going through and is sending help. natasha brown joins us in lumberton burlington county with more on the effort. natasha, good evening. >> reporter: well, ukee, good evening to you. lumberton, new jersey, is certainly seen its share of devastating flooding over the years, which is why many residents here are now stepping up to help their fellow lumber toneians down south. images of deadly flooding in lumberton, north carolina are heart wrenching, homes are under water. lives lost in the wake hurricane matthew >> our flow lumber toneian >> more than 500 miles away but not far removed from flooding whoas, the mayor and folks in

lumberton new jersey are offering a helping hasn't. >> in 2004, they actually sent care packages up to us and our residents with supplies and monetary donations through the red cross. >> devastating flooding in 2004 still fresh in the minds of lumberton new jersey officials. they readily accepted donations from folks in lumberton, north carolina in 04 and are now repaying the affair. collecting donations for their fellow lumber toneians down tunneling >> we're looking for cleaning supplies, toiletries, personal hygiene items >> they got their handful, they're working diligently to make sure those people displaced have a place to go. and when the clean-up process starts, they have supplies. >> reporter: for residents in lumberton north carolina, clean-up process will be slow. the recovery relendless. every donation will matter. even from hundreds miles away. >> it takes a lot of people in order to get people's lives back to norman. we just want to be part of that. that's what we're reaching out

would lock up the parents because this is a disgrace. >> a 13-year-old carrying the rifle is facing weapons charges another teen is charged with receiving stolen property. no direct charge have been filed related to the carjacking. philadelphia police need your help find, the suspects in a home invasion caught on camera. you see one suspect walk right into the home on the 1300 block of hellerman street in oxford circle chase thing that owner from her couch. not long after a second comes through the door. the victim who did not want to be identified spoke with "eyewitness news." >> really wish they would catch the two guys quick and i wish they would just be prosecuted. i don't wish any ill will on them. i go to church every sunday. and i just, i just pray for them. >> those suspects got away with cash and a gun. now to an "eyewitness news" exclusive. tomorrow will mark one year since a haddon township toddler was found dead in the woods.

and the mystery continues as to exactly how he died. tonight for the first time his mother spoke exclusively with our david spunt about her son and what she wants you to know about his short and important life >> he was big crazy ball of joy. >> samantha wants people to know the real brendon creato. >> he was the kind of kid he would trample you. he would just go. >> reporter: but life sadly ended. his body discovered around 6:30 a.m. on october 13th, 2015. just a half mile from his dad dj creato's apartment in haddon township where he spent the night >> he had him for the day at my mom's house. >> reporter: that was last time samantha saw her only child. there were no obvious signs of

foul play and an autopsy and toxicology report came back with no definitive answer as to what happened. police charged brendon's dad with murder. samantha calls eight nightmare. >> take your time. >> reporter: we talked about brendon's life and focused on the positive energy he brought. >> he was great. >> matt is samantha's boyfriend and also spent a lot of time with him and remembers taking him to the beach >> his home was everything where we loved to go. >> i try to drive by there on my way home every day just to see the little memorial >> now samantha and matt are once again thinking of brendon one year after his untimely death working with the local community and will soon install a bench here honoring brendon. >> this is something i actually created. >> samantha showed us some brendon's favorite to his. she spend months making this

schools in our area. water testing began this summer shows 20 out of 26 trenton public school buildings have elevated lead levels in the water fountains and faucets. more than 1,000 times above federal safety standards, the district said it's taken contaminated fountains and faucets and replacing plumbing components. it is fire prevention week and the city held what it called a city-wide fire drill. the fire department simulate add fire in the home of the green family in west philly. the drill allowed the family to implement their escape plan and let firefighter run through their procedures. the fire commissioner says the event is all about educating people on the importance of being prepared in case fire strikes. popular phone sparked a nationwide safety warning. owners are scrambling to return the divorces >> wait until you see the links

especially in the the suburbs. honed the cold front, this cool canadian high builds in for friday. you're going to feel this nice cool crisp october air with temperatures in the mid 60's friday into the weekend. we start tomorrow way good deal of sunshine, this is 11:00 a.m. the clouds start to roll if by midday. couple showers here and there. very light and spotty. 3:00 tomorrow then they pretty much move on out and i think we'll see the return of sunshine before the day is through tomorrow. let's take a look at hurricane nicole. this is a dangerous situation for the island of bermuda. take a look at nicole's eye. well-defined and this storm continues to strengthen. neck, as of 11:00 it is now a category 4 major hurricane. the winds have jumped to 130 miles per hour. very dangerous and this is bearing down bermuda likely to make landfall looks like a direct hit. a category 3 hurricane this is pretty rare. bermuda tends to get grazed by a lot of storm but a direct hit by
