chester university. so what are you hearing. >> reporter: jim, this just in according to the faculty unions, twitter account the faculty union is officially thousand on strike. we were checking out their on line web site as well and that has been overloaded so they say an official press release will be visible very soon. now, both side, both state and union have been talking about this on social media in the overnight hours, both had said they were hoping to reach an agreement and hoping to avoid a strike but that doesn't look like the case today. the union officially now on strike. take a look at the video this strike impacts more than a hundred thousand students at 14 pennsylvania state universities including right here at west chester university. now the faculty union said it was handed the states last and best offer late last night and then union spent overnight hours reviewing the 25 pages. according to the state the offer provided raises to all permanent, tell rare i faculty and provided a health care

package identical to what other system em lease of. the state also said it has withdrawn several proposals in order to reach an agreement but apparently the terms weren't good enough. the state has said said even in the case of the strike students should are plan to report to their scheduled class today that is unless the university says otherwise. we will keep an eye on out that. this is a developing, breaking story right now. this is first strike in the state system's 34 years. faculty union took to social media overnight and they had this to say. >> we are willing and still willing we are sitting here right where we were to continue to knee gosh but by the same token, there has to be a point where we stand up for ourselves, where we stand up for all of our collogues. >> take a look at this, students are already weighing in, one student tweeting quote our professors sacrifice every day for us so my friend and i brought snacks and water will

will stand besides them. most concerned are the seniors here, of course, they are just credits and months away from graduation. state has said if a strike were to take place that grades could be delayed. temple university and penn state are not impact, by this strike but, of course, folks here at west chester university are very concern. we are still waiting to see exactly how this impacts classes here. developing story, we will keep you up to date. jim, back to you. thanks, jan. a good samaritan is in the hospital after he was shot, trying to stop an armed robbery in rittenhouse square. this happened around 9:00 last night at 19th and walnut. investigators tell "eyewitness news" that two men were trying to rob a group of people in the park, when a 39 year-old man, intervened. that victim was shot several times in the chest and torso, and one resident, says that she's not advised by the violence. >> the square has change over the past couple of years, and
