11:02 pm
by many interruptions on issues that clearly divide the two candidates. the third and final presidential debate got off to a jump start with donald trump and hillary clinton heading straight for the podiums, no handshakes or cordial exchanges. both began by tackling supreme court appointments which quickly turned to the abortion second amendment >> we need a supreme court that's going to uphold the second amendment and all amendments but the second >> i see month conflict between saving people's lifts and defending the second amendment. >> the questions turned to immigration where donald trump defended building a wall with mexico. >> we have bad, bad people in this country that have to go out. we're going to get them out, security border and once the border is secured at a later date we'll make a determination as to the rest. we have bad people here and we're going to get them out >> when it comes to the wall, he

went to mexico, had a meeting with the mexican president, didn't raise it choked and then got into a twitter war. >> the exchange between the two candidates when wikileaks was brought up and e-mail hacks? the russian government has engaged in espionage against americans. they have hacked american websites, american accounts, right of people. >> i don't know putin. he said nice things about me. we got along well, that would be good. from everything i see has no respect for this person. >> that's because he'd rather had a puppet as president >> you're the puppet >> the issue to be president brought to light the allegations of sexual assault by several women against donald trump, accusations he flatly denies >> first of all those stories have been largely debunk. i don't know those people. i have a feeling how they came.

i believe it was her campaign. >> donald thinks belittling women makes him bigger. he goes after their dignity. their self worth and i don't think there is a woman anywhere who doesn't know what that feels like. >> this was the final chance to try to sway undecided voters possibly in this election with just three weeks left until election day. donald trump meantime recently alleged that the election process is rigged. when asked if he would concede the result it's of the election he said he'll wait and see. live in the stat center, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news" thank you so much. back in election central. let's pick up on what you just ended with. we're going to hear from both side. joining me in republican analyst and former aid and the democratic analyst and john in

an sidell. you heard natasha what happened. donald trump said he would not affirm the results. >> i've been doing this 40 years. that's probably the worst statement i ever heard. that the a violation of foundation of who we are as a democracy. i have never found any candidate that did not accept the result it's of election day. for him to question it and to say it was rigged when most of our elections are decentralizeded is disgraced. >> jonathan and i don't agree on much but on that point we do agree. this country is always been on a journey of ideals. i think throughout this campaign, people have been looking for something to be excited about and something to rally around truly an american ideal. the people's transition of power is one and it was low point i

think in tonight's debate. >> he says he doesn't believe in the polls, did he do anything to decrease the gap >> i don't think i think candidate did themselves any favors tonight. i was watching both of them trying to think, about the first debate compared to the second and this one was swaying the undecided voters. i don't think any of them did anymore tonight than speak to the people they've already been speaking to. i don't know there were any new issues brought up or new ideas raised. it was in content it was a bit of a disappointing debate. if i was undecided i don't know that i got anything new >> what about you >> i think that the statements by donald trump are not based on fact, they're based on fiction, his answers are hysterical, lies and innuendos and attack, the other candidate when he didn't have an answer. to me, he's trying to galvanize his base, which is well below the majority that you need to be

president of the united states. i know what he's going to do the day after the election. i don't think he's running for president the way i would hope that for my children and grandchildren there would be two respectful people talking. >> it is now in the hands of the american people. we thank you both for your insight. thank you so much. let's go back inside nicole has a lot to talk about >> i had a chance to see real-time reactions with our panel during the debate. i'll be speaking with some of them live about some of the issues that sparked positive and negative responses in about five minutes. a small plane crashes into the backyard of a home in camden county. tonight we're hearing from the homeowner and we've learned the identity of one of the two people aboard who was injured. what a difference a month make. before the first debates hillary clinton held a 1 point. now it's six points in favor of clinton. nicole brewer sat with a panel of voters as they watched the debate. joins us to speak with some of them about what they saw as the biggest moments tonight. >> we invited these folks to the cbsphilly studios as part of a focus group. really, it was diverse one. some of them voted, say they will vote for trump, clinton. others are not voting for anyone.
11:14 pm
we did see pretty big moments. one of them was early on from republican nominee donald trump when asked about immigration he did very well with the group when discussing the heroin problem and dealing with the drug lords. things kind of took a turn when he used the spanish word. take a look. >> we're going to secure the border. once it's secured at a later date we'll make a determination as to the rest. we have some bad umbres here. >> i'm standing by this is michael. you actually are a trump supporter but you had a negative reaction to his comment. >> yes. i think he's got a lot of good ideas. but seems like every time he speaks we get sidetracked by these juvenile type comments and don't get to focus on the issues. i wish he had a little bit better filter so we don't get
11:15 pm
sidetracked. >> we appreciate your comment. art big moment was when the candidates discussed their opponent's fitness to be president. trump challenged the ethics of the clintons foundation and hillary clinton brought up the fact that trump won't release his tax returns. >> why don't you give back the money that you taken from certain countries that treat certain groups of people so horribly, the first candidate ever to run for president in the last 40 plus years who has not released his tax returns >> another one of our voters, we have kathy tom kins you feel this campaign is focused on the individual less on the issue >> i think we've established both chats have problems and maybe both parties aren't exactly thrilled about their candidate of choice. i think what we need to see more of is policy.
11:16 pm
we need to hear more about what these candidates are standing for when they're talking about gun control and abortion and immigration i think these are issues we should be focused more on rather than personal attacks >> you noticed there was a lot of one-liners. >> i think this like taking away mike was saying from the actual issues and it's getting a little bit juvenile. it's hard and distracting to watch the debate when it's constantly personal attacks back and forth. >> thank you. the final moment at least for this particular group came from that same section fitness to be president. we saw a huge jump for clinton when she spoke about trump assertion, the election is rigged. >> he didn't get an emmy for his tv program three years in a row and started tweeting that the emmies were rigged. this is a mindset. this is how donald thinks. >> and back here live with
11:17 pm
another of our voters. this is kerry. you had certain reaction to clinton taking trump to task over the rigged election. >> i actually was really excited with clinton for making that distinction. oftentimes we forget about the president as people and i think hillary clinton is basically saying that donald trump always claims something to be rig asked basically who he is. if he's going to get upset and claim something is unfair we don't need that sort of person in the presence. we need a president that is comfortable, very comfortable in uncomfortable situation and that's basically what hillary clinton was saying donald trump can't do. >> and you are a clinton supporter. >> thank you. i'ming going to do go ahead and bring in. you actually provided the technology the hand held devices that all of our 19 voters had in hand to track reaction.
11:18 pm
noticed interesting trends. one of them was men versus women. >> yes. we were able to use magnets during consulting technology to measure how different groups within your voters set reacteded. we saw that male voters were very much more likely to be favoring trump than female voters on quite a few different categories. we had the fitness for president category. that was important. we saw that for men, they were tied just about evenly when they responded to who they thought was better on that issue. the men were tied but the women were strongly in favor of hillary on that issue >> i know this isn't a representative sample but what does it say about reaction to those candidates >> i think that shows us how differently hillary clinton finds her base in female support, women support.
11:19 pm
when you look also at the other issues, the economy, fitness for president in general, the supreme court. she has a lot of better scores we could say with the female population at least in this group today as they listen >> we do have to wrap this up. we notice people say they want to focus on the issue, when they have a one liner, a z inger from each candidate >> you could see a significant burst in the reaction, they liked it, interested in it and does help them remember what's going to go on with the issues but it may not have staying power in the voting booth. >> thanks so much guys for being part. ukee, we'll send it back. the clinton campaign will be holding a get out to vote. katie perry will re performing november 5th and based on joe
