we start with breaking news, multiple houses burned in the two alarm fire in south philadelphia. "eyewitness news" is live on the scene, as this fire broke out at 3:20 this morning this is 1,000 block of faulter street. flames spread to nearby home all resident and pets got out, one person transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation. and new this morning a man is shot trying to buy an iphone six. we are live with the craigs list sale that went who are bring wrong overnight. toe to toe on issues like rush, economy and immigration hillary clinton and donald trump face off in their final debate, a tense showdown in sin city, ahead our campaign coverage, the most controversial moment of the night. it is thursday, october 20th, good morning i'm jim donovan.

carabao is live outside southwest detectives with the the latest on the investigation, good morning. police say this shooting victim is really lucky he wasn't more seriously injured overnight and now remind people who do business on web site like craigs list to be short about it. take a lot at video, this robbery and shooting happened just before 11:00 last night here at rite aide on 63rd and lebanon in overbrook. police say a hand and woman from delaware county came here to buy an iphone six listed on craigs list, seller set the location which police say turned out to be this dark parking lot of the closed rite aide. investigators say when the pair arrived the to 22-year old man took out his money to make the purchase. that is when the seller pulled out a gun and tried to rob him. police say they struggled and victim ended upshot in the leg. he got back in his car and with his friend they drove to a kfc just blocks away to call police for help.

in two trapping two men inside, both were taken to cooper hospital and they are expect to survive, home owner dorothy williams said she was shocked to come home from work and find a plane in her backyard. >> i'm just prayer full that they both survived and that they didn't hit the house and that you know they will recover well. >> no one on the ground was hurt, no homes were also damage, county hazmat officials will be back at the crash site to make sure no fuel is leaking from the wreckage. authorities are investigating a police involve shooting in philadelphia's hey fair neighborhood. officers shot a rifle wielding man on the 6300 block of crafton street around 6:00 o'clock yesterday. investigators say officers asked the man to put down the weapon and shot him in the arm after he didn't listen. the doctors are treating the suspect at aria torresdale hospital. well, police issued an arrest warrant for a 17 year old wanted for that shooting in rittenhouse square park. police say that the teen shot a good samaritan five times.

that good samaritan was trying to stop the teen and another suspect, from robbing a couple. police say that 17 year-old actually knew the couple he was trying to rob, good samaritan is now recovering at the hospital. unionized faculty members at 14 state universities in pennsylvania are now in their second day of strike. many students will again, show up to empty classrooms this morning, west chester university is one of the five area schools affect. faculty went on strike at 5:00 r the state's final best offer fell short on health care and salary expectations. both side are also clashing over issues with curriculum including adjunct professors. the some students joined the picket lines in solidarity. flyers opened up their home portion of their 50th anniversary season tonight when they host the anaheim ducks. before the opening face off the flyers will hoist banner to honor late owner ed snide shore died in april. coach dave hacks sol and flyers are coming off a loss to the black hawks and one-one-one on the season so

providence township were a tribute to first responders. the here's had they looked like, before they were destroyed tuesday morning, one with the red stripe, other with the blue stripe, home owner tells "eyewitness news" that the the flags were in support of the local police and fire department. she has a message for the culprit. >> i understand that there is in equalities, for women, is there in equalities for black, in equalities for hispanic, they are all over but this is not the way to solve it. >> she is replacing flags on family's porch and says she will continue to support her military family and friend and family in red and blue. all right. well, a record breaking yesterday but calendar does say october. apparently it will start to feel like it, right, katie. >> yesterday we had a record smashing number on the thermometer, we will end up hitting 86 degrees, over achieving, yet again when average high was 66 degrees. today was 65. still in the mid 60's but solid 20 above average.

not bad if you are a fan of that warmth but that is starting to go by the way side. that was last day like it because we are seeing not only the next frontal boundary move in here but more potent cold front that comes tomorrow. so for now we will find on storm scan three it is decent moisture to work with. heavy rain falling and even pretty heavy thunderstorms as well from north central pennsylvania back into the midwest and ohio valley and then eventually we will see a shower here as well, but the cold front that comes through is our best shot for steady rain. you can see that, as well in the central plains. another day present that arrives. in the meantime that cold front will be what is responsible for drastic drop on the thermometer. grant today isn't as warm as yesterday but you're talking about a cold, surge of air, that moves in here from canada to push is back to temperatures that barely even hit 60. we are not even forecasting 60 at this point. it will only break in the 50's on saturday, dealing with the wind factor much more like the 40's. even at the height of the the day.

>> yes. >> a lot of people will be tired today. a lot of people the roads right now they are looking great. one thing i'm getting tweeted about they want to know if it will rain during the morning commute. >> nope, you are good. you might see drop of rain on the windshield. not enough, for one thing, an umbrella but might put windshield wipers on wraps. you can see even on storm scan that further inland there are a few showers popping up out there but further inland. unless you are traveling to the state capitol you have business out that way maybe you'll see wet weather before the morning drive is all said and done, perhaps even in the accounts stream, western edge of our suburbs. the here's philadelphia, traveling, i think you're good. you will sees additional cloud, skew sunrise, but overall in the bad at all. meanwhile as day progresses, we could see a stay shower. this isn't a wet day, enough to make mention of the fact to see a shower, but not enough that it absolutely desperately requires the umbrella though. it is one of those days. sixty-five for the
