"eyewitness news" was at a get out the vote block party today as well. several community groups organized this event just outside of philadelphia city hall. they reminded those who came out that your voice is your vote. the republican party meantime of pennsylvania has filed a lawsuit challenging a provision in the election code. they say the lieu requiring poll watchers to serve only in the counties where they reside is actually a violation of the constitution. eight pennsylvania voters are also plaintiffs in the lawsuit. democrats responded by calling the lawsuit a publicity stunt. just over two weeks now until election day. stay with cbs3 "eyewitness news" for complete campaign coverage both on air and online.

"eyewitness news" here at burger lane on the 2800 block of north 22nd street where police say a 23-year-old man was shot and killed and a 16-year-old boy was wounded this afternoon. the teen is stable at the hospital. police have no leads on a shooter not just yet. and a police involved shooting in philadelphia is still under investigation and officers are still searching for a a lot of one suspect that got away. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh has the details from west philly. >> i just heard them like consecutive nine shots and then nine more shots and maybe a couple more. after that them coming outside to see what's going on. >> reporter: it's a 4:00 a.m. wakeup call raymond billingsly wasn't expecting. >> i saw the police running up the street. >> reporter: early saturday morning 19th district police officers patrolling the area drove right by suspicious activity on the 500 block of north 56th street. >> see and hear gun shots

coming from that vehicle. they make a u-turn. they take a tactical position on the side of the building. they approach the vehicle by foot. the vehicle is occupied by three individuals and one, a fourth is standing outside the vehicle. >> reporter: while one officer pursued a suspect who took off running the other ordered the three men inside the toyota to get out. >> driver exits the vehicle. the officer is telling him to remove his hands show his hands. he refuses to obey those commands. he makes a step towards the officer and the officer discharges his weapon. >> reporter: that bullet struck the suspect in the left arm. he's expected to be okay. the officer who shot him is on administrative leave while authorities investigate which is standard procedure in instances like this. this is the car that police say those suspects fired from. they found about 14 shell casings nearby. what's any other clear is their intention. >> whether they were just shooting in the air, whether they were having a -- shooting at someone else, that's still

what investigators have to determinism one woman is also in custody after police say she dialed 911 on scene threatening to kill the officers involved for shooting her relative. >> her family member was not the individual that was actually shottism billingsly who has lived on this block for 10 years says the violence must end. in west philadelphia, anita oh, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> authorities say a 17-year-old has turned himself into police in connection with the shooting in rittenhouse square. tarago flint was shot five times tuesday night. police say the 39-year-old hero intervened when a 17-year-old and another man attempted to rob a young couple at gunpoint. police say the teenage suspects knew the couple he was robbing. a pedestrian was struck and killed on route 73 earlier this morning in maple shade, new jersey. the accident happened about 3 a.m. the driver stopped and was taken to the hospital. no word on that person's condition. and two philadelphia police officers were injured in a crash in the city's

germantown neighborhood. it happened shortly before 3 a.m. near germantown avenue and high street. authorities say the unmarked police vehicle was struck by another car head-none. both of the officers were taken to roxborough memorial hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the cause is still under investigation tonight. and a big turnout at the annual walk now for autism speaks event. "eyewitness news" at citizens bank park. dozens walked to help raise money to support vital research and also top quality programs that are changing the future for those who struggle with autism. pennsylvania governor tom wolf was among the many officials on hand to thank autism parents. >> the most important thing about autism i would like people to know is that it's very important that you get into that person's world. like whatever their quirk is, whatever it is that they like they just want to be accepted just like everybody else. even if it's something you might not do on a normal basis it's very important that you get into that world and try to

we had this week in philadelphia on wednesday, a record high temperature smashing 86 degrees. even yesterday our high temperature hit 80 degrees and then today a giant tumble, our high temperature only 56 degrees. our average should have us in the middle 60's. temperatures have fallen off currently in the 40's across much of the area in the upper 40's in the lehigh valley. same case in berks county, we're down into the 30's in the poconos and even some 40's down the shore, 48 degrees right now in a.c. and then we have those strong winds as well. wind speeds right now up around 15, 20, 28 miles per hour in mount pocono. we had the gusty conditions throughout the day today. wind gusts reported at barnegat lighthouse 50 miles per hour, 43 top wind gust in mount pocono and at philadelphia international airport we topped out around 38 miles per hour. but still strong winds especially in some of those higher elevations, gusting to 30 miles per hour right now in wildwood and gusting to 25 miles per hour in lancaster and overnight tonight we'll keep around those blustery conditions, mostly clear skies

and 44 degrees would tie for our coolest temperature of the season so far. but as we head into tomorrow afternoon, temperatures will he rebound to seasonable levels. not a bad day, mostly sunny, still a bit breezy but not those same intense wind gusts that we saw throughout the day today. do pick up some much needed rainfall because of this strong frontal boundary last night and for the first half of the day today. atlantic city picking up over a half inch same case in doylestown. picked up about .4 in mount pocono and about .2 at philadelphia international airport all do to this very potent system. notice that counterclockwise circulation around the center of the he low positioned across parts of new england bringing snowfall to parts of upstate new york. parts of the adirondacks pick up about one to 3-inches of snowfall. in the delaware valley skies will be have been clearing out still maintaining a cloud cover deck as we look north of the lehigh valley but otherwise good viewing conditions as we head into the night for that meteor shower. we'll talk about that a little bit later in our hour forecast. tomorrow clear skies make for

good viewing conditions of the birds taking on the vikings kickoff temperature 62 degrees so not too bad but of course might be a little bit chillier so you'll need those layers with that west wind about 10 to 20 miles per hour. overnight dropping back to 35 in mount pocono, 40 in allentown. we'll fall back to 44 degrees in millville and for the day tomorrow. still windy conditions across much of the region. sunshine down the shore. a few more clouds in the poconos with high temperatures in the middle 50's but generally we'll top off in the 60's. 63 degrees the high temperature on our sunday in trenton. topping off at 64 degrees in wildwood. and in your seven-day forecast, we keep it seasonable into monday. still breezy as well. sunshine in store but then as we head into tuesday and wednesday, temperatures cool off once again. 57 degrees the high on tuesday. middle 50's for wednesday. and we'll start off in the 30's for the first time this season in philadelphia on wednesday morning. same case on thursday morning before temperatures start to rebound towards the end of

"eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in university city where clinton rallied supporters tonight. trang. >> reporter: well, natasha, those thousands and thousands of people waited for hours in the cold to hear clinton speak. she finally took to the stage with running mate tim kaine just after 9:30. in the clouds there were lots of hillary clinton supporters but there were also some bernie sanders supporters who say clinton still needs to win their vote but as expected clinton took some time to bash her opponent on his refusal to release his tax returns and also called him to be unfit to be president. on the policy front clinton says as president she would make a push for manufacturing

and clean energy jobs universal pre-k and college affordability for the middle class. the reaction to her 30 minute speech was mixed. >> i thought the speech was good but i don't see -- i think she needs to do more policy. like i wanted to hear more about the things she wanted to talk about and what she was going to do for the country, the things -- she said the whole time it was pretty much just trash trump trash trump. but let's talk about policy. >> i thought it was fantastic. i feel like every time she speaks it gives me hope. >> i feel like she's trying to create a country that's inclusive of all people and really think about the people who are struggling, the people who aren't necessarily included in our every day lives. i think she has clear policies which i don't see with donald trump. >> and showing just how important pennsylvania is to the selection, tim kaine is already announced he'll be back in pennsylvania on wednesday with planned stops in the lehigh valley and bucks county. but for now we're live in

with the good news. right lauren. >> yes, natasha but don't those 80's feel like a distant memory. we were at 80 degrees just yesterday afternoon but today temperatures struggling on the backside of a very strong cold front. our high temperature in philadelphia only 56 degrees. running about eight to 10 degrees below average. definitely a by the fireplace day in the poconos, a high temperature in mount pocono only topped off at 45 degrees. so, we had the cool temperatures and then we had those very blustery winds gusting to 46 miles per hour today in a.c., 43 miles per hour top wind gusts in pottstown and close to 40 miles an hour today in drexel hill and right now still do have the breezy conditions, wind speeds up there around 15 miles per hour in philadelphia, winds at around 30 miles per hour out of the northwest in the poconos right now making it feel like 28 degrees. our current temperature in those higher elevations 39 degrees. down the shore we have fallen off into the 40's and we're currently at 50 degrees in philadelphia. but with this return to fall,

it might have you wanting to check out some of that foul fall foliage. starting to see the leaves turn over across delaware valley. up in the water gap poconos northeastern pennsylvania going to be beautiful the leaves starting to turn over and we're getting to peek in some areas in extreme northeastern pennsylvania and we'll have nice conditions as far as sky cover tomorrow. we'll talk about how high those temperatures will warm tomorrow in a little bit. >> lauren see you soon. philadelphia's night the light walk to benefit the leukemia and lymphoma society took place this evening. 6,000 participants joined together at the philadelphia art museum carrying lum 98ed lanterns to shine a light on blood cancer and also help to end the disease. white lanterns were carried by survivors, red for supporters, gold in memory of loved ones. also a huge whiffle ball tournament to help a little boy. line drive for luke, it's a place -- it took place today to benefit luke
