the winter coat hat and gloves as we head to the upcoming weekend. i'll let you know coming up. a friend is being held at a hero. a woman remains hospitalized after a fire in the port richmond. her dog may have actually saved her life. trang do picks up the story. >>reporter: it was before 4:30 a.m. in port richmond. annie daily woke up to the sound of glass breaking and his neighbor's dog barking. >> you have to do something. i can't sit here and wait for the fire department knowing that some something could be happening >> they tried to break down the door with no success. when firefighters arrived. everyone was stunned to see what was behind the door, they found her in the living room, the dog was on top of her. i guess tried to protect her.

cbs3. most residents have been allowed back into their home after a gas leak caused an evacuation. people live ping on the 900 block of salter street were forced out al but one apartment has been cleared at this point. no injuries were reported. investigators in southern california are still trying to figure out exactly why a tour bus slammed into an 18, we're here this morning, 13 people were killed threat of 31 injured. correspond chris martinez is on the scene in north palm springs. >> a crane was needed to separate a tour bus. >> in almost 35 years i've never been to a crash where there's been 13 confirmed fatal accidents. so it's tough. >> survivor told police molest of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the crash.

first responders used ladders to reach the victims because the editor was inaccessible. >> the trailer itself entered about 15 feet into the bus. so you can see that it was a substantial impact. bus was traveling significantly faster than the tractor-trailer that it struck from behind. >> reporter: the bus driver died while the truck driver was injured as were dozens of passengers >> most of the victims were unrestrained and therefore flown through the air and ended up sustaining facial trauma. >>reporter: the bus was heading west on i 10 from a casino near palm springs, police say 1996 bus was inspected earlier this year. >> no mechanical desean jacksons were noted. >> federal records show the bus company involved owned one bus and had one driver. a huge fire on the delaware

memorial bridge. the eastbound lanes were closed when the vehicle went up in flames, right now, only the left lane remains closed. a scare earlier today a at philadelphia international airport. caused confusion for at least one airline. according to an airport representative, two passengers walked on to an american airlines plane before boarding time. we're told these two passengers had tickets for their flight from philly to boston but gain unauthorized access by boarding the plane two hours early. out of a precaution, american airlines used a different plane for that flight. earlier today, two bodies were discovered inside a home on the 2700 a man and woman in their 50s were found by neighbor.

eyewitness here in the 6500 block of green way avenue in southwest philadelphia. police say a man was bitten in the face by a pitbull that he had found a few days earlier. a woman nearby tried to stab the dog which only made things worse. two officers arrived on scene. and they shot and killed the dog. man who was bitten was rushed to the hospital and there's no word yet on his condition. former pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane hopes to avoid jail time when a judge sentences her tomorrow. in august, the jury convicted kane of leaking grand jury documents and lying about it under oath. prosecutors are asking for jail time. kane faces 12 to 24 years behind bars. she's currently seeking probation so she can raise her children. more than two weeks inially election day, the presidential candidates are making a final push for votes. many americans are already cast ballots. we're going to take you on the campaign trail. dogs putting their best paws

after a day's delay animals' their owners strutting their stuff in south philly >> "eyewitness news" at the navy yard. the event helps to raise money for pause, a nonprofit that takes in homeless abandoned or unwanted animals in philadelphia. last year, nearly $120,000 was raised many people left today with a newly adopted pet as well. that's a great cause. they going to sweaters on. >> i like it >> they're listening to their forecast >> dogs need the sweatshirt, were he need them if you head into mid week dropping into the 30's for the first time. we have fall is back. today we were milder than yesterday after that blustery chilly start to the weekend today. pretty in his day for sunday. temperatures mild 57 right now as we get a live look at center city philadelphia. the component to our wind flow.

raised our high temperatures this afternoon about ten degrees over yesterday and again tomorrow back up into the 60's, seasonal high temperatures for us, chilly mornings as we head into mid week with a couple of mornings down in the 30's and we do have our next rain chance but not for several days, you can pack away the umbrella and most places but stormscan 3 showing us we do have rainfalls generated by an upper level disturbance to the north and west. with a little bit of a southerly's stretch. we're seeing shower activity. shower activity just scraping by mount pocono. could see some showers working into the lehigh valley over the next couple hours, dry conditions and good viewing conditions across much of the delaware valley overnight tonight for the meteor shower, ten to 25 meteors per hour. and it runs until november 7th. you still have time to check out and look for some of those, overnight partly cloudy

keeping up into the evening hours. cool-down is in store as we head to the upcoming work week, a dip in the jet stream is in store in tuesday and wednesday, allow some of that cooler canadian air to spill in. that will drive our high temperatures down and our low temperatures down. for tomorrow, mostly sunny and breezy at the shore, high temperature 65. not bad day in the poconos partly sunny breezy way high temperature at 50. we'll climb generally into the 60's across much of the area tomorrow, 60 in reading, we'll top at 60 in trenton and low to mid 60's at the shore, cooler air does arrive on tuesday, 57 degrees still a bit of a breeze. wednesday morning, there is our coldest start of the season in the city, 38 degrees. suburbs, you know, you'll be cooler than that, 55 by wednesday afternoon, our next chance of rain arrives late day on thursday, pretty good bet for much needed rainfall thursday before we clear out again on
