day, little breezy, seasonable, feels like october. so it is very, very much what you would expect. although, we have been very, very spoiled as of late, temperatures into the eight's, so, yes, those days are gone guys. you will be need to go break out the heavier layers again. i know we've been flipping outward robes like crazy lately, but the warmth, exceptional warmth, going by the wayside. you can see we had couple of showers, the last couple of hours, all since fizzled away. really in the clear at this point. there are still some clouds. even hint of left over fog up at pleasant valley middle and high schools here, up at broads head ville, so far north the spot where we did end up with couple of showers, regardless, now seen them fizzle as we showed you evidence on storm scan3, temperatures off to warm start in ac and wildwood. in fact, low 60s currently, but around the entire region generally it is just a little milder than average. as we go throughout the day here, temperatures level off. come lunchtime for the kids will walk out on to the playground here with full

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live at the montgomery county courthouse in norristown where will learn her fate in a few hours, jan? >> rahel, jim, the sentence for former pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane could range anywhere from probation to a maximum sentence of 12 to 24 years in prison. now, kane and her attorneys are certainly hoping for leniency, and they've ask the judged for as much. take a look at the video. kathleen kane is hoping the judge will grant her probation or house arrest, so she can be at home to raise her two

teenage sons. kane argues the loss of her career, her law license, her reputation, are enough. prosecutor call her crimes aggregious, asking for jail time. comes after cane convicted in a summerall nine counts of perjury and obstruction of justice charges. during the pile prosecution told story of attorney general's fall from grace. at first attorney general kane enjoyed mostly positive press, as she supported gay marriage, and ramp up the child preditor unit. that soon changed. top deputies, season prosecutors start today leave. during her trial, prosecutors laid out a calculated team tan concocted. documents to a rotator make a rival prosecutor look bad. then tried to frame someone else for the leak, kathleen kane did not testify at her august trial. she will be back in court today, her sentencing start here, at the montgomery county courthouse right around 10:00. of course we will be here to cover it all. for now live in norristown, jan carabeo, cbs-3,

he and mcginty will face-off tonight at temple university performing arts center, the latest polls show senate race is at statistical dead heat. we are little more than 14 days until voters have the last word. of course, stay with "eyewitness news" as we follow the candidates through evening election day. coverage continues on line any time at cbsphilly.com. well, teenager in stable condition after being shot in the face in southwest philly. police tell us, the 17 year old boy was shot in broad daylight. it happened yesterday, afternoon, around the 7500 block of elmwood street. no arrests have been made in the shooting. police are also trying to figure out how two people died in a south philadelphia home. investigators tell us, a neighbor found the man and woman both in their 50's, yesterday in the 2700 block of 11th street. they believe both died inside the home, no details on a cause of death. >> and an unusual flight delay out of philadelphia international airport after two passengers got on their plane very early.

fran chest co-and his daughter board dollars flight to boston, through unlock gate door before the scheduled departure sunday morning. now, philadelphia international airport says both passengers did have tickets for the flight. but american airlines says they boards dollars two hours early. >> it was clear that know were very confused. and did not speak english. >> someone went through the door. they just followed the person? >> yes. >> was it unlocked? >> no, it was open. >> american airlines used another plane to fly to boston. the air carrier says the two passengers cleared security test points, does not consider this a security breach. well, the eagles are back in the win column after knocking off the nfl's last undefeated team, the minnesota vikings. for the second straight week, eagles scored a touchdown on a kick return, josh huff took off for 98-yard touchdown run in the first quarter but the birds defense was the star of the game. they sacked former eagle sam bradford six times and forced three turnovers. while it wasn't always pretty carson wentz said the birds did what they had to do.

again, going to be contends withing winds. so we look ahead to the future wind gust, even by noontime, still talking gusts that peak as high as the 20's, kind of going to be the story everywhere. through the rest of the day, i wouldn't be shock to see few 30 agree wind gusts out of this, as well, generally talking winds, sustained, as high as 15 to 20 miles per hour, and there you have it. there is the 31 degrees mile per hour gust that comes in at least on the computer data through the overnight. now as far as the rest of the day goes, yes, you have the breeze. it is nice day. mostly sunny, breezy, but we hit seasonable 64 degrees out of t later tonight dropping down to the low 40's, we look forward in the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, we are talking mid 50's, tuesday, wednesday, as well as thursday, and then generally to me right now looks like p.m. hours of thursday when we see the next rounds of rain. it clears out by friday. we rebound ever so slightly, and then another cold front sends us back in the 50's for sunday. >> look at the mornings, katie, looking chilly in some of those days, thank you, good morning, happy monday. we are kicking off brand new week together.

eagles fans fired up this morning, live at wip studios getting their reaction, and hearing from angelo cataldi coming up in a bit. first, see what the weather is doing with katy? >> guys, typical late october day for us. still bit of breeze to contend with through the overnight. in fact, even had couple of showers rolling through all courtesy of relatively moisture starved front at boundary. the one that will knock the temperatures back to below average again. so we had the opportunity to warm up, back to typical territory yesterday. that will be the same story today. but even as you look at storm scan right now, tri-state sweep, few speckles evergreen, left over moisture, in other words, of the showers, that rolled through. and you can see them fizzling within the last loop. left with clouds, sometimes the radar talking the sweep we just showed you, can be deceiving, yes, still moisture to work with. but we dried out. officially. temperatures in the meantime are generally at least through the central sliver of our region in the 50's, go far enough north, you have the 40's, where some of the cool air is beginning to nudge n even milder if you go to the shore. this time of year, you start

voters have the last words in campaign 2016. donald trump keeps his focus on florida through tomorrow. despite polls favoring hillary clinton, trump says polls showing him struggling among women are very inaccurate. he even said he believes he's doing better among female voters than with male voters. clinton will hold a rally in new hampshire today. yesterday, her attention shifted to campaign for candidates in the senate and house in north carolina. well, imagine being a college student and having miley cyrus knock on your door? the surprise singer surprised student at george mason university in fairfax virginia by campaigning for hillary clinton. cyrus urged student to go out and vote for clinton and to make sure that they were registered. >> quite the surprise. well the two candidate for the u.s. senate in pennsylvania are debating tonight in philadelphia. incumbent republican pat toomey and democratic challenger katie mcginty will go face-to-face at temple university performing arts center. this is their second and final debate. and the latest pole shows the senate race is at statistical

dead heat. and former pennsylvania attorney general, pat keen lone, will learn today if she is going to prison. in august, jury convicted kane of leaking grand jury documents, and lying about it under oath. kane is asking for probation or house arrest, so she can raise her two teenage sons. prosecutors meantime are asking for jail time. kane faces 12 to 24 years behind brings on. horrible story out of southern california, investigators are trying to figure out what caused a deadly tour bus accident. police say a semi truck and a tour bus collided on the highway near palm springs early sunday morning. killing 13 people, and injuring 31 other. rescuers had to use a crane to separate the trailer from the bus. one officer describes this as the worse crash he's ever seen. >> in almost 35 years, i've never been to a crash where there has been 13 confirmed fatal accidents. so it is tough. >> the bus driver was killed, the truck driver was injured. but is expected to be okay. back in our area, a huge fire on the delaware memorial

watching, thank you. on the cbs-3 health watch, about 3500 babies die every year from sleep related deaths. now the american academy of pediatrics is issuing new recommendations to decrease chances of sudden infant death syndrome. they say infants should share their parent bedroom for at least the first six month of life and identify deally for the first year. >> studies done, looking at the reduction in risk. really were done throughout the first year of life. and we know that reductions can be as much as 50%. >> and, doctors also say, breast feed reduce the risk of silds, and parent should place babies on their backs to sleep, on firm mattress, and in a crib or bassinet. also taking a look inside the medicine cabinet this morning. just how long can you keep that over the counter cold medicine? jim is here with doctor rob for this week's what's up doc segment. >> that's right, rahel. from out-dated prescriptions, to unfished wished anti doctor hob here when it is time to toss the five items everyone should have on hand at home.

getting into the cold and flu season, cough drops, things like that, cough syrup. do i need to look at expiration date? >> you real dow. the else prayings date ensures if you use the medication by that time it is safe, it is effective. that's when it is in it original packaging. once you take out it may inactivate t safest thing to do, passed the expiration date, talk to the pharmacist, generally you want to use it before then then toss it afterward. >> with a about antibiotic a lot of people will have extra pill or two left over, or something. what should you do with the end of whatever the cold or whatever you were dealing with? >> well, it is really important if you are given a pre strip sean to take it all, that you are supposed to take, don't have any extra, talk to your doctor. you don't want to take it all the sudden later on. now the problem is sometimes we get a call hey dock i took my wife or husband's and i by the i can is that correct okay? no. because sometimes people take their own medication prescriptions from someone else, it can make your condition worse, it may be the wrong medication for you, or

you may be allergic to it, so don't take anyone else's medication. >> don't self medicate on your own. now, good time of year probably to clean out your medicine cabinet. what should people do with old prescriptions and drugs? >> well, there are several things. sometimes police stations and pharmacies have medication take back programs, especially good for pain relievers, narcotics, medications, but if not, have them home, don't flush them down the sing. best thing to do put it in the garbage, and dispose properly. so here we have some old pills. okay? so you want to take it out. you want to put it in a sealed plastic bag. then you want to add just little bit of water to it like that. because then it will start to degrade and in water. then either coffee grounds, or cat litter. you put that in. it will mix it. continue activates the medication. it makes it safe to dispose of, then you just put it in your garbage. >> all right. >> that's it. never flush it down the toilet. and never, you know, down the sing. this is the best and safest way to do it if you don't get

to the police department or pharmacies. >> talk about best practices, where should you place prescription drugs? the medicine cabinet. >> probably the worse place to put medication. the reason being is because the heat, and humidity, sometimes lights, can degrade or inactivate the medication the put they will in cool dry place, perhaps in a drawer, in your bedroom, or in a locked box, maybe in a cool closet. always keeping away from kids, but medicine cabinets are the worst places for medications. the only reason you want to use medicine cabinets for safety, gauze type things. >> the five things i need to have in the medicine cabinet? >> bandages, tweezer, if you get splinter stuff like that, this is a thermometer, works real well. >> i was wondered what that was. >> just put it on your forehead, works great, don't have to use any type of probe. a seed minute fin for pain, then first aid ointment. those are the top five to put in your medicine cabinet. if you are middle age or older or have heart disease may want to keep aspirin in there. >> i have those five plus the
