the roads are looking good. i sat up here what 45 minute ago and i said oh, not one accident on the highway. first thing katie said, meisha! within that second, jinxed it. so we do have an accident, still out there, and it is starting to pose some problems for you right now. >> i'm not going to have you pick my lottery numbers. >> what? what? >> exactly. >> well, we are looking ahead to nice bright sunny day out there. definitely going to be breezy in the wake of yesterday's cold front. you tends to find, that but at least the rain is out of here. and we are done with any kind of freezing rain issues, thank goodness, but, yes, storm scan nice and quiet at this point. do expect that eventually, though, even already, that winds is going to be picking up, you'll notice it, you don't need the umbrella, but do you need to holds onto your hats going out the door here this morning, i would stress heavier layer, too, winter coats starting to become more regular in our rotation, right? although by this weekend you won't need it. you want to check out the weekends forecast.

storm scan nice and quiet. seeing skies clear out nicely, temperatures currently not terrible. just not going to see a lot of the movement on the thermometer. we are at a one at the airport, but we only evening out high of 57 or so. later on today. not terrible even mount mount pocono, still low four's there. at ooh apiece both mt. holly and palmyra. as the eyewitness day planner, see the sewn icon throughout the day, but again evening out couple every additional degrees before it is said and done, with the blustery winds, primarily out of the northwest today, also means, it will feel little cooler any time that winds does blow, meisha. >> good to see the sun, how much, thanks so much, katie. good morning, everyone, we made it, it is friday, roads are looking good right now. looking just as they should. inched state 95 southbound before girard. what you are looking at here, keeping my eyes on this area all morning long, because we know it is one of the first to heat up, and as you can see, just cracking into the 5:00 hour, almost is. this is one area that's just slowly starting to heat up. but it is still looking good. new jersey same story here. forty-two freeway northbound

creek road. take this to 295. what you are working with, looking good, you guys, just as it should specially on a friday morning, look little like we typically would, monday through thursday, first accident of the morning, a.c. expressway eastbound near route 42 freeway, right lane blocked, you can see this still photo here, all of the bikes, in conjunction with this accident, doesn't mean they're all involved with the accident per say, but a lot of people out there, so if anything else probably going to get some gaper delay. construction 295 northbound between 42 and 168. one, two lanes blocked until around 8:00 a.m. so it will last through predominantly our entire morning rush hour. jim, jan, back to you. >> thank you, developing right now, a investigation into a police-involved shooting overnight. >> officers opened fire on a knife wielding man in philadelphia's juniata section. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch picks up the story live now from police headquarters this morning. justin? >> reporter: jan, jim, good morning, the man who was shot is in stable condition at the hospital. meantime, as internal affairs

and east detective look into this shooting, the officers are on administrative duty per department political i this all begins on a house, at a house rather, 3800 block of else on, just after 10:30 last night, a man in his 50's reported as suicidal, armed, possibly intoxicated. two officers from the 24th district responds dollars and met by member of that man's family, who told them he was inside that house with a knife. apparently trying to harm himself. the two officers went in, and saw him with a large knife. police say he was asked to drop it several times but refused, instead, press that knife into his chest. and that's when officials say one officer tried to fire a taser to stop him, and did so. police say the man ripped out the taser prongs, and then the officers began to retreat. backing out of that house, and that officer then reloaded and refired that taser, officials say the armed man then came

face-to-face with those officers, on the outside steps. and, fearing for their safety, police say, both opened fire, striking that man in his torso. the investigation is still early, but police say, it appears the officers relied on their training. >> very serious, and, again, we do a number of different training exercises, so to speak, and try and prepare officers for these type of situations. but you really can't prepare or know every situation. because they're all different in time. >> now, back live, police say the taze serra preferred option to using their service weapon, but responses to tasers can vary, by person to person. again, that man, who was shot, who has not been identified, is recovering at temple hospital. he's in stable condition at last check. jan, jim, back into you. >> thank you so much, justin. >> close call for vice presidential candidate, mike pence. this is a look at his campaign plane, that skidded right off the runway at new york

leguardia airport last night. fortunately, no one was injured, but i'm sure a lot of nerves were rattled. >> now, governor pence will be back on the campaign trail today with plans to be in bensalem later this afternoon. >> now, reporter brook silva bragga is live at leguardia airport with more on that close call. brooke, those passengers certainly did have some frightening moments last night. >> there were some tough moment, jim, jan. the plane isn't here, moved just moments ago, we watched through the night, as crews prepared to mover the plane, using bulldozers, and cranes, and then just about 30 minutes ago, it was towed away back on the runway, and out of site. now, the focus moves to investigators from the ntsb and faa. we will try and figure out why this happened. >> this morning the boeing 737 was moved back on the to the leguardia airport it skidded off last night, not far from major new york city highway. >> it was relatively close to

the grand central it, would have been hundreds of feet away, if i had to guess. >> we have similar scene at the airport. getting help for you. >> port authority officials say the aircraft over shot the runway after a hard landing in heavy rain. >> i looked out. i saw this trump-pence plane making a noise, screaching, came to a stop right here. >> allen key has been following governor pence on the campaign trail for cbs news and was on the plane at the time. >> we hit the grounds, big thump, followed by series of bumps, then you could smell rubber in the cabin. >> everyone on board including governor pence, his family, more than 30 other, were unharmed. authorities say the ends of the runway slowed it down and may have saved lives. >> approximately 80 rest err beds destroyed, yet they served their purpose tonight. >> trump called his runningmate from the state of ohio. >> i just spoke to our future vice president, and he's okay.

>> democratic nominee hillary clinton tweeted: glad to hear mike pence, his staff, secret service and the crew are all safe. governor pence also took to social media, to thank first responders. >> after a cancelling event here in new york, last night, pence is expected to keep his schedule today, which includes, both that event you mentioned in pennsylvania, and one in north carolina jim, jan? >> scary swearing there, brooke. what happens to this plane now? what's next? >> reporter: well, i just spoke to a representative from the trump-pence campaign who told me they expect the plane to be here at leg guards ya for that investigation, just a few more days, but believe it will be back in the air for the campaign before election day. >> great, thanks so much, brooke. meanwhile, inspectors in charlotte, north carolina are going over plane diverted there from philadelphia last night because of electrical odor inside the plane. >> yes, take a look at this, this is file of charlotte douglas international airport. southwest flight number 3077 landed there safely last night. the crew detected the smell,

but there was no visible smoke or fire. the plane was headed to tampa, florida, and passengers got thereon another southwest flight. >> in other news this morning, police are searching for suspect in a brazen smash and grab robbery, inside local mall. now, customers thought they heard gunshots yesterday, in the macy's on cottman avenue and the boulevard, but it was real a hammer shattering the glass from a display case. as three men stole 14 watches valued at $16,000, right in broad daylight. police say they have some leads, after one of the thieves left something behind. >> while running out of the building, one of the perpetrators drops an empty bag, which was recovered by police. these three perpetrators end area silver mercedes, possibly a 350. >> now, police have linked this car and license plate to two additional robberies recent lip. authority believe they may be linked to the boyds robbery earlier this week. well, pipeline protests in north dakota are getting more

>> we talk about scams on the news there is morning, new one for you. scammers looking to cash in on cheating spouses. now, a lot of people in our area have received this letter in the mail. it is personally addressed, basically, saying, you've been busted for cheating. it is a blackmail scheme warning if you don't pay up, they'll tell your spouse. now, here is a closer look at the letter. it says, let's cut to the

chase. i know you cheated on your wife, more importantly, i have evidence of the infidelity. i'll give two options. either ignore this letter or pay me $2,000. it goes on to say they'll show evidence of your cheating if you fail to pay. now, the letter also includes instructions on how to transfer the money, as bit coin, which is an on line currency, our executive producer received this letter address today him, i'm sure his wife shannon is like what's going on here there is looks to be very widespread in our area, though we've heard from people all over the area from the northeast philly to the main line. now, lower merion police issued warning telling people not to send money tune shred the letter and throw it away. you. >> always have to be careful these days. >> not only the scam, but i'll tell you probably few guys that opened up the thing and saw this and went oh, oh! >> for the cheaters maybe it is a little karma? >> i'm telling you, just watch out. >> but shannon, you're fine. steve's a good guy. we've been watching him. >> with kids. >> yes. >> all right, switching gears

now, new development surrounding a national anthem controversy at wednesday night's 76ers game. "eyewitness news" has learned that the team players had meeting thursday, and may takings in the wake of the organization's decision to cancel the national anthem performance by its singer, you see right there, wearing a we matter jersey. r&b artist seven streeter was supposed to sing the anthem, but was pulled at the very last minute. entertainment torn simon rosen believes that this shirt may have been misinterpreted. >> that type of shirt can be a met a for for the lack of relationship between perhaps sixers hierarchy, and the people in philadelphia. >> now, when seven played the 76ers dance team member saying the -- sang the anthem, sources tell cbs-3 that the seven streeter sign a contract saying she would not make any political statements at the game. well, in other news this morning, there are now more than 400 people under arrest, in protests over the so-called

dakota access pipeline in north dakota. 117 people arrested yesterday alone, officials say the number will likely rise. officials say demonstrators lit fires, through molotov cocktails, demonstrators claim the 1100-mile oil pipeline from north dakota to illinois violate native american sacred land. >> so walked out this morning, i was like coat, no coat, rain, it was very nice, it was pleasant, kate. >> i not too bad. little bit after breeze out there right now. that's going to continue to pick up with time in the wake of the colds front passage, but yes, at least things are dry. do not need the umbrella at this point. we are going to see full sunshine. and i expect we will end up with really beautiful sunrise, as well. as a lot of times when you see systems pulling away, or even coming into the region, a lot of times just get some of the prettiest sunrises, sunsets, as a result. but things are nice and clear at this point. you can see, little lake enhancement that's been coming in here in the form of some cloud cover, few left over

flurries, even sprinkles, most of that, though, has since fizzled, even as it is trying to reach us. here is the storm in it entirety, nice rotation with this, cold front that crossed through, it is well out to sea at this point. so, we're done with it, we can wipe our hands clean of the system. just expect the winds in its wake. meanwhile, as we look ahead to the weekends, mild is the word to describe it here. because the jet stream going to be lifting north, in the wake of the cold front, that just came in, so only get one additional cool day before the temperatures substancially climb above their average. we are talking 70s, both weekends days right now, and there has been list discrepancy where we think it will land because of the way the cold front is scheduled to cross crew here, but looks like mild weekend regardless. from palmyra cove nature park overlooking off in the distance the betsy ross bridge, center city skyline, still looks little cloudy but the clouds really starting to dissipate. and our winds flow here, anyway, still out of the southwest, going to turn more northwest for everyone as the day goes on, 48 degrees

though. even out at that more remote location, it is not bad. we look at the current winds speeds everywhere else, yes, talking, again, more the northwest winds flow, but at the moment from say ten to 15 miles per hour max. few outline ers, the weather is lower or hire on that winds vein, but regardless as the day goes on, winds is future of the forecast, that you will in the for the rest of the day. >> mostly sunny skies otherwise, so just nice fall day. a blustery one at. that will later tonight drop down to brisk and chilly 42 degrees, and very quickly, got to give you your halloween planner here. you are going out with halloween parades, trick-or-treat plans, and it looks good. we expect sunshine all day. so, definitely, a cool day by comparison to this 70-74 degrees weekends we have coming up here, but cold front bridges late day shower sunday. that's why we see those temps drop again, meisha. >> katie, gorgeous weekend on tap. thank you so much for that. and looking outside, the schuylkill, taillights moving in the eastbound direction, approaching gulph mills, guys. what you are looking at
