open fire. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch picks up the story now live from police headquarters, good morning, justin. >> jan, jim, good morning, that man shot is recovering from wounds to his torso, meantime, internal affairs and east detective are looking into this shooting, and the circumstances. let's take you now to the event happening overnight. we now know police got to a call to juniata home close to 10:30 last night. two officers from the 24th district pulled up to that house on the 3800 block of elsenor, inside man in his 50's reported suicide at, possibly intoxicated, those two officers went in and saw him sitting in the kitchen with a large knife. police say he was asked to drop it, but refused. he then repeatedly expressed the knife into his chest, we are told, and that's when officials say one officers fired a taser. it did little police say because he ripped up that taser, and its prongs. then, the officers began to retreat, that officer then re loaded and refired that taser,

and soon that armed man, and those officers, came face-to-face. at some point in time, large knife, makes his way toward the officers, at that point the officers discharged weapon, striking the male, in the torso area of the body. >> now, no word yet on how many times that man was shot, again, we do know he's recovering at temple hospital. he's in stable condition. he's not yet been identified. jan, jim, back into you. >> justin, thank you. >> meanwhile in other news this morning, rattled nerves but no injuries after the plane caring vice presidential candidate, mike pence, slides right off the runway at new york's leg guards ya airport. nstb now investigating. >> pence will be back on the trail today with plans to be in bensalem later this afternoon. >> become silva brag a at leguardia with more on this close call, good morning, brooke. >> good morning, jim, jan. bulldoze remembers work to go

but a frightening time for passengers on plane out of philadelphia last night. this is file video of the charlotte-douse lag international airport in north carolina where last night southwest flight 3077 was diverted. after the crew detect add electrical odor or board there. was no visible fire or smoke. the plane landed safely, and experts are now examining the plane. >> well, police are searching for the suspect in a brazen smash and grab robbery inside local mall. customers thought they heard gunshots yesterday in the macy's on cottman avenue and the boulevard, but really hammer shattering the glass from display case. this, as three men stole 14 watches, valued at $16,000, and this all happened in broad daylight. but they mistakenly left something behind. >> while running out of the building one of the person trait ers drops an empty bag. which was recovered by police. these three perpetrators then end area silver mercedes, possibly a 350. >> now, police have linked

that car and license plate to two additional robberies. now, one of those happened earlier tuesday morning. this is surveillance video as the men backed an s.u.v. into boyds in center city. the men made off with thousands of dollars in high end clothing, and now the license plates from the boyds and macy's robbery differ by one digit. leading police to believe the witness at boyds theft misread that plate. police also believe the same car could have been used in a third robbery, that one, outside of the city. >> new this morning, a warning about a new scam hitting our area. con artists looking for cash, looking to cash in on cheating spouses. it is in the form of a personally addressed letter saying they have evidence that you cheated on your wife. and if you don't pay up, they'll tell your spouse. our executive producer received this letter, and we did some digging and found out the scam looks to be widespread. now the letter reads in part: let's cut to the chase. i know you cheated on your wife, more importantly, i have evidence of the infidelity.

weather where the temperatures at the moment any which from the watchers upper mid 40's, most locations, not really seeing any major outline err so slew of observations coming in from the watches this morning, look at just the lows reported. bottom out at 44 hatboro, came in from kyle, phil in philly chestnut hill section 48 agrees where he bottomed out, jason in middletown, dolores in newark, both checking in mid to upper 50s, pete nerve lawrenceville, 47, the list goes on, really the only outline err i'm finds something this one, megan in richboro at 37 degrees this morning. so for the most part, it is a consistent slew of observations from the watchers, now, when we talk about what's average, a lot of times, you don't really see average unfold in transition month, like october, but, on this particular day, of the year, took all of the observations since records began, average high ends up at 63 degrees, by november 28th, as we push to the end of the month, 51. and then december 28th, pushing to the new year, it is normally only 42 degrees.

so, we are actually a little cooler than average, anyway this morning. but, we are eventually going to be rebounding to 57 at best here. later on today. outside to pleasant valley middle and high school here. see the clouds are still out, there but they're spinning with time, light of day popping over the horizon, nice bright sunny day in the wake of this mess. that brought all of the rain last night, but as we clear things out, the winds picks up. in the wake of the colds front. so expect somewhat of blustery finish to the week. nice warming trends, look at this, low and mid 70s saturday, sunday, there is new cold front though scheduled to cross late in the day sunday, a blip on the radar, but allow for shower. that does not knock us back to 60 at best on halloween itself. but the sun will shine, looks like nice crisp fall day, meisha. >> sure does. all right, katie, no one complaining about this forecast. but what we could be complaining about, guys, there is video every accident west philly involving a car and septa vehicle. route ten trolley shuttle bussing right now, two people, because of this accident, have been transported to the

hospital, i back out of the way, so you can see this, see at the bottom of your screen, 43rd street, at lancaster avenue, you guys, again, in west philly. so just heads up on that. you might want to give yourself couple of extra minutes in and around this area, there are a loft people outside their vehicles, kinds of walking around, looking at the damage, anywhere around there. plus, we have this accident. that's still out there, you guys, a.c. expressway eastbound near had two freeway, right lane still blocked. and we have an abandoned vehicle might start to slow us down as well. this is westbound, schuylkill, at the boulevard, you can see it pulled all the way out to the side. because it is so dark out, there as you're whipping around, that can really pose some problems for us. heads up it is there. and on the other side, when we look in the eastbound direction, before, when the camera shot was little pushed over, we can see how busy it was, looking very busy over, there as well. so overall guys it is shaping up to be pretty busy friday morning. indeed. the vine starting to slow down little bit of the boulevard southbound, looking at that, traveling a little bit less than 55 miles per hour now. and once you jump on to the
