now in center city, live look and warm. that sunshine will go to work. before the sun came up we had temperatures in the lower 60's. it will not take a whole lot of sunshine. warming up to 70. southwest wind at 8 miles an hour and temperature change, compared to 24 hours ago, anywhere from 19 to 30 degrees, warmer. so big time difference there. yesterday we were scraping frost. different store think morning. fifty-seven in the lehigh valley. sixty-one in mount pocono. near 60 in the suburbs, willow grove checks in the lower 60's. fifty-nine in palmyra, new jersey. we have cloud free skies, south and east of philadelphia, thicker cloud cover up toward lehigh valley and poconos. the eventually the rain will arrive, this afternoon for poconos and then south and east. we will be dry next self hours. scattered showers today, habena thunderstorm. best chance to see rain will be 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. tenth of an inch to a quarter inch. before that we are on your way up to mid 70's.

near 60 in the poconos. if you like it cool we will talk about that halloween forecast in a few minutes. >> thanks, see you soon, thanks. buildings have collapsed after another forceful earthquake in central and southern italy. the quake was a preliminary magnitude of 6.6, woke people out of bed and sent nuns running from the church as clock tower appeared to crumble. there are reports have of injuries but no immediate reports of anyone being killed. italy has been struggling to recover from an august quake that left almost 300 people dead. well, back here at home today septa and transit workers union are set to resume discussions as they try to prevent a strike on tuesday. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live from septa headquarters in center city and cherri, timing of this potential strike could mean major issues for riders, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is no the just an issue for commuters but it is an issue for voters as many folks use public transportation to get to the poles, so the deadline, of course, it is

monday at midnight which would be the strike would start on tuesday, one week from election day and it could send many people scrambling. septa officials spent several hours saturday negotiating the transportation workers union local 234 leadership. those sessions ended late last night without a resolution. the city, the school district and a number of major employers are now working on contingency plans for workers because if the parties are unable to reach an agreement by midnight on monday, as of 12:01 tuesday, anyone using bus routes, the market frankford line, the broad street line or trolleys will to have find another mode of transportation. the big sticking points for the 5700 septa workers are health and pension benefits. the line in the sand has been drawn and the signs are prepared for the picket lines. while many commuters are sympathetic with the workers, they are growing frustration is clear. >> it is important.

took second and pronounced dead there. third person was also found beaten, no arrests have been made. just into our news room a man is dead after he was found shot in the neck. advertise coverry was made just before 6:00 this morning in the 3400 block of old york road. block away from temple hospital. man was found inside a car, no word what led to the shooting or of a possible suspect. a man is in the hospital have after being shot in the stomach, this happened in the 5500 block of rising sun avenue. first responders say that the three three-year old man was taken to einstein medical center in critical condition. so far no arrests and no word what led up to the shooting. in campaign 2016 hillary clinton continues her presidential campaign in florida today while donald trump travels to the southwest nevada, colorado, new mexico. fbi's reopened criminal investigation continues to dominate the campaign. brooks silva-braga has more now. >> ♪ >> reporter: hillary clinton's campaign called fbi director

allegedly sped from a traffic stop, during the struggle the officers shot the driver in the lower body, and is not seriously wounded. the officer was not hurt. authorities in bucks county of charged three teenagers in the fatal shooting of a former penn ridge high school football player, investigators say lewis was gun down during a robbery at colt on memorial park in perkasie. shooting happened around 12:30. lewis was 2016 pen ridge graduate. well, opening week for philadelphia 76ers has been overshadowed by national anthem controversy. toxicology reports are out and miami marlins pitcher jose fernandes had cocaine and alcohol in his system before his boat crash last month. the medical examiner list the official cause of death as a boat crash. star pitcher and two friend were killed september 25th after their private boat hit a jetty. they have been found thousands of feet the away. piece of the engine was found 3,000 feet away, another turned up 1500 feet away. investigators determined that the fire on the runway was caused by engine failure, although there is no word on what caused the engine to

good morning. it is sunday october 30th, i'm rahel sol hon. lets get out to justin drabick on the sky deck with eyewitness weather. justin, feeling nice and warm. hopefully people at home like that but if they don't this week has a little bit of everything. >> especially starting tomorrow we will feel a big difference in the temperatures but not feeling like late october today, more like mid to late september as temperatures running 15 degrees above average putting us in the mid 70's, upper 70's, seeing sun and they had sun now it will not take much, already to 70 degrees. we are in the 50's and 60's and that is zero to 30 degrees warmer then this time yesterday. if you were outside you were in the 30's and there was frost around 61 at the airport. fifty-seven in allentown. mid 60's in wildwood. there is not much drop off in the suburbs at this hour. fifty-nine in pottstown. mid 50's in quakertown.

>> reporter: good morning, rahel, yes, transportation workers union, they are disputing modified contracts which they say has a negative impact on things like employee wages. also, benefits, pensions, holiday work as well as time between shifts and they say, that if they are unable to reach an agreement with septa the 5700 unionized workers are prepared to walk off the job tuesday morning. septa officials spent hours negotiating with transportation workers local union leaders saturday but called it a night around 10:00 . those sessions will resume today but you if there is no agreement by midnight monday the only public transportation, will be, regional rail to get in and around philadelphia. this will force tens of thousands toss find other modes of the transportation, like uber and lyft which could hurt those with lower income and leave many others scrambling. to prevent chaos septa has already created a contingency

thousands of rowers are on the the schuylkill river this weekend taking part in the teams battling in one of the largest regattas. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh tells us what this makes this competition so special. >> reporter: as they lift their boats, and dropped their ors to the the water, thousands gathered in philadelphia on a chilly sat the day morning forehead of the schuylkill regatta, annual event held since 1971. >> a lot of times schuylkill one of the best of the year, premiere rowing event in the fall. >> reporter: regatta is one of the largest in the country with 8,500 competitors for more than two dozen states. >> it is really exciting to have so many crew from his so many places, so it is like that crew is here, pennsylvania schools, i saw virginia. >> reporter: abby horwitz joined last year and said that there is a lot of training involved. >> we get up at 5:30 and leave by six, and spend time on the water every morning before class even starts.

face the nation will be coming your way later on this morning at 10:30 here on cbs-3. joining with us a preview live from washington is moderator and cbs news political director john dickerson. john, it is the home stretch, good morning. >> yes, it is the home stretch but there is lots of hurdles being thrown in the way. one is confusion over fbi's announcement on friday that they are opening up or looking again into the e-mail server question with hillary clinton. new batch of e-mails have been found but there is, we will straighten out what exactly we know about those e-mails and what the fbi knows, and what it could mean for the

campaign. we will spend sometime to go that and getting that straight. then we will have our conversation with joe biden. we talked to him on thursday before this news broke but clinton e-mail server and clinton foundation were on our mind. we talk to him about that. we have talk about premium increases in obama care and donald trump and his views on foreign policy. plus joe biden's vision for the future after so many years in public life. we will sit down this sunday with indiana governor mike pence to talk about the latest news in the e-mail investigation. also the state of the race, donald trump's claims on the campaign trail and how they see things going in the the final stretch. then from the other side we will talk to clinton campaign strategies joel benonson how does he see this fbi news, sit a big problem, how does clinton respond? what do voters think. what does it do to the shape of the race tightening. we will look at our cbs battle ground tracker which has a look at those important battle ground states that will determine the election.

well come back. you will like today. we have highs well in the 70's over most locations, across the area. big difference for halloween. we will bring back temperatures where they should this be time of the year but even this morning, pretty mild when you step outside at least compared to yesterday morning. yesterday was in the 30's in a lot of spots, close to freezing.

now 60 degrees across backwards from our weather watchers. we will go up to berks county where helen davis is at 60 degrees in the sunshine. she's looking forward to this nice late fall day, and, to the south we will go to chester county, fran out of nottingham has 63 degrees under partly sunny skies at this hour. similar numbers in new jersey, as well as lets go over to medford where andrew has got 58 degrees under mostly sunny skies. some nice sunrise pictures coming in, decent sunshine already, outside this morning, there is a zero there from phil chapline in philadelphia nice clear skies with high cloud mixed in from time to time in chesterfield, new jersey. pretty much cloud free skies, occurring, with calm wind, and that picture was taken. we will go to south jersey, peter plantmeant has got sunshine and fall colors showing up on the trees. getting close to peak for fall color south and east of the city. it will happen over next few days. live look at ocean city, you know it will be a decent beach

day. we have sunny skies today, temperatures should even break in the low to mid 70's along the coast with the west wind today and rain should hold off until nighttime hours for the coastal new jersey region. so, for the most of the day we are looking pretty good. it is south and east of the city. temperatures this week up and down. that is the trend. it has been like that over the past few days or so, so that is pattern we're in late october, november, it happens, friday we will have temperatures in the 50's for a high. yesterday close to 7o today well in the 70's, we should be in the lower 60's this time of the year. tomorrow back in the 50's we will go and then we have warming up again starting tuesday, we will sees another return to 70's, later on this week. we will show thaw in the seven day forecast. reason is we have a strong cold front, out ahead, nice and wam temperatures 60's to the mid 70's but that front clears us later tonight, bringing some showers witt and then cooler air spilled back in from can inadequacies, temperatures will make a return below average tomorrow. is there the showers right now, western new york state in the great lakes, they will

take sometime to get in here, just some cloud and mixture with some sunshine this morning. the cloud thicken up this afternoon. the showers will start to move from the northwest and south east. so it is really late in the the day we will see best chance for some rain here in philadelphia we're getting close to peak fall will color around philadelphia, areas to the south and delaware and new jersey. already past peak, in the poconos, that is right on schedule. we are at peak from lehigh valley and northwestern suburbs. so through the day-to-day, showers, holding off through at least noon time for the poconos and then they will start to move southward six or 7:00 o'clock around the city and then showers move into south jersey and delaware for evening hours, by 11:00 o'clock they are off shore. we are clearing skies out, high pressure builds back in. locks news another dry weather pattern for most of the upcoming workweek. cool start to the week. today though different story. maybe upper 70's if the cloud hold off long enough, tonight it will get cool. heavier coat weather tomorrow morning. thirty's to 40's for temperatures early on monday morning and then we will struggle to make it back in

the mid to upper 50's for halloween day. today though 76 degrees, with those showers arriving late in the day. tonight, showers early, clearing, overnight, next saturday night, turn those clocks back one hour, daylight savings time comes to an even. halloween looks great. trick or treat forecast dry in the 50's back to the lower 70's for wednesday and thursday. >> is that when you lose an hour. >> no, we gain an hour of sleep. >> good deal. >> good day. >> you're just a bundle of sunshine. >> wow. >> all right. moving on to a really good story actually. dogs with cancer are living longer thanks to cutting edge treatment at the university of pennsylvania school of veterinary medicine. doctors say that the treatment could also one day help humans. at his langhorne home yogi is something of the dog always wanting to protect his family. >> he loves people. he is like a security during always watching coming down the street. >> reporter: after a routine trip to the vet it was he the dog who needed a protecter.

>> he said it is lymphoma and needed treatment. >> longest weekend on have my life until i got to the appointment. then we got there and they told us what we do, and we just didn't take us one second to let's start to it daze and get that treatment in him, as soon as possible. >> reporter: yo good i's cancer was in his limb have node, at first doctors tried chemo. after 19 weeks they put him in a clinical trial of immuno therapy at the university of pennsylvania school of veterinary head. >> many different ways of doing it, one particular way that we're val waiting here is using the bodies own immune system and generating a vaccine outside of the patient's body and then putting it back in. >> reporter: doctors here at penn vet are also looking into how immuno therapy could help humans with cancer because there are apparently two very big similarities between dogs and humans. >> we think that environment, we think genes, all play a

role in initiating and progressing cancers. so, because the dogs share those things with humans they frequently will develop cancers that are very similar to the cancers that we develop. >> reporter: treatment for dogs requires frequent vet visits but for 11 year old yogi and half of the other dogs being tested over the course of the year it works. yogi is in remission. >> coming through the doorway and they look good, and you can see them and they are happy, healthy. good quality of life during it. >> that is absolutely key. >> reporter: so yes, life is good for yogi, back to watching the front door but now he has someone, a team of people watching out for him too. >> i always feel like it is in the shadows, i mean, i'm so happy every day i don't take a day for granted because i love him so much because he is part of the family. >> and they tell me they are working closely with the penn
