investigating this theft in northern liberties. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is live at the scene with what we know at this point. >> reporter: police were called to the 100 block of brown street around 9:20 last night for the report of a car that had been broken into. we now know that was not the only one last night. in the first case, the back passenger window of a buick enclave had been smashed through and three back packs containing laptops among other items were taken. the victims have been identified as out of state staff members on the hillary clinton presidential campaign who were dining at a nearby restaurant when the break in occurred. police say the computers that were stolen may have contained confidential scheduling information for the presidential nominee. in a statement a clinton campaign spokesperson said three advance staffers had personal belongings including back packs and computers stolen from their vehicle. according to the philadelphia police commissioner this appears to be a routine theft and local law enforcement is

handling the matter. we have confidence they will resolve it. those officers work to resolve this break in another victim called police. this woman who didn't want to talk on camera had been parked overnight a few cars weigh from the clinton staffers. we were there as she sorted through the shattered glass, her rear driver's side window had been smashed out. >> i had a lost cash some jewelry, my laptop and my credit card and my debit card. >> reporter: but they weren't able to find your laptop. >> no. but they took everything else. >> reporter: the secret service and the department of homeland security have been notified about the stolen campaign computers. reporting live in northern liberties, alexandria hoff cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> all right, alex thank you so much. meanwhile hillary clinton is heading to the mann music center in philadelphia tonight where she's hosting an event with pop star katy perry which is expected to begin shortly. this as surrogates for both candidates are out in full

"eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan was there. >> reporter: with time almost out and the presidential candidates separated by only a few points in most major polls hundreds of hillary clinton supporters were looking for inspiration from the vice president. >> i love jo joe biden wish he was running but hillary is our candidate and we're very excited. >> oh, yeahism tell me why you're here. why did you want to come. >> because i wanted to vote for hillary and i really want to see the vice president. >> reporter: biden highlight add slate of pennsylvania democrats running for office including katie mcginty. one of their main messages preventing a donald trump presidency. >> ladies and gentlemen, this guy's already doing grave damage to us internationally. >> reporter: while trump was talked about at length biden also tried to energize democrats by highlight something good news about the economy under democrat president barack obama. which as of this week saw unemployment dip below 5 percent. >> we've created more jobs

she's in the cbs3 weather center today. was pretty nice. sun glass emoji. >> definitely needed that today. it was a beautiful day by november standards our first weekend in this month. it was a chilly start to the day with all of that sunshine temperatures really rebounded into the afternoon but we did bottom out at 27 degrees this morning in mount pocono. quakertown 28 degrees, one of our coldest starts in philadelphia at 40 degrees but, yes, we had that sunshine and it did make for a beautiful sunset this evening. check out our time lapse. pile myra nature cove looking at center city philadelphia 58 degrees right now is where we're sitting. winds have lightened up a bit. it was kind of breezy at times throughout the day but still a gorgeous start to the weekend and for this evening still a little breezy at times but not quite as chilly overnight tonight and as we head into the day tomorrow, yes, indeed, we have more sunshine in store. pleasant conditions as well. forecast lows overnight

fatal two-car accident in northeast philly. police say around 2 o'clock this morning two cars were traveling at high speeds before crashing into each other in the 1600 block of grant avenue. one of the cars burst into flames after hitting a utility pole killing the driver. the driver and passenger in the other car were both rushed to the hospital and are expected to be okay. also crews return to the scene of yesterday's massive water main break that flooded a shopping center in east falls. let's take you back to last night. this was the scene and this is the scene this morning. it looks very different. workers have drained most of the water. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh he has more on what the city plans to do now to make sure this doesn't happen again. >> it was a mess, a big one. >> reporter: a day after a water main burst and sent 6 million gallons of water gushing through the baker center parking lot, cleanup continued throughout saturday afternoon but ben nita jones says her car is likely ruined

for good. >> attempted to open the door and i could see water gushing from both side. the mains are more than a century old. >> they were already replaced before then somebody messed up. >> reporter: as cars went under crews went to work rescuing stranded shoppers. >> we ended up making about 60 rescues, moving people around we tried to get some of the shop owners inside their stores using boats. >> reporter: more frustrating than damage customers say is the fact that this is the third water main break here in three years. before friday's event a main burst in 2014 and most recently again in june 2015. >> they need to fix it and fix it right. >> they putting a band-aid on the problem. that they -- they not fixing the problems. >> you know, i feel terrible. >> reporter: city officials say there is a plan in place increase funding to eventually replace the entire main but
