philadelphia. >> sure is, after months of campaigning election day has finally arrived. polls are opening right now in new jersey. and they open in pennsylvania, and delaware, in a hour. >> and just hours ago, donald trump and hillary clinton wrapped up a battleground blitz to drive the vote. we're live with decision day 2016. today is tuesday, november 8th, good morning, everyone, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. it is election day, kate it and meisha have weather answer traffic. >> weather very quiet for sure. perfect for election day. >> we were doing that earlier, we should do it all day long, in fact, my hands hurt from clapping so much, the only hiccup we have, a lot of people will still take it easy, hit the roadways today, seeing some problems because of it, we'll get to that coming up. >> at least the weather again cooperative for us here and nice warming trends to go along with it, don't get me wrong. off to cold start here. see the temperatures read nags

second. storm scan empty. we have light wind, clear sky, beautiful promise after sunrise, so you can see here with the light waves lapping up on the shore line outside in margate, off to pleasant looking start. but it is chilly factor in you have the clear sky, no atmospheric blanket to trap the heat in. and that has allowed the temperatures to drop off readily so at or below the freezing mark in many spots. we did crack the low even the 33 mark in a couple of locations last hour. but we are going to start to see model rebounds, back to substantial rebound later today. as the kids are riding off to school, make sure they have heavier coat. mid to upper 60s for the ride home, so maybe you're polling place is a school t looks like you could get away without the jacket even. if you are going later today. but, eventually, the nice warmth we expect, again the high expected to reach 68 degrees today. that's going to go completely by the wayside, we hit the weekend, with more of a december-like chill in the air. so, coming up later in the show, i'll show you how we get

carabeo live in west depford, new jersey, good morning, jan. jim, rahel, good morning. yes, ma'am, here we go. polls are officially open in new jersey, they just that at 6:00 in the morning. and behind me here at the red bank school in west depford a hands full of people are already inside casting their ballots. very excited to get this election day underway. now, here in the garden state it does seem hillary clinton will take the cake, democrat has done just that since 1992, but across the river, in pennsylvania, that state up for grabs, both candidates spent a lot of time in swing states, yesterday, trying to get out the vote to the very last minute. take a look at the video. hillary clinton had a midnight rally where lady gaga and jon bon jovi joined her on the stage, that was in raleigh, north carolina polls show clinton tied with trump in that state. and earlier in the night, clinton brought the star power to philadelphia. bruce springsteen, bill clinton, president obama and the first lady joined her on stage outside of independence hall. clinton spent the day pushing her message one final time.

about 1:15 this morning. five adult, and two children, are in the care of the red cross, the victims' condition isn't known right now, the cause of that blaze is under investigation. an investigation underway this morning, after philadelphia police shoot and kill a man in north philadelphia. it happened around 7:00 last night, on the 3100 block of north ninth street. investigators say the officers were looking for a man wanted for earlier shooting and when they tried to stop him they say he pointed a gun at them. the man died at the hospital. >> well, today is the first day in a week that septa service is back to normal. coming up: check on your morning commute. live at the frankford transportation center to see how things are running this morning. >> plus, a new warning about energy drinks and how they could put you at risk for serious disease. that's ahead in this morning's health watch. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> ♪ >> it is decision day, so get out there and vote. katie has you're election day

actually even before there was the strike, they were rumbling that there was major concern among public officials and city resident in general how would folks get around to vote if there was a strike. today and for a week we've been able to talk to so many rent a riders getting home much later than usual. so, for example, a gentleman told me his one and had a half hour commute turned into two and a half hour commute, would folks like him be able to get home in time to vote? and team talked about adding several blocks of walking for buses and trains, after long day of commuting would they be too tired to get out to their polling trays? these were posse electric son day problems related to the septa strike that never reached their full potential. there is a message actually now scrolling in front of many buses here that read don't forget to vote. reporting live in frankford, jim jimenez, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> , thank you, and welcome site for so many passengers. >> exactly there is wasn't welcome site.

through here. about 4:00, 5:00 in the morning, far northwest suburbs, then likely moves over the i95 corridor as we are beginning to wrap up the typical rush. so pretty much at the peak, along i95, and mode yacht vicinity, and slight rain. isn't flooding rain. but enough that it will slow you down. the rain always does. then it should be getting out every here toward the early afternoon, maybe little return flow rather, helping to bring in light rain, through southern new jersey early afternoon then done with it by the evening drive. so p.m. drive looks fine. a.m. drive, not so much. meanwhile you're election forecast as we said, does it get better than in? i don't think so. sixty-eight, sunshine, light wind, comfortable warmth, it is just nice. off to a cold start though. don't get me wrong. we've got a lot of you down to near or even below the freezing mark so far this morning. we are going to spike very readily later on today. tomorrow, watching for the showers first half of the day. obviously is a cooler day, as women. meisha? >> katie, thank you so much. perfect weather today to go out and vote.

looking outside, septa strike has ended so you can see how bus at this still is out here. what we are dealing with here, schuylkill eastbound approaching gladwynn, disable vehicle put off to the shoulder. next camera, 95 south past cottman, see if i go there, no, that was smoke you looking very busy. this is what we are talking about all morning long, this is why we are still seeing some roadways. i would say pretty busy this morning. now despite the fact septa has ended its six day strike, we are look good, subways, buses, trolleys, by the way septa vouchers for unused transpasses, make note of that. but a lot of people still worried about what they were telling with for six days, they are setting their alarms little earlier, still hitting the roadways, until back to norm tal will look busy out there. construction still lingering erring about, valley hill road, right lane is blocked there. a lot more coming up in a little bit. first we will take a break, stay right where you are. cbs-3 "eyewitness news" will be right back.

much. good morning to all every you just waking up with us. so glad you're here. septa strike has ended, that's great. but, we still very busy out on the roadways right now. looking at disable vehicle, schuylkill eastbound, approaching gladwynn. it was pulled all the way off to the shoulder. now name looking at the live shot it, might have just cleared. which is going to ease little tension here. see up in the distance a lot of brake lights going off letting us know how busy it is in this area. basically, all interstates and highways right now looking this wait take a look at interstate 95 pushing in the southbound direction past cottman. now, even before we have reached the 6:00 hour mark, this is what it was liking like. and during the septa strike, six days, we know how busy it was getting here. so i any a the love people at home giving themselves extra time. not bad idea, at least extra 20 at this point maybe even 30 minutes, as you are headed out the door this morning, yes, septa, subways, buses, trolleys, all back to normal this morning, which is absolutely going to help. but still going to be dealing with a lot of people hitting the roadway who are thinking

seen first of all a president of the united states, a sitting president, spend so much time on the campaign trail, and scavaging somebody else's opponent. this is really unprecedented. i think it tells you that the democrats are particularly nervous about turn-out in places like philadelphia. and if mrs. obama, mrs. clinton, doesn't bring the black vote in the city to up where obama's was, down significantly, just got real problem on election day, so get out the vote, really going to be concentrated democrats in philadelphia, for donald trump, it will be the western part of pennsylvania, where he has to get that, you know, that white vote, say the blue collar white, without a college degree vote, that's trending very, very strongly toward donald trump, two demographic, so different, jim >> push the get out to vote. hillary clinton of course has bruce springsteen, john bon jovi, katie perry, all helping her get out the vote in philadelphia. do you think those celebrity concerts actually work? >> i don't know.

i asked governor rendell when he was on the show, because i think a lot of people like to see a free concert. but then again, i have to tell you, i left me studio yesterday, and the lines were wrapped as far as could you see, people waited for hours to get in there. i have to think that if you waited hours to get in there, it is probably because it was bigger for you than just hearing brouse springsteen or bon jovi who, let's face it, you get to turn on to the radio and listen to, so i i have to think it is a sign of entheusiasm. but again pennsylvania, today's election day, right, not last night. wasn't like they could take you from the rail last night to the polls today. so will people wake up today and still have that feeling of entheusiasm that the president translate today them last night or will they go oh, good concert, i'm staying home. >> rich, what's a must win for trump, what's a must win for clinton at this point? >> florida, florida, florida, as the old saying goes. look, we will know tonight, i think if this race is going to be over early or late. here's what i mean by that jim f donald trump loses florida it will be a very early night f trump wins florida, it is going to be a very long night.
