6:03 pm
"eyewitness news". it appears voter turnout is we have any philadelphia's northern liberties neighborhood. chopper three is live right now over long line of voters outside polling place at third and fairmount. they are patiently waiting to cast their ballots. now pennsylvania could determine which can states win the white house. and we have team three coverage, on this election day and night. "eyewitness news" is covering all of the races you care about. >> including of course, the presidential election. >> i'm jessica dean live from new york city in the space where hillary clinton will address supporters tonight, will it be a history making night? more when we come right back. i'm natasha brown also in new york with donald trump. we are here at trump headquarters live for election night. how will it end? we will have live reports coming up. and one of our local races could have major national implications, the expensive race for senate between incumbent pat toomey and challenger katie mcginty could affect balance have of power in the senate.
6:04 pm
we have live team three coverage of the race, lets start with david spunt live from breinigsville pennsylvania where toomey is voting later tonight, david. >> reporter: i want to start out with big numbers, in the north carolina national race in 2014, the campaign costs 114 million-dollar, and, this campaign between, and, against over 162 million-dollar, a big gap right there. it is, the most expensive senate the case in the united states history. pat tomb difficult not have any public events. he was out and about i'm told by a campaign staffer. he is going to vote tonight at 6:45. you may wonder and that is late for political candidate but pat toomey has been dealing with a hot powe tait the other over past year or so. he is a republican as you know but he has not announced if he will vote for donald trump. you have never seen donald trump mention pat toomey's name. he has not campaigned with him. mike pence mentioned him once or twice but we want to find out who pat toomey will vote
6:05 pm
for. voters want to know that. he has not said so. he is voting at 6:45 tonight. people here at holiday inn will be let in at 7:30 tonight. we are told senator toomey should make his way into the ballroom at holiday inn just west of allentown probably about 8:00 o'clock or 8:30. reporting live tonight west of allentown in breinigsville, david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". as we continue alexandria hoff is in center city philadelphia, where challenger katie mcginty will be watching the returns, tonight, alex? >> well, ukee, katie mcginty will be joining us at two hours, and and number one in the country, and brought in, and number two in the country, and by the campaign. now, aside from the price tag there, this race is among, just a handful of the country, and if the senate will remain under republican control. so steaks are high and margins are slim. mcginty cast her vote earlier
6:06 pm
today as you you can see here in wayne, born in north philadelphia and raised there, that local connection, it has been a big point of pride on the campaign trail. now 2014 mcginty ran, but appointed chief of staff by governor tom wolf n april of this year she beat on it former congress manning joe sestak to claim the democratic nomination. you know, if she wins tonight she will be the first female from pennsylvania, to represent the state, in the united states senate. reporting live from center city, alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> a lot of eyes on this race, thank you. in the race to pennsylvania's attorney general josh shapiro arrived early to cast his ballot this montgomery county. democratic dan date is chairman of the county board of commissioners and state representative. >> and, they went to the polls together this morning in meadow brooke. he was running against john rafferty junior. rafferty the republican date for attorney general submitted his ballots, in audubon elementary school on egypt road in eagleville.
6:07 pm
both candidates are hoping to philadelphia office left in disarray by former attorney general and convicted felon kathleen kane. voters are finally getting their say in the long contentious race for president. the candidates themselves voted in new york city, where they will watch results roll in tonight. our natasha brownies live at trump headquarters where security is very tight, tonight, natasha. >> reporter: we can assure you that security is extremely tight both outside of this hotel and even getting inside the hotel, it took us about an hour and a half just to get through media security line to get into this ballroom. right now we can show you that the crowd is starting to fill in at this invite only victory party that is what donald trump is calling it. just to get back to the importance of our state, the state of pennsylvania, as it relates to this election tonight. we have always heard road to the white housings through pennsylvania. it is a battle ground state. it always has been. the it is certainly shaping up ton tonight.
6:08 pm
donald trump has been courting voters all throughout the state. lets look at video from one of his last stops last night in scranton, pennsylvania, hundreds of people attended a rally there, he has fired up his base, all throughout this campaign, all throughout the state of of pennsylvania, and touting himself as the outsider in all of this, not the career politician and someone who can bring about real change in washington. just to show you gravity of how much time donald trump and his campaign has spent in the state of pennsylvania, we understand, reportedly that is has made nearly 30 stops in pennsylvania, over the course of the last 17 months or so, over the course of his campaign, of course, last stop again, being there in scranton, pennsylvania last night. so he is hoping to turn the traditional blue state of of pennsylvania, red, and he will have to do that ultimately if he wants to win this election. so we will stay on top of things here, in midtown manhattan, we are live with the trump campaign at trump headquarters, back to you there in the studio.

6:13 pm
the out but it is in the shape of the united states i'm told. that is meant to reflect hillary clinton's wish to be a president for everyone across the you had, not just those people who will vote for her, but for those who won't vote for her if she is elect tonight. so, a lot happening here, in new york city, this is center of the political universe right now but if we take it home to pennsylvania, you will remember last night there were tens of thousands of people there at independent mall with bill and hillary clinton, michelle, barack obama, chelsea clinton, bon jovi so why pennsylvania? why is is it so pivotal? we have all of those electoral votes and for both of these candidates tonight, pennsylvania is pivotal. when you look closely at philadelphia, that is where you have to start watching what will margins becoming out of philadelphia. just what kind of vote, will hillary clinton get against donald trump and a lot of times democrats try to use philadelphia to make up for more conservative more red parts of pennsylvania.
6:14 pm
then, of course, we have surrounding suburbs. that is always been the really key area. this season especially. especially for would hand in those suburbs. so, we're watching carefully to see what vote returns we will get out of there. this will also be a test of the clinton ground game. they talk about their organization, within philadelphia, within pennsylvania, and they set up dozens of offices over the last several months, in this campaign going on. the convention was there this summer. so will that ground game matter? will they be able to turnout votes they need to keep pennsylvania in the democrat's column in we will find out, tonight. ukee. >> it will be a lot on the line tonight. jessica, thanks. we will get back to you. election stress has reached an all time high with the results you this just hours away. people have been bombarded with campaign stress for months now and it has taken a toll on many. >> how do you cope? health reporter stephanie stahl has advice from the experts and check into see how voters were coping on taste
