philadelphia police. pennsylvania senator pat toomey won reelection on election night and thousand preparing for a new six year term. coming up at the 5:30, senator toomey discussing his plans to deliver for pennsylvania under a trump administration. outside pittsburgh a community is mourning after police officer is shot and killed and his partner is wounded. mourners left flowers outside cannonsberg police station for officer scott bashham. he and his partner were ambushed around 3:30 this morning while responding to a domestic violence call. as officers approached the home the suspect shot them both. >> i thought it was garbage man but then i realized it is not garbage day so then i got up and like i said then i heard somebody saying, something about my partner is down. or he has been shot, something along them lines. >> second officer was shot in the stomach and is in intensive care. police say the shooter michael schwinnlinesky killed his

pregnant wife and they be turned the gun on himself and took his own life. the his wife had a protection from boost order. philadelphia police are looking for to armed men who storm in the home in north philadelphia overnight robbing temp students. this happened on the 1400 block of wilmington street just off temple's main campus. the man forced two students to turn over money, electronics before stealing valuables from the bedrooms of the their roommates. the suspect has then fled through the back door no one was injured in the robbery. family and friend gathered to celebrate the life of the cities first african-american fire commissioner, harold hairston. funeral services were held at new covenant church on germantown avenue. hairston held that position from 992 through 2004. and served with the department for 40 years. he died last week at his mt. airy home. hairston was 76 years old. a friend of our community and station. after yesterday's miserable rain, it was a nice sunny day but get ready, the cold is coming. kate bilo joins us now in

when an eye fails to move properly with the brain. eye may look normal but the brain favors just the other eye. lazy eye is one of the most common causes of visual impairment in children affecting three to 5 percent of kid in the united states. >> lazy eye not only has deficits in vision but it causes deficits in 3-d perception, reading and fine motor skills. >> reporter: standard treatment involves patching the opposite eye to force lazy eye to work harder. new research shows an ipad game might be better, it is played with special glasses that sent high contrast images to the stronger eye and then low contrast pictures to the weaker eye. in order to play the game, the child has to work the weaker eye as well as work both eyes, together. >> we found that of the two week visit children who had ipad game improved vision much more than children who passed. both groups improved two lines of vision on the letter chart. and about 40 percent of the children covered normal

it is beautiful. i have never been here. i spent my childhood in chester county. i didn't know this existed. this will not be my last time. my kid will love this place. we will tell you more about it in just a moment. but first lets talk about the weather and talk about that cool down. it is thanks to the cold front moving from the north and west. you might think didn't we just have a cold front yesterday? this is a secondary cold front. it does than the have a lot with it. we will not see much in the way of precipitation but storm scan three is showing a few cloud along with that front and those will come through, tomorrow along with the gusty breeze. we're really going to see the temperature drop in the wake of the front. right now it doesn't feel too bad outside with the the breeze, it is a little chilly but what to expect? we expect to see chilly outside tonight, temperatures dropping in the 30's at least feeling like the 30's overnight thanks to that brisk wind. tomorrow is dry, mild, and it is windy, the winds will pick up as that front approaches and once the front passes through the wind will switch and become northwesterly and that is when we will feel the chill. what does it feel like right now is this temperatures

feeling about five to 6 degrees colder then thermometer indicates. that is mainly thanks to the brisk wind we have. but it is a southeasterly wind ahead of the front so not too bad overnight and tomorrow. real chill arrives on saturday. so again that front comes through tomorrow, tomorrow is a warm day out ahead of it but windy with a high near 60. saturday's high in the 40's. wind will make it feel even colder on saturday, and then sunday is a pretty quick rebound which is good news, lot going on, of course, on sunday. we have eagles, lemon run for alex's lemonade stand and we will show you them in our next half an hour. as far as tonight and tomorrow are concerned, tonight we're down to 44 degrees with a chilly breeze and that breeze will headache it feel more like the 30's for mess of us. for your friday a mix of sun and clouds, it is windy, it is mild. high up to 62 degrees. not too bad at all of course for your veterans day if you have the day off, celebrating with a vet, nice day to get outside. the weekend is colder. look at the this raise in temperatures we will go from 62 tomorrow to only 49 degrees on saturday but then we will rebound, right back to more
