sacrificed in the nation's arm forces. >> than is a look at the world war ii memorial in washington dc. a world war con fed rum, attended today's ceremony, made another special visit while in the nation's capitol. we will bring that you story in just a few minutes. good afternoon, i'm jan carabeo. >> i'm jim donovan. there are many observes cents taking place in our area today. anita oh, is live in media where the annual parade is underway. good afternoon, anita. >> reporter: good afternoon, jim, jan, a lot of emotion here, large crowd gathered honor those who served before us, you can see the 57th annual veterans day parade here in delaware county happening as we speak. the courthouse here in media is the ending point of this parade, which began at 11/11:00 this morning, we've spoke tone so many veterans and their families, some who geared up remembering their time in the service. and many who say they're so proud to be americans. we also spoke with richard snow, who served in the navy during the viet nam war.

he explains what this day means to him. >> it rep renz what america is really about, and the men and women who served and are still serving. >> without question, put their lives on the line every day, and i think so much of our society has just taken that for granted. >> again, so many people we've spoken to, getting emotional, and expressing their pride to be american. you can see, that the parade is coming through, now, it will start wrapping up here, shortly, and they'll have a ceremony here at the courthouse. throughout this program we'll hear from media mayor bob mccann, also expect to see cadets here from the valley forge military academy, we will bring you all of the sites and sounds tonight on "eyewitness news" at 5:00 and 6:00. for now live in media, anita oh. >> great day for a parade, thank you. university of delaware observing veterans day in support of student veterans and service members, who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. more than 6900 flags were

placed on the green of the main campus, commemorate americans, killed in service to their country since september 11, 2001. volunteers from student groups, greek organizations and rotc began setting up those flags, at 6:00 in the morning, at the memorial. >> more than 16 million americans served in the armed forces during world war ii. >> and on this veterans day, one of those oldest living members of the greatest generation is celebrating 108 years, and it is making new memories in washington, d.c. and he's from hat borough craig boswell has the story. >> everywhere phil moore goes, crowds always gather. and the 108 year old world war ii veteran always has a message. >> the only country where you have all your freedom. >> the army sergeant fought for that freedom from 1943 to 1945, serving in north africa, italy, germany, and france.

he still wears the legion of honor metal given to him by the french government. >> mr. bill goes to washington. >> his daughter joanne brought him to one of the most meaningful places for him here, the world war two memorial. she says it makes him feel young. >> i love when he says they say bill how do you feel today? he goes, you know, i feel a lot better at 103. >> here is bill at 104 with his wife, josie, he lost the love of his life just two years later. in advance every his first trip to the white house. >> if they don't move it. >> his humor hasn't fade in the his 108 years, nor have the memories of his brother lost in battle. >> to all of the american boys who lost their lives. >> he doesn't shy away from sharing his emotions or making new friends, greeting fowl world war ii veteran making his first visit to the shrine for their service on the national mall in washington. as one of the old he living members of the greatest generations, moore is not letting age slow him down.

>> it is apparent that he and his fellow veterans have that, and more. craig boswell, cbs news, washington. 108 years old, amazing. mayor kenney was in attendance for today's wreath laying ceremony our area in honor of veterans day. veterans, their children, and many others came out to the ceremony which took place at the tomb of the unknown soldier of the revolutionary war at seventh and walnut streets. the mayor some brief remarks in observance of the holiday, while not much fighting took place in the city during that war, many veterans who served under george washington, were, in fact, burried there. >> well, on this veterans day, so far, we certainly couldn't have asked for better weather. but, what's to comfort rest of the day? let's get a first look at the forecast with meteorologist, katie fehlinger live out there on the cbs-3 skydeck. how is it feeling now, katy? >> not terrible jan. the sun is shining brightly, even the sun angle needs to drop at this point, still seeing full sunshine right now. few clouds with time, there is

actually a frontal boundery that's going to be crossing through, and if you recall, we had wet weather, throughout our entire wednesday, because, of that frontal boundery that just came through, this time, it is a totally different story. look at storm scan, granted, few clouds here and there, starting to show up on storm scan3, but, you're in the going to find any wet weather out of this, for example. current temperature readings up and down the earn tire i95 corridor, even tad milder go into some of the southeastern counties. in palmyra, up at 64 right now, pretty mild beginning to the afternoon, the problem is this doesn't last for very long, again, cold front passage. now, actually since upped our expectations with a high today. just giving you one extra degree to work with, 63 the eventual high here in philadelphia on this veterans day, but the winds is the other thing that continues to be a running theme here. that will continue to be noticeable, you're going to see gusts peaking as high as i would say 30 miles per hour off and on throughout the day, certainly if you are headed to the friday football frenzy game of the week tonight or

>> i can't ask for a better day to honor our veterans. >> you said it, yes. and there is a breeze, obvious lip, but not terribly chilly outside. it really is a nice afternoon that's unfolding right now. we going to see sunshine all weekend long. that always helps, right? but there is pretty significant chill that will set until for our area, as women, looking ahead to tomorrow specially. that's where we really see some of the coldest thayer we've seen a, this season so far, and b, since this past april. it will have to go back pretty far before we find temperatures like we're actually going to going to find tonight. walking you through it, cold front moving on through. we look at storm scan3 at very wide zoom. you know, you got to sort of look closely to figure out what's going on here. because the front that's moving through doesn't actually have any precipitation associated as far as we are concerned, we

months, so, it will be a bit of a rude awakening come sunday up ear's, and that's the theme beyond that point into monday even into tuesday, but by tuesday there may even be couple of showers which we'll talk about in the seven # day. here is the current winds speeds, guys, pretty impressive. you're into the teens, 20's at this point, sustained winds speeds. it is more of a dusty wind, though, as of afternoon progresses, gust cost peak as high as 30 miles per hour, which means that as the brisk conditions continue tomorrow, 34 is cold enough. but it may actually feel no better than the 20's, as you walk out the door tomorrow morning. twenty-five to 30 is the general range of how it will feel in philadelphia county, the vast majority of the surrounding counties. so, little cooler, little milder depending on location, regardless, real taste of wintertime. the eagles have a game then on sunday. it looks like much better weather there, as the winds tapers off little bit. 56 degrees, little milder, too, for you at kick off, the falcons come into town, really cool thing is happening on sunday night, guys. the extra super moon, sunday
