minute, jan, back to you. >> justin, thank you. well, i hope these people are wearing their layers. happening today, thousands are hits the grounds running for the annual rocky run. it starts and ends near the art museum steps,, where we find "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, live this morning. hi, anita, how is it looking? >> reporter: good morning, jan, they have the pump up music going. there is a big crowd now starting to gather here near the art museum for the rocky run. there will be two separate runs happening, and then in total there is 13 miler as well, you can see that there are multiple people, who are here, there is a big crowd of volunteers also seeing some runners, couple of people also dressed up as rocky, and there is a costume contest, as well. but, they were joined by michael sullivan who is running this race, he's from lancaster, he has very inspiring story. michael, tell us what inspired you to run this race today? >> i got bit by a spider and contracted mersa, and doctors were talking about me losing my leg, i swore if i could

keep my leg i would do a half marathon and rocky balboa run was it, that's the one i chose. >> you're a big fan of rocky? >> love rocky. >> tell us the emotion going through your minds when were you in the hospital bed? >> i was very upset, worried that i would lose my leg, how i was going to take care of my family. then like i said i just kept praying that if i keep my leg, this half marathon was something i wanted to do for myself. i chose the rocky balboa run. >> reporter: what kinds of training has gone into preparing for this day? >> a lot of good dieting, and a lot of miles on my legs and trying to rehab my legs, my knee, back into good health. >> reporter: how are you feeling this morning, the weather is a little chilly out there, but how are you feeling today about it? >> ready to run, ready to go, ready to do this half marathon. >> reporter: anything you want to tell our views about your story how you got back on your feet, i guess any message that you have for people who may be in a similar situation? report. >> i've been a lot every

inspiration to other people. but everybody can find their own inspiration if they take down and do something for themselves. it is always about crossing the finish line. that's what makes you happy. >> reporter: thank you so much, michael, good luck to you. now, running up those steps is not part of this run today. but we can imagine there are going to be tons of people who are doing that. and, again, there are two separate runs going on, and then in total there is the 13 miler. and those who finish that 13 miles, in a specific amount of time, will receive an italian stallian medal. so, for now, live at the here at the art museum, anita oh. >> good for michael, good luck to him, as well. new this morning: fire has damage add row home in philadelphia's olney neighborhood. injuring one person. firefighters got the call to a house on the 6,000 block of north philip street. there is no word on how seriously this person was hurt or the extent of the damage to that home. >> in another part of olney, philadelphia police investigating an accident. it happened early this morning, at fifth and

rockland. there is no word on injuries or how many cars were involved in this crash. the president-elect has given his first interview to cbs60 minute. he reveals what hillary clinton said to him on election night. >> hillary called you. tell us about that phonecall. >> so hillary calls. and it was a lovely call. and it was a tough call for her. i mean, i can imagine. tougher for her than it would have been for me and for me it would have been very, very difficult. she couldn't have been nicer. she just said congratulations, donald, well done. and i said i want to thank you very much, were you a great competitor. she is very strong and very smart. >> reporter: what about bill clinton? did you tubing him? >> donald trump: he called the next day. >> reporter: what did he say. >> donald trump he actually called last night. >> and what did he say? >> donald trump donald trump: he couldn't have been more gracious. he said it was an amazing run. one of the most amazing he's ever seen.

anti-trump rallies in several cities including philadelphia. chopper three over center city, where several hundred people marched through the streets, and impact dollars traffic. the philadelphia protest remained peaceful. >> well the university of pennsylvania and mayor jim kenney are denounce ago act of hate targeting u pen student. someone sent racist and threatening messages to black fresh machine. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff has reaction. >> i didn't know what it was at first. them i look, i saw what it was. >> this is a freshman at the university of pennsylvania. like a majority of her black piers, blatently racist and threatening messages began appearing on her phone through the messaging app group me. seen over 150 others had been added to a group with the title, using the "n" word, and included at an event under have i takes for a lynching among other threats. she asked we not show her face. >> out of all places i didn't think my school would be the school that had to go through it.

>> reporter: in a statement the university said we've increased campus safety and are reaching out to support the affected student in every way we can we want them to know the entire penn community stands with them. mayor jim kenney also weighed in, expressing in part, it is heart breaking to see this type of activity, here in the birth place of our democracy, in a sit of brotherly love. student of all different backgrounds, stood out in the cold, to show support for their fellow students. this. >> this is unacceptable. we won't have this happening on our campus. the group me message threat featured the name of president-elect donald trump throughout, student believe that this is linked to election fall out. >> i don't think like it is a coincidence it just so happened now. >> reporter: according to the university the creator of the group, someone in oklahoma, police are investigating alexandria hoff,. >> haddon township police release dash cam video from gram attic officer involved

shooting. >> the incident hand during a traffic stop on alabama road on october 29th. the video shows edmond brown driving off with the officer clinging to the driver side window. vehicle then slammed into park car brown attempt topped run away, struggle ensued, a shot went off striking brown in the leg. he was arrested. camden county prosecutor's office is investigating the shooting. >> well, veterans day celebrations have taken place all across our area. in media, delaware county, they held their annual parade. >> veterans young and old alike, including those from world war ii, and a member of the toss keying pierre men were in attendance, local marching bands, local student, former military members. the parade considered the largest veterans parade in the

area. more than 300 veterans were also recognized at the valley middle school in horsham. the student served breakfast to active duty and retired veterans in honor of veterans day. student also mingled with those veterans to learn more about their lives, and to thank them for their service. national constitution center welcomed veterans and families of ten in honor of veterans day. children wrote thank a vet postcards, took part in arts and crafts. veterans for multiple conflict throughout our nation's recent history shared stories, and answered questions about their service. >> the philadelphia airport also honored veterans yesterday. the event featured a performance by us troop and a flag ceremony. mayor jim kenney was in a ten damages, as well as the airport's ceo. the most senior serving veteran in the mayor's administration. well, we told you about him on thursday before he was headed to the white house to have breakfast with the president. that happened yesterday morning. and the president had a

so should be pretty impressive. hopefully the clouds pulled off long enough monday evening to get a good shot of the moon. storm moves in from the moon for next week. cloud free skies over most location action, check it out at the shore, nice sunrise, shaping up, in about a half hour or so. and nice calming conditions here on the ocean this morning. current temperatures along the coast, generally mid 30's, to about 40 degrees. but even at the coastline, we will struggle to get near 50 today. sunrise for philadelphia, coming in at 6:43 this morning, so everything gets later and later, as we head toward the winter solsus, december 1st, coming in 7:04. january 1st, 7:22 in the morning for that sunrise, and we're losing daylight, this number actually come down, as you get close to the first day of winter, obviously passed the first day we start to gain the daylight. factor in the winds this morning, feeling like 15, mount pocono, it at this hour, 26 allentown, 31 wilmington, so most areas generally dealing with a lot of winds, exception up in the poconos at this hour, little breezy.

visual impairment in children. health reporter stephanie stahl has the results from the latest stud. >> i one of the most common causes of visual impairment in children, affecting three-5% of kids in the u.s. >> not only has deficit in vision, but causes deficits in depth perception, reading and fine motor skills. >> the standard treatment involves patching the opposite eye to force the lazy eye to work hard earl, new research shows ipad game might be better if played with special glasses, that sends images to the stronger eye, and low contrast pictures to the weaker eye. in order to play the game, the child has to work the weaker eye as well as work both eyes together. >> we found that at the two week visit children who had the ipad game improved vision much more than children who passed both groups improved of two lines every vision on the letter chart. >> and about 40% of the children recovered normal vision.

involved today. >> we just love dressing up, you know, the atmosphere is awe s we love the city. we do runs for fun. just to be out here with the people. it is just cold. i'm huge rocky fan. so i have to do the rocky run. >> you said that you guys aren't these crazy runners, but why are you running this today? >> mainly for the medal, i did it last year, i run for the medals, energy is a killer, i just love it. loved it last year. i want to do it every year. i've -- a couple of races since then. just fun. the crowd gets you hyped. love it. >> what is the hardest part of training or is there even any training involved? i know for me i have to train for 5k's but -- >> i work out six days a week, but i don't necessarily train to run. it is just part mentally. i get to one point after two and a half miles i'm done, i don't want to run any more, i want to walk. but, you know, then you just are like no, come on, let's

vandalism that we've seen in some other cities. >> reporter: portland, oregon, police used tear gas and smoke grenades after warning protesters to leave there. for a fourth straight night, hundreds marched through that sit. many were peaceful, but portland police say a confirm takes on a bridge ended with one man wounded. his injuries, how much, are not life threatening. protesters also continued for the fourth night in los angeles. hundreds marched in the streets and gathered at city hall. but police did manage to keep them off the freeways. marlie hall is in new york. another city where people are protesting trump's election. >> for the third straight night, thousands of people in major us cities protested president-elect donald trump. in atlanta they burned an american flag in the middle of the road. demonstrators stopped traffic on a major highway in miami.

"eyewitness news" reporter pat gallen tells us about the long journey he just returned from, and the one he hopes to take. >> each day new puzzle, for one local student, each day is a newtown to make and solve a puzzle. walker anderson is a master of puzzles. the central bucks west sophomore actually builds them on his own and has turned his interesting hobby into much more, including, a trip to europe. that trip to europe was to compete in the world puzzle championship in slovakia, where the 15 year old did very well. >> 200 people competed. how did you do? >> i ended up getting tent as an individual. >> out of everyone? >> out of everyone, yes. >> yes, 15 year old math and puzzle wiz went to europe and finished ten in the world.
