4:32 am
a.c. airport, also only at 51 degrees, i would say the further inland, especially north you travel, you may still see some breaks in the clouds, too, so you can continue to view the supermoon out there as it continues to shine very brightly, and even though not the best view like we saw yesterday, still viewing opportunity. low 50's are the story up and down the shore point right now, because of all of the clouds, helping to trap in the heat that we manage to build up yesterday. eventually we hit the upper 50's at the shore and here in philly, again, spotty showers, maybe bit more numerous the closer to the coast you are. regardless it is a disturbance it, will slow some of us down. >> and now the supermoon, i saw some of the pictures yesterday. >> gorgeous. >> absolutely gorgeous. you said t all right, looking outside, checking on the vine, closed for construction between the schuylkill and broad, absolutely slow you down, you may want to give yourself couple of extra minutes, see the crews, flashing lights, hopefully this clears within the next half hour. but both westbound and eastbound are affected right

4:35 am
on west monroe, couple of officers standing outside. inbetween the two houses the one with the lights on the right, and the home where the officers are standing outside, that alleyway, that walkway right there, that's where they are investigating most, taking g a lot of pictures, taking evidence. work to go get an update on that woman's condition but as far as we know here a woman assaulted here in the early morning hours, still working on whether there is a suspect in this case. we're going to toss it back into you for now. >> jan, thank you. a man is now dead after he shot multiple times in the face in philadelphia's fairmount section, 35 year old man died around 10:30 last night near ridge avenue and cambridge street. police tell "eyewitness news" they've not recovered any weapons, no one in custody. around the same time last night in philadelphia's kingsessing section, police say someone found a -- stabbed a teen boy multiple times. police responded to the call around 10:30, 1400 block of south posit street. police believe the boy is around 15, 16 years old, now

4:39 am
4:41 am
>> senior trump official says former new york mayor rudy guiliani is the favorite to the secretary of state. has been speculation, giuliani, might be in line for attorney general. during the news conference, president obama said he has concerns about mr. trump. he added, how much, these remarks. >> i think it is important for us to let him make his decision and i think the american people will judge over the course of the next couple of years whether they
4:42 am
like what they see. >> and trump's office and the kremlin say trump had a phonecall with russian president schrat near putin, the two reportedly agreed work on relations between the two countries. >> this morning dangerous fire burning across 3800 acres of north carolina is only 15% contained, more than 450 firefighters from more than 100 agencies are fighting the blaze from the western part of the state. dry, windy weather is making it tough for firefighters take control of the blaze. mandatory evacuations remain in place in several counties across the state. >> well the supermoon may have been beautiful site to see, but caused problems for people living along parts of the east coast. streets, cities, closed due to coastal flood advisory, video from charleston, south carolina miami and fort lauderdale also experienced flooding, now, experts say the gravitational pull from the supermoon amplified what's known as the seasonal high. officials say the moon won't
4:43 am
look at big or as bright for another 18 years. and speaking of the moon, this is a time lapse over phoenix, arizona. hope you got a good look at it. boy, look at. that will expert say the next time we'll likely see the moon this close to the earth will be sometime around 2033. >> oh, only 2033. my gosh. >> just around the corner. >> right? isn't it funny how that time will fly, though? >> exactly. >> but gorgeous, gorgeous views, yes. and, you know, even though we do have -- you will see, it will be little erie looking but will be some moonlight through the clouds, depending where you are, you do not have wet weather now anyway. turning much more into scattered nuisance type of system, scattered showers out of it, the closer to the coast, best shot to see the steady rain. so we start things off still looking at the radar, sense of what's going on with this thing, if you look at the cloud structure at least, because there is decent organization with it, but when it comes to the actual rain that it is producing here locally, it is really
4:44 am
scattered showers, guys. so, you can see the heaviest rain bands, that's at least closest to the coast, really just scraping past ocean, monmouth county, maybe it will extend into eastern burlington, but it is lifting north, so that particular ban was pretty much the best shot we have of seeing any kind of soaking rain, than official rain no less. but at least what's good is that the more significant drought concerns are actually confined to the coast. and out toward new england. so, this is going to be, again, beneficial rain for those folks. and otherwise it is mainly just scattered showers, if anything, really, for the rest of us. so, i would say, if you're not crazy about take your umbrella with us, you can probably get away without it, mainly morning event, then out of here later today. beyond that point, high pressure will regain it control, bring with it a nice little warming trend. so here's what you can expect in terms of bullet points when it comes to the rain, all spotty for the most part, steadiest as we mention eastern new jersey, not talking about much more than quarter of an inch if we're lucky, so yes, it will slow you down on the morning drive, but not by a lot.
4:45 am
it always does. if you have got even 11 raindrop it will slow you down, not talking any deluge or flooding concerns. fifty-eight the eventual hi, skies do begin to, dropping to 42 through the overnight, take it forward here, yes, again, nice little warming trend. hit pair of six's, both friday, saturday, and it will be nice, bright, sunny, both of the days. really just very, pleasant weather there, meisha. >> loving the look of the weekend, katie, thank you so much. all right, so we've got our heads up, rain kind of coming in today as katie said, one drop can slow us down, right now roads are look dry, vine right now, where we were closed from overnight construction, just opening, the westbound side between the schuylkill and broad, eastbound side as you can see the crews are still out there, it is still closed. westbound side, possibly just opening right now. and the boulevard we have construction earlier, southbound, fox street, ridge avenue, kelly drive. that's now been cleared. boulevard looking both directions, looking pretty good. we know this is one of the busier spots, certainly got
4:46 am
this yesterday, and new jersey, 42 freeway northbound creek road, still dark out there, still very early, roadways are nice and dry, for now, for right now, and this is what you are looking at, new jersey, looking okay. it looks like a lot of cars are out there but typically what it looks like. water main break in malvern, lancaster avenue, heads up on that. no slow downs as of yet. absolutely can be some little later. then construction northeast extension southbound, through quakertown, left and right lanes are blocked there. over to you. >> thank you, there is an effort underway to save a lot of pennies for ben franklin. go fund me page to raise $10,000 to save his gravestone. it has a crack from weather exposure, and chips for years of people tossing pennies on it, that's the famous phrase a penny saved is a penny earned. so far they've raised a thousand dollars. >> a penny for your thoughts. >> i live in the neighborhood. anything they can do to
4:47 am
preserve that, because it is a great tourist attraction. >> getting away for thanksgiving you. >> be joining hundreds of thousands of other people specially traveling by car. we'll tell you whether you think to expect more traffic than last year, and the day the congestion will be at its worse, stay with us.
4:49 am
>> expecting over 500,000 people in the philadelphia area will be traveling by car next week, up about 1% over last year. of course, many people will be traveling to philadelphia to spends the holiday, it ranks as number nine in triple a's top ten destinations this thanksgiving. >> now, tuesday will be the busiest day police by car and wednesday, will be the busiest for those flying. >> time now 4:49. time for check on business news. >> money watch's jill wagner,
4:50 am
joins us live this morning from the new york stock exchange, jill, good morning. >> so the head of the security and exchange commission or the ftc stepping down. what's behind that? >> likely is the election result. mary jo white is leaving at the end of the obama administration, the president appointed her in february of 2013, her term doesn't actually end until 2019. the president-elect trump nominee could move to end restrictions on wall street banks and corporation action, so certainly a big deal. jim, rahel? >> jill, on lighter news, oreo, i understand, is rolling out it first candy bar? >> yes, oreo, there are two of them, the oreo chocolate bars, filled with vanilla cream and/or yo cookies, then coated with chocolate, and the oreo big crunch bar is a oreo cookie sandwiched between two layers of van all cream and then coated with chocolate. the big crunch bars are available at walnut, kroeger, shoprite, and albert son's.
4:51 am
in case you want to check it out. >> i saw picture of it floating out on social media the other day. >> i hate to be a debbie downer, but good enough, the original, good enough as it is. >> stop it. >> katie, flipping out, our weather person wants one every these right now. >> amazing, amazing, that's what that sounds like. you need a sugar rush to get through this morning. >> thank you, jill. jill, see you soon, thank you. >> there is some rain moving through part of the area right now. >> katie, apparently some people would need to grab the umbrella this morning, but the day won't be total wash out. >> definitely not. in fact, it is more after nuisance than anything. i'll track this system for you, gave you a sense of who actually get the steady rain, also of course have your full forecast, about to get awfully chilly, folks, and i'll let
4:53 am
4:54 am
>> we overlook off in the distance, lehigh university, moravian college in the for grounds here, one of my favorite cameras that we have. and "skycam 3", very calm, collected, not just here in bethlehem, but pretty much everywhere else. we do have a system, though, moving through so some will have wet or damp roadways, especially true if you are headed out toward eastern new jersey, look at storm scan3, what you will notice is that the bulk every precipitation has shifted taught sea, so unless you're near the coastal communities, this is more of just big fans nuisance more than anything, and i dare some of could you get around, now, future weather in my opinion little under done. >> bulk every precipitation, either in eastern new jersey or rise up into long island, connecticut. we are going to see scattered shower through the course of this morning. but, that's really it. and then this pulls away, we clear out, left with sunshine possibly even through the
4:55 am
clouds as the day progress cents, so very under well mink event in general, but the best shot for rain that we've got in the next five days. look at this. not only warm up, brighter and brighter conditions, friday, saturday, gorgeous, but by sunday, big changes. bye change, look at the drop off, another system looks like it is come our way, too. >> 20 degrees? yes, heed the warning. that the rain will come in little spotty like katie said. it will slow us down, so, right now, what we're looking at interstate 95 southbound, girard, one of the that's we know is going to get busy. >> this is what you're looking at headed out the door within the next half hour, it will start, so i would say ten to 15 minute, cracking into the 5:00 hour, one area that really start to change, right now, starting to build, ever so slightly, vine closed overnight, between the schuylkill and broad. so you can see, westbound, looking good, looking open, eastbound side, waiting on
4:56 am
that to open right now. so that should be following suit very quickly, also, ac rail line, it is working on that, some construction going on there because we've got special schedule running between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. so again, septa make sure to check your schedules on line, for now, ac rail line that we're seeing is changing, and also, some construction, a.c. expressway at the garden state parkway. jim, over to you. >> thank you, meisha. coming up in the next hour of cbs-3 "eyewitness news", how authorities are working to secure donald trump's new york city home. >> plus, hillary clinton speaks to the democratic leadership, her message about her election. >> and charges filed on the campus of penn state after unruly behavior last month. we'll have an update when we come back at the top of the hour. stay with us.

5:00 am
you down, plus talking about a water main break, that coming up in a little bit. katie, talking a little about the rain? >> specifically eastern new jersey, you know, i think the further inland you are, this couldn't mess with you too muchment and when you see storm scan3, you'll understanded why. this is coastal disturbance, look at the bulk of the precipitation is actually hanging out over the open ocean waterment that's helpful. not super soaking rain either. when you go out to ocean, monmouth counties, but it is the steadiest, the most widespread, even into burlington county the tri-state sweep, mainly splitting our region into thirds. the further inland you go, basically, two thirds of our area, are finding most scattered of scattered showers out there. most numerous showers you'll find go east. okay? so, for example, will they be impacted by there is a.c. expressway, to the shore, will be impacted by this but the bulk of the heavy stove stuff will retreat off to the north, actually going clear out even as early as late morning, but specially this afternoon. area temperatures at the moment, where you have got
