"eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live with one of the stores affected, greg. >> reporter: good afternoon, good evening, you guys, with extended family in town you might already been thinking about having that drink before a big chunk of the afternoon it was very hard to purchase wine or liquor at state run stores. that is because you credit card system at these stores went down. now take a look right there we are showing you video from our very own joe holden from havertown where workers put the cash only sign up, to warn customers picking up that last minute bottle of wine. here at the state wine fine wine and good spirits store in center city near 20th and market, the line wrapped around the store. the customers say the credit card system started to come back on line around 5:00 o'clock but it has been a long wait for many. spokesperson for the pennsylvania liquor control board says that their credit card system was flooded with transactions between three and 4:00 this afternoon, essentially overloaded inn and had to be reset. state it worker did just that

and now their credit card system is backup and running with a few outages but not before some very tense moments for some customers. >> luckily, cashier called me, credit card machine was working but next to me it was not and then i was down and moved him over and slowing down the system. frustrating some people and everyone is commenting as they look at the line and they are shopping. i couldn't templated leaving. >> i waited it out, and camping for concert tickets. >> reporter: dig out the cash too. >> yeah, i don't think a lot of people had cash. so we were really stranded. people were just standing there, waiting and hopefully got back on line and they are up on line now so it wasn't too bad. >> reporter: back here live, that is the end of the line right now. this is about an hour after that credit card system was resolve. i want to show you where front of the store was and it ace bit of the walk right here. that line is right there, end of the line and here is where beginning stan.

i spoke with some customers they are saying that at least a 30 minute wait to purchase liquor or wine, right now, even because of the last minute rush. but fortunately this stories opened until 10:00 o'clock tonight. we are live from center city, i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks for the update. with the thanksgiving day holiday upon us police across our region are on the look out for drunk drivers. cherry hill police say that they will have eight extra dui patrols, on the road, starting this evening, and regular patrol officers will also be searching, for suspended drunk drivers. >> it is not just about people going to the bars and deciding to potentially drink and drive, but it is other people also on the roadway, so, it is important that we're out there, for everyone's protection. >> the chief also says that the thanksgiving holiday weekend has become even more dangerous then new years eve when it comes to driving under the influence. and thanksgiving rush is on, chopper three is live over i-95 near the the tacony palmyra bridge where you can see plenty of taillight,

headlights, people packing the high way trying to get home for the holiday festivities. and we have had team three coverage tonight tracking road, rails, and skies. the lets start with "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff over at 30th street station, alex. >> reporter: well, ukee, things are looking pretty congested around here, i have not seen anything go out on time, all evening, delays, right now, ranging between five minutes to over two hours. >> unaudible. >> reporter: there was nothing more passengers at 30th street station could do but listen for announcements and stare at a board dotted by lays. >> listen, i just got to stay here and see what happens. >> reporter: he is talking about a three hour plus delay for his train up to connecticut from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. all trains operating to delaware were in a stand still after a trespasser was struck and killed by regional rail train in wilmington. that line has been now restored but the backlog means

were surprised at how well everything was going. >> a lot of people, not as much as i thought though. >> it has been pretty good. we were expect ago lot more traffic, then that. it has been great. easy to get through. >> good weather for a vast majority of the country is helping, foster shoot conditions for a lot of travelers out there. for some passing through new jersey on the way to family and friend they are encountering sticker shock at gas pump thanks to the state's recently increased gas tax. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan is live in bellmawr with more on that, cleve. >> reporter: well, if it is your holiday tradition to gas up in new jersey, and i regret to inform you that the gas here is not as cheap as it used to be. triple a finds this week compared to the same time last year 22 cents per gallon more and, of course, that is because you of the 23 cents per gallon gas tax that went into east affect on november 1st. now this gas taxis intended to

fund road, bridge, rail projects, throughout new jersey, for the next eight years. it is also something that will replenish that transportation trust fund. we have talked to a lot of people that are happy about paying extra money but they say it will not put a bitter taste in their mouth the day before turkey day. >> this is a tradition we have been doing for 25 years. we go to the hershey hotel, we have thanksgiving day dinner. so no, it doesn't impact us. >> a lot of people cry and moan about it but it is not like it went up 23 cents a gallon when it was $3.50. it was right at two dollars. i will not go broke. >> reporter: i know our friend in pennsylvania, and delaware aren't going to want to hear this but one of the reasons they increased gas taxis that they hope to get more money, from out of state travelers. live from bellmawr, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". all right, thanks very much. manayunk brewing company is giving back to families in

need for thanksgiving holiday. volunteers pick up hundreds of gift bags packed with traditional thanksgiving fares today. restaurant says dinners will feed up to 1200 people. recipients all live in the philadelphia region and were chosen by local non-of the organizations. adelphia restaurant in deptford is cooking autopsy lot of turkies. today, the baylor family owners of the restaurant gave away free thanksgiving meals to families in need. complimentary four hour sit down dinner included turkey, stuffing, salad, potatoes, vegetables, soft vegetables and pumpkin pie for dessert. adelphia partnered with the mayor of deptford to make today possible. thank you all. there were dog dust tend for death and now they are finding a home. when we come back behind bars but not locked up, the program that is saving the lives of these animals, and improving the lives of those caring for them as well. also tonight. >> i use the kind of questions

well, police say new clue as they continue their search for the driver, who hit and killed, an eight year-old in west philadelphia last friday and never stopped. family and friend of jay anna powell marshall on 63rd street tonight to raise awareness of the child's tragic death and they are urging the public to call police with any tips, that could lead to jay and a's killer. police just released this photo of the silver nissan maxima or silver nissan altima that they believe hit the girl at 63rd and land down.

it likely has a damaged grill and front headlights. philadelphia's mayor jim kenney has launched a task force to crackdown on pan handling and provide better aid to the homeless. group is comprised of more than a dozen leaders from business hospitality and civic communities. the goal, it is to make sure that public spaces in philadelphia can be safely enjoyed by all. group will also look at ways to improve meal delivery to the homeless. city is honoring philadelphia department of prisons for its transformative work. city councilman bobby henan presented a citation to administrators of the new lesion life program and other initiatives. "eyewitness news" at curran-fromhold prison in the northeast. new lesion life program matches inmates with dogs with rescued from kill shelters. they have been working together to improve each others lives. both taking advantage of second chances. >> repeat rate is drastically reduced in this program because of the wrap around, support services that are provided, post release which

here's a look right now. light are not on. the it is not on right now. i have shown you this the past few days. we have seen snow machines going, going, going, lots of fresh powder. they will open up for the weekend. the great time to head up to jack frost big bold inner carbon county. you can see snow on the branch there. quick look at storm scan three shows jack frost big boulder may get a few more flakes heading through tonight and into tomorrow, warm front pushing through. this is ahead of the main storm that will be still delivering a chance for showers tomorrow but as part of tonight, we will see light showers, even snow showers, and just started to break out of our northern suburbs. you can see purple indicating light snow down toward pottsville, reading, we are seeing light rain showers here but notice where that line is. this is not heavy. few light flakes, a to showers but there is a chance for icing spots to develop overnight in these areas. we will talk about that in just a moment. here's another batch moving through south central pennsylvania and can't rule out a couple of these syringe also in the philadelphia area

overnight. but the main push of this storm is this front back to the west. that is what will swing through during the daze tomorrow. notice it is starting to fizzle on the southern half, it is lifting, indication it is weakening. we will not get quite as much rain as they are seeing in the midwest tonight. cannot rule out a shower anytime, overnight tonight, and into tomorrow. you can see up in the poconos definitely cold enough for light snow or freezing rain, 32 degrees in mount pocono. forty-one in allentown. forty-six in philadelphia. and then 39 down in millville. if you are in the northern lehigh valley in the poconos, any of these light showers that move in overnight could deliver the chance of some light freezing rain. isolated slick spots especially bridges, overpasses, and it is slippery first. heading out late tonight or tomorrow morning in the northern suburbs just take it slow. tomorrow is main push of that storm coming through notice how it fizzles, and scattered showers, that is bit and then lingering clouds as we get in the black friday. look at thanksgiving day, across the country, lets check
