people are lining up to drop off their turkey to be cooked in the cacia's massive brick oven. >> we are tracking holiday showers, katie will time it out as we head to your turkey day festivities. >> it is thursday, of this 24th, happy thanksgiving, i'm joe holden jim donovan is off. i'm rahel solomon. lets check on the weather. katie, happy thanksgiving. >> yes, i think there is a couple of showers that will work their way through. we are not talking about anything dire. this is all minor stuff. enough that i have to mention it, and that is pretty much it. >> enough to bring umbrella. >> i don't think so. it is so spotty. sometimes looks can be deceiving on the radar. this will come through with spits throughout the day and is there a good shot you will only see a drop. it is not perfect parade weather but not bad. we have had clouds rolling this because this system was coming our way. it will do us a solid, it is not too harsh outside.

we will talk about novas it stand so far we are not completely with the month yet but we have seen an above average month so far. we will level off and see pretty average temperatures to round out the month in the next few days. rain, that is something we could use even though system coming in will not produce much. we could use a good soaking rain. high temperature we will hit with seven two bottomed out just a few mornings ago. here's a little more localized look at storm scan. we are still dry, just seeing cloud but this is part of the larger system that will be credits go through with time here today. again allow for scattered showers here and there anytime, is it a tell luge? far from it. it will be with us throughout the day. forty-one at the airport. quite the variety pack. below freezing in hunt pocono. if you have a little fine drizzle or light shower that comes in up that way it could even freeze, on contact, and another hiccups that may slow you down. watch out for possibility of minor slick travel. thirty-seven down at the shore. we expect to here in the city

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live at the start of the parade route, good morning, jan. >> reporter: things are coming to life at the start of the thanksgiving parade at 20th and jfk boulevard. you can see a number of these magnificent giant balloons are inflated. crews start inflating these balloons at 5:00 this morning. up front we have a children's book character, called olivia, followed up by a trex and i think olivia is a dangling car on the for him this morning, a little missing from her regular but behind that down the line we have a couple of

favorites. we have the grinch. we also have mr. powe tait the owe head. this is a small sample of all of the great characters that kid, tam list will be able to see to take. take a look, this is the parade route, it starts here at 20th and jfk, all of these balloons, floats will move east until 16th street. they will all turn north then on the ben franklin parkway and end up in front of the art hugh seem and eakins oval for a number of live performances from local groups and celebrities alike, a lot of really great activity, and performances to see today. but again this got started really early in the morning. take a look at the video. you can see many volunteers out here helping to get these balloons, inflated, and it is an intricate dance, they have to pull certain ways to make sure everything gets inflated. olivia had to be taken town once to inn that it the ears, and some have of these people have been out here as early as 3:30 this morning. they are all crossing their

fingers to make ate long this 1.4 hyle parade route without any glitches, lets take a listen. >> i'm looking foreseeing the kids and watching my teen with the balloons. i can't wait to see them caught up in it. hopefully i'm in the the one that gets caught up in it. >> reporter: there are a bit of nerves. a lot of excitement. some people have been here for years. i spoke to a group of would hand from south jersey who grew up here in center city saying they grew up watching wanting to be a part so they decided to come out and volunteer to be handlers of the the tweetie bird balloon a lot of great activity, a lot more volunteers and performers arriving. i see more out of the corn other have my eye. so the parade starts at 8:30, runs through a lot of the fun to be had and don't miss santa claus, you guys, back inside to you, rahel and joe in the studio. >> can't miss santa claus. >> jan carabao thank you for that live report.

macy's thanksgiving parade. >> correspondent jamie yuccas is live along the parade route and she tells us how police are working to keep everybody safe, good morning, jamie. >> reporter: good morning. i want to to show you what is happening. within the last 15 minutes or so we have a float, giant turkey will kick off the parade here on thanksgiving day but real people have been gearing up since last years parade at end of the last years parade, nypd, there are more than 3,000 office are here today to make sure everybody stays safe. members of the new york's finest began taking position along central park west overnight. gearing up to protect millions of spectators expected at thanksgiving day parade. >> nypd is going to mount an even stronger operation this year. >> reporter: new york city mayor bill deblasio detailed

we're finding out here. let me show you what is happening on storm scan. not a heck of a lot. with that said we will go far enough north in northampton county, monroe county, we have seen very, very windy showers coming through. it looks like snow flakes but it the is more than anything potential for some rain to fall and freeze, on contact, so maybe some slick travel up that way. eventually the rest of us will eke out a couple scattered showers. here's where we stan, 41 at the airport and 30's around the rest of the region say for a couple spots cooler or milder. of course, we have thanksgiving day parade, underway in a couple hours. 42 degrees. right around 8:30 at kick off of the parade. as we are heading back to the car to head home and enjoying a nice turkey dinner, 47 degrees with a spotty shower but we are expecting to top off at 53 later on this afternoon which is pretty much, dead on with where we should be for standard of in 24th and again, a couple showers along the way, guys, back to you. >> katie, thanks very much.

it is a philadelphia tradition annual thanksgiving day parade in the 97th year. >> thousands will line up to see marching band, balloons and floats headache their way through the city. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live along the parade route. happy thanksgiving, good morning. >> reporter: hello rahel and joe, happy thanksgiving, good morning. we are at the start of the parade route at jfk and 20th street. easy to to see why this is a fan favorite and why it has been going for 97 years. this is oldest thanksgiving day parade in the entire country. you can see magnificent balloons inflated this morning. crews got out here at 5:00 a.m. to start work and take a small army to get everything done. you can see fan favorite in there, we're talking about tweetie bird, cat in the hat, mr. potato head and more. mr. potato head was obscured by a turkey but you have to have a turkey on thanksgiving day. this is how you can get a best

view of these floats, balloons and these performers when they getting around 8:30 this morning. everyone will make their way along 1.4-mile route, parade first travels east there jfk and 20th street to 16th street and then north on the parkway and finally ending at art hugh seem and eakins oval. with everyone wrapping up performance at noon. we have a full day ahead on the parade but it takes a small army to get this parade off the ground. balloon handlers we have spoken to arrived very early in the morning even before 5:00 a.m., many grew up watching festivities and decided to make new memories by volunteering, this parade is also featuring balloons, there are wonderful floats arriving and performances, we will see local groups, national groups, as well, one of the biggest high school marching band in alabama were 400 plus members is already out and about this morning, lets take a listen. >> we have 400 plus in our group. it is like the biggest high school band in alabama.
