be ready for your usual backups, at the traffic center, amanda mueller, jan, back to you. >> thank you. new this morning, authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in the cobbs creek section of west philadelphia. fire department responded to the 5,000 block every walnut st. just before 3:30 this morning, the building evacuated and no one injured. also, new this morning, police are investigating a hit-and-run in west philadelphia. police tell us driver slammed into ambulance and took off. this happened before 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of 64th and haverford avenue. the driver did not stay at the scene, fortunately no one inside of the ambulance was hurt investigators are looking for a light colored sedan. >> suspect wanted for sexual assault and attempted murder custody but the investigation far from over. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live at camden county police headquarters this morning, with the details

trang? >> have found they had a could link andre wesley to similar attacks on women in the area. camden county prosecutor office is helping with that investigation. but, police right now, just very grateful, that they say this extremely dangerous preditor is off the street after very tends stand-off with officers last night. what we know now friday police release that andre wesley is the suspect in this violent sexual assault that happened last sunday night. now, the victim told police, that an armed man forced her into a white van, at the intersection of broadway and pine in camden, she says he then drove her to nearby lot next to abandoned building where he sexually assaulted her, and brutally beat her. friday night, officers went to wesley's willingboro home, and please had to use a taster to subdue him. tens stand-off situation with officers on scene, officers de escalated the situation.

he was provoking the officers trying to get them to shoot him officers exercising extreme restraint, bolt our officers and officers from the willingboro police department. and, camden county police chief scott thompson says that wesley is a tear one registered sex offender, who was out on parole. his bail in this case is set at $2 million. but for now live from camden county police headquarters, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", back to you, jan. >> trang, thank you. philadelphia police want your help to find a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint, in northern liberties. take a lock at this surveillance video, watch as the suspect approaches from behind. police say he grabbed a woman, pointed a gun to her head, and took off with her purse. this happened tuesday night in the had hundred block of north third street. the victim was not injured. >> man rushed to the hospital after he is pulled from burning home in west oaklane. firefighters found this man in his 60s, on the second floor of his home on the 7600 block

every gilbert street. he suffered smoke inhalation, and did not have any vital signs when firefighters got to him. one firefighter, also suffered a minor injury, and investigators are trying to figure out what sparked this fire. meantime, funeral a rangments set for wilmington firefighters ardie hope. viewing will take place at the chase center next saturday 10:00 a.m. folds by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. the 20 year veteran died thursday, from injuries suffered in a house fire back on september 24th. authorities say the fire that also killed lieutenant jerry, and captain christopher leach was intentionally set by bee trees ruiz, fire chief anthony good told us he -- told us hope leaves behind an important legacy. >> ardie's first female wfd line every duty death in the history and only second after the american line every duty death following my fire, lieutenant james good junior. >> hope's fiancee also spoke to "eyewitness news", he tells

during a argument at an intersection near new orleans on thursday. the jefferson county sheriff is facing criticism for releasing him from jail, but he says the law allows gasor to be freed. he also urged the public not to rush to judgement. >> this investigation is not going to be mute, influenced, coerced, changed, in anyway, by any external force, comment, or otherwise. >> now, mcknight played for the new york jet, and the kansas city chiefs during his nfl career. >> deliberations will resume monday morning in the murder trial of a former south carolina cop. yesterday, a jury told a judge, they were dead-locked after deliberating for less than three days. michael playing err is being tried tore murder in the april 2015 shooting death of walter scott. cell phone video captured

coming in at about 32 days, that's typically our coldest time period, early january, that's the lowest we see our average high temperature. which is 40. just clouds mixed with few breaks of clouds through the south and east every us, so clear currently at the jersey shore in delaware, overall partly sunny, skies for the afternoon, maybe stray flurry early this morning, up in the poconos, so those wind gusts near 30, mount pocono and allentown, we showed that you bethlehem camera, flags blowing, winds start increasing throughout the entire region this morning. winds gusting to near 30. so, windy, sunny day today, temperatures generally holding in the four's, knock off about 10 degrees, when you factor in the wind. that's what it really feels like this afternoon. and then tomorrow, overall, quiet day, high pressure in control, the winds backs off, clouds just thicken up throughout the day. temperatures little cooler than average, mid and upper 40's, monday, right near 50 degrees, maybe stray shower, in the morning, before our next larger storm system moves in for tuesday. bringing another rounds of some needed rain to the

region. not much happening today. again, clouds mix, with some sunshine, tonight, looks pretty good if you have plans, headed out around town across the region. little chilly waking up temperatures in the 20's in a lot of suburbs tomorrow morning. so sunday morning, we start off with a lot of sunshine, the clouds start to increase, from the southwest to northeast, but we stay dry. no issues tomorrow. all right, temperature wise today, close to 50 this afternoon. around philadelphia, surrounding suburbs, part of south jersey, the region is the winds off shore. so areas, and we get the influence from the cool atlantic oceanment tonight the clocks already well down in the 30's. a lot of 20's in the suburbs, early sunday morning, and then with the sunshine back out sunday afternoon, still cool though, mid and upper 50s for afternoon temperatures. we check out the overall pattern. nothing out of the orders area for the next new days, jet stream kind of flat. so cool. not too warm. all of the warm stays to the south. watch what happens. starting on wednesday, little bit of bump in the jet stream. usually you get the warmth through the east, it means

week. senior firefighter artist hope died from her injuries she suffered in a fire few month ago. the funeral will be next saturday, at 1:00 at the chase center on the riverfront. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt talks to the community now mourning her lost, including her fiancee. >> the sound every chimes blanketed quiet wilmington street where ardie hope lives. her fiancee would soon over shadow with pain. >> she was great woman. she was the best thing that ever happened to my life. >> derrick edmonds devestated when he learned the love of his life, ardie hope, died after fighting for two month, following this wilmington fire in september. right now my mind is just so worried about the children. >> edmond says ardie had three girls, and he's close to all every them, came into their lives four years ago, he and ardie were engaged last year, and was ready to celebrate her retirement from the department

next month. >> she was just finishing school, had plans to be a nurse. >> every day i watched ardie go out and tried to save lives. >> got this call about a fire in wilmington, two of her colleagues, died from that fire. ardie held on in a local hospital. >> we love ardie hope, we will always remember her. and maintain her honor. >> charges charge ruiz with setting the fire and killing both firefighters. charges are expected to be upgraded to include the death of ardie hope. >> you took a wonderful woman that was a friends to a whole community. >> chief good said there will be former procession honoring firefighter hope in the coming days, vice president joe biden, has been in touch with ardie hope's family. reporting from wilmington, david spunt, cbs-3, "eyewitness news".

new developments in the murder case against former wrestler, jimmy super fly snuka in lehigh county. yesterday his attorney told the court he only has six months to live. snuka appeared in court via face time from florida during competency hearing in allentown, six months ago the judge ruled spike a was mentally inch kent to stand trial in the death of his girlfriend, defense says the 73 year old suffers from stomach cancer and dementia. but the prosecution argues snuka may be faking memory loss symptoms. montgomery county detective are making a plea to help solve a cold case, 23 years after a young woman's murder. julie's body found at the lansdale septa conrail yard 23 years ago yesterday. the 18 year old was taking the train from philadelphia, before she disappeared, her body was found three weeks later. there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to her killer. the camden county police department is trying to return stolen items to their rightful

rolling on through, the trends today, overall call it partly sunny skies, so that increasing winds, gust to go near 30 miles per hour in the afternoon. all right, let's talk about some colder air that we typically deal with for the middle of december. and this is typically when we have our average. so the average first high freezing, here in philadelphia, usually happens around december 18th. same deal with lows in the upper teens, 19 degrees or colder, so usually mid month where we get the true wintertime feel to our region, and then our america objectionable snowfall, average first, september 12th, philadelphia, and inch or more toward late december on the 24th. and we are going to move into colder pattern over the next couple of weeks. so may holdup. have to wait and see. clouds over us, few lake effect snow showers, not really casting a problem to anyone. other than that, quiet conditions across the mid-atlantic, travel conditions, up and down the east coast. really our next major storm, holds off, until next week, on tuesday. windy today. the reason, we have storm

system exiting the region. strengthening, low pressure, we have high pressure building back in. so, it is that pressure difference, which is causing the winds. so when you are stuck between those two systems, you get the stronger winds flow. atmosphere just wants to balance itself out. and that's what it is doing, just blowing the winds across the region, the winds, will die down later on tonight, so really just today. gusts, near 30 miles per hour through the morning into the afternoon, over a lot of locations, start decreasing into the evening hours, gusts less than 20. by around 8:00, 9:00. tomorrow much quieter conditions as far as the wind goes. high pressure starts to builds in across the mid-atlantic over the next 24 hours, that locks us in to the dry pattern. sunday we start off with some sun, clouds start thickening up later during the day, one weak disturbance tries to move through, maybe stray shower, or even flurry in the poconos, early monday morning. other than that, partly sunny skies, then our next larger system holds off until tuesday. it will bring milder air with some rain. specially on tuesday afternoon. good thing, we can use some more rain across the region. highs today near average.
