and traffic with katie and meisha. >> yeah, it is wednesday our hump day, getting over the hump together. i can tell you that the roadways are nice and wet for you. not good. >> yes. >> okay. so it is going to be another slow commute just ahead up. >> at least initially. i think with time we will see things drying out pretty nicely. i know road spray is an issue out there because we had so much rain, rolling through last night but we saw from wider screen on storm scan, we have it wrapping up. we might have have left over, again, spray from the vehicles and that type of thing and chill set nothing as well but in terms of what that system had it up its sleeves it is winding down and we are fining lesson storm scan will have a very tough time even hitting the ground right now. so, with that said, expect that we are going to start to clear out, with time, words to mention winter weather advisory in the poconos, that

it usually does. the westbound side usually opens up quicker then eastbound side. but you can see, just that sheen on the roadway. when i was driving in rather, it was kicking up off the windshield and it was wet all over. it is still wet. ben franklin bridge moving in the westbound direction in center city looking dark, quiet, gorgeous as it does in the 4:00 o'clock hour. forty-two freeway, you can see moving in the northbound direction quiet there and schuylkill at syringe garden is what we are looking at. we have an accident in new jersey, new jersey turnpike northbound we will talk about that coming up in ten minutes, rahel, over to you. >> thank you. death toll in indonesia rises to 97 after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake shakes the nation. officials say dozens of buildings collapsed touring yesterday's quake, and they fear people may be trapped under the ruble. rescue crews are working as fast as they can to dig through in search of survivors. this is same area that was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami in 2004, but no tsunami warning has been issued. police are on the hunt for a thief who snatched a woman's

purse right out of her car in the middle of the south philadelphia parking lot. >> take a look at this surveillance video around 12:30 sunday afternoon when police say man you see here, stole a woman's hand bag. forty-six year-old victim tried to stop the thief but was then dragged, as he sped off. >> i'm surprised to see it in the parking lot but not as surprised, as one of these things, you know, times change, things are getting hard. >> i come here to work, and something like that happens, it is, it just doesn't only affect me but it effects the people coming in, they will be afraid to come in here. that might scare some people away. >> reporter: anyone with any information is asked to call the philadelphia police. and philadelphia police make an arrest in the murder of a northeast high school freshman, 14 year-old iain wilsey was fatally shot of rouse avenue in mayfair. he was walking to a corner store with a friend for snacks. police say a 19 year-old man wanted in connection with the

murder surrendered yesterday. charges are still pending. we are learning more information about the new jersey state trooper killed in the head on crash on route 55. it happened, monday night in millville, cumberland county. officials say troop are frankie williams was responding to a call, when lloyd ridley of elmer, crossed the median and slammed into williams. he was pronounced dead at the scene. trooper williams died at cooper hospital. williams was on the job less than a year graduating from the academy in january. >> he was all excited he was going to be a state trooper and this was his dream come true. he had been working at lowes. he went to rutgers. got his degree. this is what he wanted to do. >> it is not known why he crossed the median. trooper williams leaves behind a wife. happening today a philadelphia police officer nearly killed on the job is being honored for his bravery. officer jesse hartnett will receive the department's sergeant robert wilson valor award. hartnett you may remember was shot several times during an

ambush in his patrol car this cobbs creek last january. he managed to shoot the suspect after he was shot. dozens of other officers will also be recognized for their bravery and heroism at the award ceremony. vice-president joe biden is returning to his alma matter this morning and will deliver remarks at inauguration of the university of delaware's, 28th president janice yousonis.

last night he appeared the late show with steve up colbert here on cbs-3. the vice-president says he had no regrets about his decision not to run for the white house after the death of his son beau last year. he also, backed away from monday's remarks that he would run for president in 2020. >> well, i have been a great respecter of fate. i don't plan on running again but to say you know what will happen in four years, i just think is not rational. >> that is a sound of the door creaking open is what that is. >> well, look, i cannot see circumstances in which i run but what i have learned a long, long time ago steven is to never say never. you don't know what will happen. >> so apparently everything is on the table still. biden says in four years he will be 77, but he says, in better shape than donald trump. president-elect trump meets without going north carolina governor pat mcrory at trump tower as he continues to fill jobs in his administration. meeting comes a day after mr. trump traveled to fey yetville for second stop of his thank you tour. he vows to make america safer with the help of his choice for defense secretary, retired marine general, james mattis. would the man who helped lead donald trump to a presidential election victory will be the grand marshall for hammington fire department's christmas day parade. kelly ann conway grew up in camden county but attended st. joseph's in hammington. parade begins at bellevue avenue this saturday at

7:00 in the evening. and happening today philadelphia is helping drexel university celebrate its 125th anniversary. at the university's colors, later the university will show off a time capsule which will include a piece of drexel's basketball court and dad vail regatta gold medal. ceremony is at the 1:00 at drexel's main building as you tore yum. temple university has a job opening, football coach matt rhule is leaving owls forehead coaching job at baylor university. rhule's top 25 team and champions of the american athletic conference. he has also led owls to 20 wins over last two seasons, the best two season stretch in school history. but baylor is in the big 12 and that will allow rhule to compete at highest level of collegiate sports. >> i just said i wanted him to make the right decision for his family and for him. i thanked him for all he did for this program and i said i

today veterans and survivors of the attack will gather at pearl harbor to honor the 2400 americans who died on what president franklin roosevelt called a date which will live in infamy. trial of the accused charleston south carolina church shooter dylann roofies set to begin today. >> roof stands accused of stilling nine mens of the emmanuel ame church last year and faces a possible death sentence in the case. >> authorities in oakland california have declared a local state of emergency following the cities response to the deadly warehouse fire there. fire crews have recovered at least 36 victims from the burned out structure so far and have positively identified all but one of them. federal investigators are looking into whether a refrigerator started the fire. and police in cherry hill need your help identifying the suspect in the brazen atm robbery. >> take a look at this, a man is accused of robbing a woman at atm at navy federal credit union on route 38 monday night. the victim was able to fight off her robber but he managed

to grab some of her money. you're asked to call cherry hill police if you can identify the man on that screen there. police in bethlehem are looking for, this woman here, she's accused of stealing the baby jesus statue, from the nativity scene outside city plaza. police found the stolen statue on sunday with the note, they say didn't make any sense. they are still looking for the woman. they think she's driving a dark colored car, possibly a saturn. and in illinois more than a dozen students are sick after eating tainted, gummy bears. authorities say that the 14 students at neighborville north high school ate gummy bears laced with drugs. the students were dizzy, had elevated heart rates. police say it appears they got gummy bears from a 17 year-old student who is said to be speaking with investigators. scary story. 4:44. >> katie's here with another check the of the forecast. heavy walk out this morning it was still wet but it is moving out.

>> it is starting to exit off to the north and east at this point, guys. we certainly were over achievers in some spots when it came to the snow. this is a live look here, a loop rather in the last couple of minutes from blue mountain, kind of hazy but you can tell obviously that there has been some snow in the area which at this point is again, winding down, and we were talking about the possibility of two to 4 inches locally of some snow, yeah, mount pocono well done you, 5 inches fell in that location. long pond two and a half. two and a half at stroudberg and we had an inch from lehigh down to ephrata. but the storm system is moving on out, at this point. i'm taking you all into a 18 hour loop as we look at this so yesterday afternoon, notice your time as it rolls along here. this is what ended up happening. we had soaking rain and some pretty good moisture up across the poconos where it was cold enough to produce snow. now we are left with this, quiet. it is starting to taper off completely, you really just at

looking at one of the areas i will keep my eye on all morning long and you can already see how many of your neighbors are already out there on i-95. good indication it will get busy. we have an accident new jersey turnpike northbound before 195 that right outer lane is blocked and another one rock hill road at conshohocken state road. two accidents letting us know it might be a busy drive this morning. also, construction delaware memorial bridge northbound only one right lane is opened, this is going to be between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and this will go through thursday. we have a lot of construction including this 195 northbound, at ramp to delaware after knew it is closed until december 12th. we will talk about a lot more that is going on in ten or 15 minutes. joe and rahel back to you. well, still ahead on "eyewitness news" this morning free coffee, do we have your attention. >> meisha johnson are you listening. >> yes. >> we will tell you about a promotion back for the holiday season, up

welcome back everyone. good morning to you. today will be a day of transition, it should end up being a little milder then yesterday was, interestingly enough but we had a lot of cloud cover overhead through the overnight and we still do many spots and cooling that is taking effect here this morning. obviously there are some lingering showers, those should continue to dwindle over the next couple of hours. as they do we will end up with the next story to look ahead

to here in the weather department and that is arctic chill that is about to settle in. it is not today. we will catch a break here today with temperatures in the 50's but by tomorrow, we will see this arctic coal front coming through, not a ton of moisture with it, it is going to bring in a shower, rain or snow tomorrow but that is it. more than thinking, temperature difference is what really will be noticeable at best if you are lucky you will hit 40 degrees on friday, saturday and friday, meisha wind chill becomes something that you have to factor in as well. >> yes, time to pack gloves, and the hats, car, all right, katie, thanks very much. we are looking outside, very dark out there, you have got slippery conditions just because it is still wet out there. we have an accident schuylkill westbound near south street and this is not first one this morning. it is blocking that left lane and not to mention we have people out of their vehicles walking around. this could potentially be a dangerous situation, very dark, take a look, this truck just came up and had to swerve around this people and this
