coming in the next 24 hours. and the mercury will start plunging, it this. good afternoon everyone i'm rahel solomon. i'm jim donovan. we are looking at temperatures not higher then 20's and before the bitter blast moves in meteorologist katie fehlinger is live on the cbs-3 skies deck enjoying warmth of the sun while it lasts, katie. >> indeed, even though we'll sun next few days, jim and rahel, it is not going to help too much. we have a very significant blast of cold that waits in the wings, starting to cross over the united states border from the depths of the arctic and it is scheduled to arrive here starting thomas you mentioned. for now it is not too bad, i don't want to say balmy day but pretty typical day very tame in terms of the weather pattern. we have bright sunshine. feels confidentable outside not terribly breezy, and storm scan is empty. we will see nice and quiet out there on the radar and satellite but let me show you what the rest of the day has up its sleeves. lower 40's here, just generally sunshine we will top

off in the 20's in the poke these but for this time of the year it is mid december and not all that atypical. here's the thing here's what it teams like. it is a mild breeze out here right now feels shore like mid 30's. take a look at what it feels like when you look at depths of central canada yuck. feeling more like well, below zero. now that is a taste of what is heading our way, and it will tart to move in, again as early as tomorrow but coldest timetable is friday morning. the lets look at this. forecasted early morning low is 14 degrees, and we have not experienced cold like that, in exactly, ten months. so, guys, we can handle this kind of cold not like we have ever seen it before but it has been a long time. we will talk about that snow chance later on. >> reporter: thanks very much, katie. we are coming inside here, temple owls welcoming a new head coach, florida defensive coordinator geoff collins takes on the role as head coach for the first time in his career. anchor don bell, live from temple's liacouras center where the coach was just introduced, don. >> reporter: good afternoon, jim. festive environment here at liacouras center where geoff collins met with the philadelphia media for very first time. we're in the conference room here of of 100 members, of the media, and members of the football team here, listening to geoff collins speak. and this is first time since becoming a head coach in his career. he is 45 years old, he was here with his wife, infant child, we plan to speak to him in 15 minutes or so live here in this program, but i want to tell you more about geoff collins. he spoke with passion. he was looking forward to embracing cherry and white and culture here in philadelphia he was originally from atlanta , georgia. one of the things he mentioned he is a fan of the pressure where a lot of people are tend to go shy away, he wants pressure. this team has won ten games in back to back seasons. the this is most successful

that the temple owls has ever been, and he is looking forward to embracing that will challenge and continuing it. one of the things we have learned that he is, good friends with former temple coach, matt rhule in fact they have a relationship that goes back 18 to 20 years. you can expect new head coach geoff collins knows a whole lot about this program. again, don bell coming to you live from the liacouras center in ten minutes or so we expect to talk to the head coach live and come back with his comments. for now, we will send it back to you in the studio. >> all right, don, thank you. comedian bill cosby is back in court this morning one day after a fiery pretrial hearing. the prosecution is trying to allow 13 women to testify against cosby at trial. all of them say they were sexually assaulted by comedian in the past. district attorney kevin steel argued that the testimony shows cosby has a life long pattern of assaulting young woman. the cosby's lawyers call the motion absurd, and claimed to

quote a band wagon put together in pandora's box. early recess was called, in cosby's hearing as montgomery county courthouse held their yearly holiday party. arguments in the courtroom were halted because court choir was due to sing on the steps leading up to the courtroom. according to the the court administrator the show must go on. we will keep you posted on "eyewitness news" starting at 5:00. in other news new castle police arrested a woman for hit and run that injured a 12 year-old boy. five five-year old marcia williams has been arrested in connection to that incident on december 5th, according to police williams turned herself in tuesday morning. she was charged with leaving the scene of a collision and failure to report a collision. well, philadelphia police are searching for an armed, dangerous robber in feltonvill this video shows suspect entering the double deli on rose hill street saturday afternoon. he shot the clerk, and then ran off with money and lottery tickets. well, on sunday evening the

same suspect walked into a their by corner store, shot the store employee in the leg and stole money. both employees are expect to be okay. if you recognize the man in this surveillance video you are asked to call the police. well, flames broke out at a home in gloucester county this morning. chopper three was over the smokey scene in clayton, new jersey around 6:30 a.m. right now we have no word on any injuries or a cause. president-elect donald trump is starting the public push for his secretary of state, but some in congress say, that they have concerns. but first mr. trump will focus on high tech jobs today when he host summit with leaders of the companies such as google, taste book and amazon. cbs reporter kenneth craig has the latest now from washington >> merry christmas. merry christmas. >> reporter: president-elect donald trump had a little christmas cheer as he taughted his pick to be secretary of the state. mr. trump says rex tillerson's relationship with world leaders such as russian president vladamire putin is an asset. >> rex is friendly with many

that it was transporting which forced some to evacuate their homes. accident happened on interstate 24, and at this point there have been in report of any injuries. fire fighters in las vegas are trying to get a massive fire under control, fire broke out near desert inn in peak owes around 3:00 to this morning. it is unclear if anybody was inside at the time of the fire and if there are any injuries at this point. it is believed building is a nevada energy dispatch center which has been closed for years. still ahead on "eyewitness news". >> pennsylvania's first snowfall we will take you where keystone state is digging out, katie. certainly not here just yet but we are going to be dealing with a storm system this weekend, folks and that does come with an increase on the thermometer. so that means even though we start off with maybe wintry mixing on saturday morning, it will eventually turn over to rain and that rain chance continues into sunday. look at those temperatures we will go from the 40's to the 50's but that is not where we will be for next few days, arctic blast to tell you about

trying to get my talking points ready to meet with the team. just to be head coach of this great university and great group of guys i'm fired up about. >> in the press conference you said you had six to eight mountain dews in you to keep you wired up here and excited about what is going on today. listen, what is your first move, to get ready. >> big thing is sitting down, i want to meet with everybody in the building, meet the with the players, even outing seniors, find out the things that are different, factors from everybody else in this league. what makes temple temple, what has made us, win back to back championships what made us win the conference, and then find out, what are three things from each kid that we can do to take it the to the next level. i think having that insight would be huge. >> what was your major selling point. >> just meeting the people. i know people say that all the time, but it is real. i met the people here, you know, they talked about this great place and then looked in the kid eyes, you can feel it.

weather conditions may not be too far down the road yet either. on that note. >> it feels like a transition. >> katie fehlinger. >> what i will say is that we're likely going to see some snow, saturday morning specifically but it will turn over to rain. >> okay. >> even in the mountains. talk about how we will get there. we will talk about this winter chill and arctic chill we will see enough cold air in place by saturday to support that but there is a lot of movement this is one of those see saw ing type forecast is where we have a lot of ups and downs and couple of systems that will work their way through. first and foremost arctic cold front to send us on this nose dive. lets back it up to get you outside, hitting the road here get a sense of what the weather is to go right the now we have you covered as well and it looks beautiful, nice, bright, sunny, we are at 4 degrees outside kutztown area middle school and we're going to see temperatures across the region not even hit

this value in the next few days and that includes the urban corridor. this is balmy by comparison to what is coming. savior that, right or just take that and let that marinate for a he can is. looking at the nationwide map there is not a lot going on. you can see cloud tracing this latest cold front but draw your focus to this next storm system in the inner mountain west, northern california, oregon that will cross out of the rookies, blossom in the next big thing and we are going to see it move in friday night into saturday as a warm front but before it gets here we have this arctic cold front that comes in. so again here comes to this warm front bringing with it initially snow, probably ice, eventually turning over to rain as temperatures climb in the 40's but let's also talk about how much snow we could see before that happens. we will jump to the weekend and it would be specifically saturday, now there is a possibility since this all changes from snow and ice to rain from south to north you

will likely end up with a few inches of accumulation here, possibly three to 6 inches worth. this is one model interpretationtation so not gospel but general guide as to what you will fine. lehigh valley, poconos has best chance to see any kind of significant accumulation. but way we get there is from this next cold front that comes in tomorrow and that will carve out a nice dig in the jet stream to bring core of cold air right over the delaware valley. it is clipping our region here down near the shore it is not as harsh but thursday and friday 15 to 20 degrees below seasonal average. factor in the wind this is vicious stuff, we just haven't seen it in a while. bundle up, adequately especially friday morning in the city, it feels more like anywhere from five to as cold as a goose egg, 0 degrees and far enough north and west it will feel colder then that. let me show you how rest of the the forecast pans out because there is detail here, we're talking 20's at best
