a gross forecast. >> good word to describe it. >> at least it warms up sunday. good morning, looking at the roadways, starting with i95 southbound, as you head for the city, see cones right here, traffic still moving, at an eastern clip, good thing, but as go through this area, you will see the cones, and there is some construction off to the left side. they've just moved the barrier away. they've been working on this forever, so keep ion that, not slowing things down just yet. and it shouldn't for the rush hour when it picks up here on a friday. vine not yet open. should open within moments. i would think as this is your normal protocol over night, as the cameras seems to be flicking out. we will move on. water main break on route 70 eastbound, past i-295, we will be keeping an eye on this all morning, has the left lane blocked, use the white horse pike. also construction in pennsylvania, pa turnpike westbound before downingtown, right lane blocked there. and southbound on the northeast extension between lehigh valley and quakertown, right lane blocked there, as well.

jim, jan, over to you. >> thank you, pat. man is robbed at gunpoint, as his three attackers take off. they shoot at police, and almost get away. >> "eyewitness news" reporter, anita oh, liver from the scene, where the ordeal came to an end. and anita, good morning. >> good morning, jim, jan, busy morning for police here. those three teenage suspects are now in custody after police say they robbed a man at gunpoint of both his cell phone and cash. one of them also reportedly fired a shot at police after fleeing the scene. but, luckily, no one was hurt. now this all happened around 1:30 this morning, at lawndale and luzern streets, we can show you some video of the scene, now, that's when police say the suspect robbed the 21 year old man, they then fled the scene in a dark pick-up truck, which police tried to pull over shortly after. but when 24th district officers tried to approach the car it sped off. police pursued them for about a minute before losing site of them. minute later the suspect parked on the highway near rockland, started running through an alley near the

boulevard and rising sun avenue. that's where shots rang out. >> police found a semiautomatic handgun. it was loaded. they also found a spent shell casing in the rear alley from the shots that were fired at police. so this time the weapon is recovered. the vehicle is still being held at front and rockland. >> reporter: and they are checking that vehicle for fingerprints. now, those suspects are 17, 18, and 19 years old. they're being held at east detective. live in feltonville, anita oh, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thank you, anita. new this morning, police involved crash in south philadelphia. authorities say it happened on broad street and snyder avenue, just before 2:30 a.m. two officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the man authorities say shot a folcroft police officer multiple times back in june is due in court today. thirty-three year old dante brooks island fired seven shots at officer christopher

dorman. dorman was responding to call of a drug deal in the 1500 block every elmwood avenue in folcroft. after three hour manhunt, island was found in an apartment in the same block. islands is charged with two counts of attempted murder and other charges. >> well, president-elect donald trump is in orlando today, as he continues his post-election thank you tour. thousands waited in very cold weather outside of the giant center in hershey to see mr. trump and vice president elect, mike pence, mr. trump continued to refuse cia's suggestion that vladmeere putin direct role in hacking democratic national committee emails. he had encouraging words for the crowd, and they shared praise for him. >> your desires, your homes, your aspirations will never again fall on deaf ears. the forgotten men and women of our country will not be forgotten any more. remember that. >> i think he is got it fair and square, and i think it is

jerusalem. brook silva bragga, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> new jersey governor chris christie proposed tell-all book may include details about his role in the trump transition. on thursday, both houses of the legislature considered controversial bills to change state law. it would allow governors to profit book deals while still in office. also in the bills are a list of proposed salary raises for judges, prosecutors, and other public workers. >> i personally have no issue with the governor writing a book, whether this governor, next governor. >> it is being rushed through, it is a little smoke and dagger, waiving on the agenda late tuesday, had a here both houses, in the middle of the holiday season when the public really doesn't have a chance to be weighing in. >> we are told the bills have bipartisan support. lawmakers could vote on them as early as monday. >> well, in other news, men swimming and diving season at princeton university has been suspended, school made the move after learning about items on the team's list as

having gar, racist, school lead letters decide in the next few days what to do the team's remaining meets. a student at randolph technical high school is in trouble after he has been accused of bringing loaded gun to the school in nicetown. police arrested the student after they found the gun in his back pack as he went through metal detector. school was briefly put on lockdown while police investigated. no one was hurt. they've not released that student's name. >> and still ahead here on "eyewitness news", dangerous situation comes to a halt. >> it is all thanks to quick response from officers nearby. >> student with a gun ... >> that was earlier this month, as police received calls for a student with a gun at a junior high. >> this officer arrived to find a boy dressed in all black, pinned against the wall by his own parents. the 15 year old came to school with ammo and several guns. police were called after he

fired a shot into the ceiling of his science class. the boy has since been charged with several felonies. thankfully, no one was hurt. a south carolina jury convicts roof of last year's massacre at church in charleston, killing nine black church members. he was found guilty of all 33 counts yesterday including hate crimes and obstruction every justice. it took less than two hours for the jurors to reach their verdict. the same jury will decide next month if roof is sentenced to death for life in prison. >> and, the delaware supreme court vacated the death sentence of the convicted killer of a police officer. georgetown police officer, tad spicer, gunned down by derrick powell in 2009. the court inch sal dated the death penalty law back in august, the justices ruled their decision must be applied for pro-actively. yesterday's decision means powell and 11 other former death row inmate will now serve life in prison. well, we are not the only ones dealing with this early

>> the philadelphia region isn't the only area experiencing early winter weather. this was the mess yesterday on interstate 80 in western pennsylvania. fifty-nine cars and trucks got tangled up in a crash on the snowy highway. three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. so scary. and the snow squawl and ice caused a dangerous chain reaction crash with more than two dozen vehicles in long island. a mini school bus overturned, a tractor-trailer jackknifed, and cars crashed into guardrails. six were transported to local hospitals. that's the ice that freaks me out. you can't see it, and these

crazy people are driving on i59 or the schuylkill. >> over the speed limit. >> exactly. >> and the other thing, too, there are so many curves to get around. not like a straight shot. you know, you have got that classic conshy can you do you have get around, and all over the rest of the region, as women. so many it, can be treacherous. and i'm glad you brought up the ice thing. we will talk little more specifically about that, in this particular weather report. but, let's just start it off, by talking about the obvious, the cold, now, it could always be worse. here in philly right now, 16. granted it feels more like 3 degrees or so. but, in shy town, it is actually 11 right now. seven in minneapolis, five in fargo, north dakota, and the actual air temperature in international falls, 11 below. ya, it could be worse, okay? but, with that said, i know it is pretty already shall outside. dow still want you to be bundle up adequately walking out the door, try to limit your time outside if you k granted i know the postal workers, the trash collectors, guys out on construction, we

so appreciate what do you in this kind of cold. because it is a tough job battling these element. but at least dry. warmfront lifted, how much, by tomorrow. i have to show you the wide zoom, all the way out to nationwide to gave you a sense of the scope of the storm. also, snow coming out in advance of this, but we are going to see warmfront lift in, starting, i would say, about 1:00 in the morning or so, tomorrow. and that will be specially true for the far northern counties. so, line from berks, out to maybe bucks county, even clipping montgomery county, on north, you will see snow first, further south you are, you may actually not even end up with any flakes of snow out there. this is a good synopsis of what you will find. pick your region and pick out what you are going to find here. let's focus on the citiment generally talking inch of snow or less. then it turns over to quick mix every ice, then eventually some rain. by the in the morning, then just rain. but let's look at these future ice amounts. remember, it does not take much. you just need thin glaze. even if we only ends up with

this, though, not so good. fire, between wharton and baltimore avenue, all lanes blocked right there, the alternate is 63rd street. so keep an eye on that area out west, philly, also water main break, we've been keeping an eye on there is route 70 eastbound past 295, left lane block there. keep an eye. maybe some icy conditions out there on route 70 this morning. and mlk drive, keep an eye on this, inbound, it flows between sweet briar drive and the art museum, between nine a.m. and 3:00 p.m. they are fix that wall on the schuylkill river. not going to be able to come into the city on mlk drive. so a thumbs-up pretty much so far this morning, jim, jan. >> now, for a look at the newspaper headlines from across our region. >> from the cover of the trentonian, hopewell valley man accused of possessing child porn and sharing it on the internet was arrested at his home following a scuffle that injured two state detectives. authorities say 43 year old was in possession everyone
