but we are told, by officials that they say the air quality is normal. stay with "eyewitness news" we will bring you very latest, as more information is available. day two of the arctic blast, and is there more wintry weather on the way, storm scan three says it all, warm front is on the way but it will be bringing us some wintry mix of snow, ice, and rain setting up for a messy start to the weekend. that wintry mix could delay your plans if you are thinking of getting an early start on your holiday hopping tomorrow, good afternoon i'm jim donovan i'm jan carabao. meteorologist katie fehlinger is in the the cbs-3 weather center with more on the timing of the snow and ice and where it will be falling, katie. >> in short guys, i do think everybody gets hit with this through the course of the weekend. we have a winter weather advisory scheduled to take effect, for now things are very quiet. at the local level we are still dealing with sunshine and some loud, overhead. but the chill, it is the other big story. lets get right to it very quickly check ago this localized level of storm can

boy in the second floor back bedroom. >> it is just terrible. it the is terrible. i am thinking what the heck is going on. >> reporter: cynthia jones lived across the street for 48 years but said she has never seen anything like this. thirteen response units and 75 fire fighters and medics rushing to help. >> stairs were almost completely burned away, upstairs is completely burn. just a really tough fire fight our folks are just distressed, thinks a tragic outcome. >> reporter: commissioner adam tiehl says they rushed the 39 year-old man who made need treatment at the bush center at penn presbyterian medical center. >> fire officials say icy conditions complicated fire fighting efforts and it took an hour to get the blaze under control. wind also, played a factor, spreading the fire to three homes, displacing at least nine neighbors. while red cross helps families who can somehow rebuild, is there a feeling of loss for fire fighters who tried to save the young boy's life.

>> they are heart broken. we all have kid. they're all heart broken that they could not do more. >> reporter: in cobbs creek, anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". philadelphia police officers were shot at while chasing down a group of robbery suspects this morning. it all happened around 1:30 at lawn dale and luzerne streets in philadelphia's feltonville section. police say that three teens robbed a man at gunpoint and then ran off, but police chased them, they opened fire. no one was hurt and all three suspects are in custody. suspect in the june shooting of a folcroft police officer is due in court this afternoon for a preliminary hearing. the prosecutors say that three three-year old dahntay brooks island fired seven shots at officer christopher dorman. dorman was response to go a call of the drug deal. island is charged with two counts of attempted murder and other charges. meanwhile in philadelphia police believe this suspect stole an elderly woman's purse and her groceries. the robbery happen last friday in the 2300 block of riply street. police say that the will beer

grabbed a pocketbook and two bags of groceries from an 87 year-old women, and then got in the white vehicle and then fled. police say that this video shows the suspect attempting to use the victim's debit card anyone if any information is asked to call the police. happening today, president obama will hold his final news conference of the year, and he is expected to get a lot of questions about suspected russian hacking, the enthusiasms conference is scheduled for 2:15. a spokesmen for russian president vladamire putin call the hacking accusations base less, however, the president says russia sought to under mine american democracy, cbs-3 will bring you the cbs news conference live this afternoon. president accused trump campaign of those about russian hacking as kenneth craig reports, the president-elect, strongly denies it. >> reporter: president-elect donald trump took to twitter this morning and mock the russian hacking controversy that he has repeatedly questioned. he tweeted are we talking about the the same cyber attack where it was rereal that the head of dnc illegally

welcome back everyone. for the tenth straight year toyota has team up with philabundance to provide a massive food donation to our local communities. >> chopper three over convoy of 75 toyota tundras heading to citizens bank park carrying more than 300,000-pound of food. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live at citizens bank park in south philadelphia where massive effort is now underway, greg? >> reporter: good afternoon, that is exactly right. you said it, 330,000 pounds, think about that for a second, look at these toyota tundras being unloaded. they are about 6,000-pound. amount of food dough that ited is equivalent of 55 of these trucks, and there is 75 of them, coming by and delivering all of this food, these donations really an incredible thing. it is a cold afternoon here but of course a great cause. i'm join by paul, with toyota,

you started this project ten years ago. explain how it transitioned over this past decade. >> yeah, ten years ago we had five trucks, and came up with 30,000-pound of food. and this year we have 75 tundras in the convey, and we're over 330,000-pound of food. >> reporter: incredible thing. you know, working with philabundance here a great organization in our community. talk about just the need for coming together and doing this there is a year long need for those who are hungry. >> oh, absolutely. part of the idea have of this is they see 90,000 people, a week, 90,000 people a week, that is 330,000-pound of todd will just about cover, one weeks worth of groceries for these folks. so, there is another 51 weeks a year people are not just hungry during the holiday season they are hungry all year. one of things we wanted to make sure people understand is

three people were taken to the hospital, fortunately with just minor injuries. thank goodness nothing like that here. >> yes. >> not just yet. >> yes. >> icy weather is on the way. now we will not be stuck with, you know inches worth of snow on the ground but tomorrow morning, especially, looking pretty, dicey. i like that word. especially slick. we will deal were on ice as well. there is a lot of details to get to and it is dependent upon where you are what you will end up finding. we will get a heck of a lot more specific here but lets start off by taking you outside to talk about the temperatures. the lets keep it in perspective, guys. the it could be worse. let me show you why. twenty-two currently in philadelphia. feeling like 22 because thankfully the wind has started to ease up on us. we will take it. out in chicago you're currently at 16. ten this minneapolis. it is a whooping four, in mar fargo north dakota and interest that the falls we are not even above zero right now.

that does put tonight perspective, right? still colder than average. i get it. you need to be bundled up adequately. here's the storm in the entirety. you have to zoom out on storm scan. bulk of the energy is up around rockies but streaks of snow have begun to move in. not just midwest but southwestern, pennsylvania. but we're not going to get in on any of this until overnight tonight. evening drive, usually, busy anyway but won't have any wetter, wintry weather, to deal with through that. let's check in at 1:00 a.m., beginnings of the snow flakes start to move in. even they this is a warm front lifting in, you've got too much cold air in place. we will have several hours, of snow, before the warm air, really catches up to us from south to north and can force that change over, from snow to ice, and then to eventually rain. owe, further north we go more likely to see a couple inches of accumulation but by six or seven or 8:00 in the morning you wille it turn over to ice in the city, more so 9:00 a.m.

in the lehigh valley and pushing out of the bucks county and by 11:00an this is all rain and it is all gone thankfully come later that afternoon. catch a break tomorrow night before the cold front comes through on sunday and delivers a fresh round of rain. let me put tonight more bullet point format the for you. pick your region and this is what you are facing. there will be ice briefly in between snow and rain, especially for central sliver of our area. philadelphia, you have to worry about freezing rain or sleet, in between, that inch or less of snow changing over to rain, okay. especially early in the morning that looks like the slick time. i have seen a lot of those road crews getting us prepped with the brine and salt outside on the roadways. we're not talking about a lot of ice. you know how this goes a thin glaze is all you need to cause major headaches. even through an hour or two worth of just modest icing there could be a tenth of an inch of ice to really slick things up. so again that is tomorrow morning. i would give you red caution
