. blp blp the main shoot-out was killed. thet they have been searching for anis amri. >> amri was killed in the italian city of milan, hundreds of miles from berlin. charlie dagada is at the scene of the truck attack in the capital. charlie, good morning. >> good morning. the italian interior ministry said earlier that it is beyond doubt that the man killed in milan is the berlin truck suspect. it is worth pointing out, the suspect had spent time in

italian prison, they would have had his fingerprints, he would have been on a database. he was shot dead at around 3:00 a.m. by what's been described at a routine check. instead of producing i.d., he pulled a pistol out of his backpack, fired on the officers, shot one of them and then shot dead himself. anis amri had been on the run since the attack here on monday. german authorities had put out an international arrest warrant for anis amri, who was obviously armed and dangerous. the news will come as some relief here in germany that the suspect has been caught and shot dead, but there are also outstanding concerns about the network that may have helped him plan the attack in the first place and may have helped him get away. alex? >> charlie, thanks. we will have much more on this story, coming up at 7:00 on "cbs this morning."

montgomery county leaves one person dead, nearly two displaced. fire crews responded today apartment fire 400 block of high street pottstown. the victim was found on the second floor of the apartment building. meantime, "eyewitness news" has told about 20 people now out of their homes. no word yet on the cause of that fire. well, the travel rush is on. not just here, but all across the country. >> whether they're traveling by road, rales, or the sky. triple a says 2016 is on pace to be a record breaking year for travel. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at philadelphia international airport this morning, where folks are already lining up ready to fly out. high, trang? >> reporter: yes, pretty ideal conditions at the airport this morning, all of the flights, leaving on time, and practically no security line at this point, though it does come in waves. and joining me now, jana from triple a. talk to us about what air travelers can expected to. >> good morning, yes, so let's get right into it.

>> what can people expect? >> you can definitely expect long lines. people coming down to the airport need to pack their patience. we have almost 80,000 philadelphia area residents who will travel by air for the holiday period. travelers come into the airport, definitely want to remember to print your boarding passes, have them available on your smart phone. and definitely arrive at least two hours before your scheduled departure. some people here, you wouldn't know it by the line right now, but the line will get long. and you would much rather get through security, and then relax on the other side while wait to go board. >> and this is record year, you guys were saying, for air travel this time period? >> triple a projecting record travel volume for the holidays. so, you definitely want to pack your patience, give yourself plenty of extra time. >> awesome tips there. get here early. you're going to get here quickly get to your destinations but we will talk to some passengers coming up in the next half hour. for now live from philadelphia international airport. i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", back to you guys. >> yes, two hours early.

condition. well, women, well, the eagles have ended their five game losing streak, and kept the giants from clinching playoff spot at the linc. >> birds grounded eli mangan the giants in prime time. the eagles were already up seven-nothing, when eli manning was pick off by malcolm jenkins. who took it all the way for a touchdown, jenkins had two interceptions on the night, the birds also intercept add pass during the giants attempts at late game come-back, eagles win, 24 to 19. >> every time we get a chance to pick up the ball, cause a fumble, we think about putting it in the end zone. >> even though we might be out of the playoffs, whatever division there is and that, but for us a chance to win a division game, number one, and, you know, erase sort that far negative feeling that we've had these last couple of weeks, and do it in front of our crowd, i thought, was awesome.

sunshine, very pleasant weather, high to reach about 47. that's about four, 5 degrees above the seasonable average in any given location, as the evening approaches, clouds do build in. the showers will be approaching, though, and then, again, you have to deal with that through the first half of saturday. by saturday evening, happy hanukkah to you. the clouds are still left over. but, it is not terribly coal. hey, clearing out. that's the important thing. back into the 50's for couple of days there. and we can expect sunny skies, justin? >> good morning, that is huge forecast is quiet. big travel day for the holiday weekend, both on the roads and the skies. most part, looks like good shape. area speeds, no problems now, schuylkill expressway, both directions inbound and out bound. the boulevard, good shape as well as the blue route. little slow, 95 north around cottman, speeds down to 31 miles per hour. to the airways this moving, traffic flowing good in and around the airport, sky conditions, no problems this morning, but still will arrive little early just to be safe. all right, there is the

accident i was talking about, 95 northbound, at cottman, left lane block. little bit slow, go there right there. and then, schuylkill river wall repairs, continue, mlk drive-in bound closed between spieth briar and the art museum, between 9:00 and 3:00 today. again later this evening between 7:00 and 5:00 a.m. that would go through january 20th. and then, still that accident scene, up around the willow grove mall. center avenue, at easton road. and then we have the construction zone down in new jersey route 130 between 322 and 44, one lane stays blocked. katie, stay with us, we'll be right back.

locally. that's fantastic news. off to chilly start. but again, this isn't terribly harsh, it is late december. this is kind whatever you expect. thirty-three, the temperature at trenton, at 33 in ac, ocean water little on the chilly side obviously at 42 degrees, but we are expecting eventually to evening out daytime highs, air temperature wise, into the upper 40's, 47 both at the shore and in philly. which, again sacks little bit above average, we will take what we can get. forty-two the expected high in the poconos. speaking of travel, of course, justin will have a lot more on. >> this as it pertains to the weather we are expecting wet weather come tomorrow morning. even as early as the overnight hours. so, possibility, because comes un the cover of darkness, weaned up with a little bit of icing. coming up: i'll talk about more specifically who has that chance to see some icing. who will end up with the rain? how long is it going to stick around? but the bottom line is you will have to use the caution light here for the first half of saturday. then otherwise, i say, justin, we can expect the green light looking forward for today as well as the second half of our

saturday, all looking good-bye that point. over to you. >> good to hear that, yes. this pattern just so quiet, temperatures, are on the warm side. now, we do have one issue on the roads, now, this is 95 northbound cottman avenue. one accident here. it is taking out the left lane. really starting to slow things down. you can see, speeds, from the vine to woodhaven road. speaking about 18 minutes now for that trip. but southbound, looking pretty good. probably little bit of gaper delay right around the accident scene going southbound. again northbound stacking things up little bit. have the patience leaving town north on 95. another accident now, skippack, route 113 at creek road. just heads up there. and we still have that accident scene right around the willow grove mall. center avenue at easton road, been here for awhile this morning. then again, that water main break repairs continue on columbus boulevard, southbound, remains closed at queen street, alternate second street or i-95, you can get to the ramps. and abbottsford road remain closed until late february, roberts or queen lane are the

october 31st, in luzerne county. the mother, sarah packer, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, and obstruction of justice. police say she did not provide photos of grace until two months after her disappearance. >> we need the public's help today. we're asking publicly for all of our respective reason, for our citizens, to provide us with any information that could help us solve grace's murder. >> now the mother has not been charged with murder, but she and her boyfriends are considered persons of interest in the case. she is being held at montgomery county prison pending trial. >> well, millions of people are hitting the roads, rales, and headed to the skies this holiday weekend. >> philadelphia international airport is just packed with people flying out this morning. to leave on time, and take a look here, not much of a security line to speak of. so we've been here all morning, really seeing an ever and flow, it has back up few times, but the tsa agent are really getting the people right through. but triple a expecting about 08,000 people, from our area, to be traveling by air. just few tips for these air travelers, going to make sure to arrive for your flight, at least two hours ahead of time. this is not always going to be like this. really will pick up throughout the day. also for those at tsa checks, pre checks, there is separate line for them. they want to kind of make sure they finds that line so they don't stack up the other line here. also, as always, pack their patience. >> it is long. i'm tired. so i'm really didn't want to stand in line, be here early enough to avoid this. >> reporter: one interesting thing i'm really hearing from travelers as i am talking to

crash that almost took his life. he was driving on interstate 81, saturday morning, when his car flipped over. his phone went flying, and was no where to be found, leaving him with no way to call for help. but, he says, he never lost hope. >> my family never gave up on me. and they wouldn't. as long as you got something to fight for, just don't ever give up. >> smith suffered four broken ribs, and fractured ankle, and although he wouldn't call it a christmas miracle, he says this happy ending is just as good. >> meantime, out in san diego, tropical storm causes severe flooding and massive downpours, and dangerous driving conditions. that led to several crashes. the first of two back pack winter storms slammed the city yesterday afternoon. heavy rain caused numerous accidents and intense flooding. the area is supposed to get an even more powerful storm as expected to bring snow this

weekend. >> well, we seem kind of boring compared to that. >> snow in san diego. who has ever heard of such a thing? >> it can happen. mother nature, she does what she want, jim, you know that. no matter what we want, she is going to dish up what she decides on. but what we are going to find here locally, is far from a white christmas, rather, much miler than average couple of days coming up here. only couple of minor hiccups along the way when it comes to the weather patternment look at this gorgeous sunrise. nice clear sky, outside middle township high school, cape may courthouse, right on q, flock of seagulls, quite literal, going flying on through. isn't that awesome? 34 degrees the temperature right now, very modest breeze, outside at the moment. let's go back to the eyewitness weather watch ers. they are reporting some chill in the air for sure. number of different temperatures that are either in the upper 20's, flirting with the freezing mark, slightly above it. we go to one in delaware. at 26 degrees from jason, but just couple every clouds certainly overhead. he's got modest 7-mile per hour winds flow out of the west, so, while you may notice
