this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. new this morning, nicetown street corner becomes a crime scene after gunfire sends a man to the hospital. find out what police say led to the shooting. >> ♪ >> he helped write the sound track of the big eight zero's there is morning, fans and entertain ertz alike remembering george michael. >> we're starting with the chilly morning, but wait until you hear how mild it will get today and tomorrow. >> today is monday, december 26, good morning, i'm rahel solomon. let's check your your day on weather and traffic with katie and pat. >> up early this morning, checking on the roadways, really, in the whole lot going on today as you can imagine.

>> we may be the only ones working. >> no kidding. it was like crickets on the road this morning which makes for very simple commute. let's throw a freezing rain advisory into the mix, what do you think? i know, we look at storm scan3, guys, things still looking pretty quiet f you're about ready to hit the road, and you have got to get back to work, things looking quiet initially. satellite coverage over top of this, and at the moment, there is not even much to see there either. there is a little hint of cloud cover, beginning to work its way on in, but like we mention, there is freezing rain advisory, that goes into effect just as actually going off the air with "eyewitness news" this morning at 7:00 a.m. that will last us generally until 11:00 a.m., but goes little later than this up in the poconos, mid afternoon. that's just because you may end one it little longer. but, really, only talking about the possibility of some spotty freezing rain and drizzle throughout the day, of course, how much, if you get any of that freezing on contact, it will lead to slick travel. you can understand why. when you see some of the temperatures, 36 the value at philadelphia international

airport. we're at 26, though, by comparison just hour north in allentown. so much colder temperature profile as go to the north and west, but once we get into the afternoon here, granted see a shower, but 50 still projected high in philadelphia. so, milder than average by almost 10 degrees, we hit 52 at the shore, more clouds than anything, but again, that freezing rain is a concern, as go far enough north and west, so pat with time eventually travel can certainly be impacted by it. >> looks like kind of temperature wise, same as yesterday, really warm yesterday. >> not bad for christmas, right? >> not bad at all. felt pretty good. feels good out there this morning, on the roadways, as well, here is a look at the vine street expressway, with it being christmas yesterday, a lot of overnight construction, not there this morning, just not seeing it, and you are not seeing it here between broad street and the schuylkill expressway, couple of cars moving if you are up very early with us this morning, also, columbus boulevard, though, this is still here they've been working on this few days, a water main break, two right lanes closed on thursday, they

blocked the roadway, people were driving all over the other side of the road. so, today, they will not be working on this. so, the right two lanes will remain closed here, penndot says, they don't think they'll be able to do it, but then looking beautiful this morning, not whole lot of traffic. not whole lot going on, rahel. >> pat, thank you. new this morning, man is shot several times in philadelphia's nicetown neighborhood. police say the shooting may be the result of an earlier fight with neighbors. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at temple university hospital with the latest on his condition. trang, good morning, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, rahel, we know this person who was shot is a 52 year old man who at last check was in extremely critical condition here at temple hospital. he underwent emergency surgery overnight in a attempt to save his life. but take a look at video shot at the scene last night, police responded to the 3800 block of bouvier street in the city nicetown section around 11:30 p.m. shooting scene but no victims.

discovered private car took the 52 year old man here to temple hospital. he had been shot several times in the arm and torso. police spent five shell case, and says detective have some idea of what sparked this shooting. >> we're getting information from several witnesses that this 52 year old victim, family members of his, were involved in earlier fight in the neighborhood. we believe that this 52 year old male was shot in relation to that family fight. >> police describe the shooter as a man wearing a camouflage jacket, bluejeans, and boots. they say there are several private surveillance cameras on the block, and they will hope that that video will help id the suspect. that's the story here. for now live from temple university hospital. i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", rahel, back to you. >> trang, thank you. >> flowers and candles are part of a memorial at a south philadelphia grocery store, that was the scene of faith al

shooting. on saturday, 81 year old marie buff the owner of marie's grocery store shot inside the store at eighth and wharton, died shortly after being rush to the hospital. so far police have no leads in the case. >> investigators trying to pinpoint what sparked house fire in delaware county. firefighters got the call around 2:00 yesterday afternoon to burning house on marlboro lane, glen mills. it is under control in about 30 minute, the flame did cause extensive damage to the second floor. >> in the crawlspace of the attic and the second floor. so once it gets in the walls, weaver to try to find it before it gets too extensive. >> reporter: there are no report of injuries. firefighters put out the fire before it reached the first floor. >> well, in other news, his music helped define the 80s. >> this morning, fans hearing about the death of george michael. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> that of course was

>> that is very much the point here, too, rahel. not everyone will get hit with any wet weather necessarily. warmfront lifting in. and i know it might sound little backward, warmfront, but freezing rain, how does that work? of course you have got enough cold air through the overnight hours, and because it is coming with that kind of timing, that's where any of this wet weather currently moving it way into pittsburgh, and western pa, could ends up bringing us little bit of frozen precipitation, freezing on contact, in other words, when the rain actually falls from the sky. warmfront itself is lifting through. really is pretty robust looking system actually. we're just not going to get in on the main energy from it. that's actually bypassing us to the north, but we do see at least our handful of showers that come with this system. for now, expect the clouds to be building as we hit 7:00 a.m. that freezing rain advisory goes into effect to the northwest path of the delaware valley, philly not included. see how it start to move it way in here. again, this is a model. come in seen, linger later than there is but as late as 2:00 in the afternoon could still be enough cold air in

place, any rain that falls from the sky freezes on contact. so it will be something that we need to keep a watch on. from travel plans out that way, i want you to be extra careful. it could be freezing. by 6:00 p.m., it will have turned over for rain for everyone, still scattered showers, go into delaware, south jersey, won't even see drop of rainout of this. tuesday different story. not talking about wash out here either, but everybody has much better chance to see scattered rain showers, this is pretty pot end cold front, guys, will sweep through in the morning hours, then eventually be knocking our temperatures back. so, watch for sprinkle or shower in the city, far south and east you do stay dry. high hit 50, above average, dropping down only to the upper 40's tonight, not so much movement on the thermometer, but take a look what happens down the road here. we should crack 60 tomorrow, pat, then, whew, nose dive, 45 come benz, so this is potent cold front. it doesn't pacca loft moisture. >> i will still take 06 degrees in december. >> that's right. >> not bad at all. we will take that for sure, thank you, katie, good

morning, everyone, in for meisha this morning, checking out the roadways, post christmas, as would you imagine, at 4:46. not whole lot going on. this is the vine normally closed at this time of the day. looking good between broad street and the schuylkill expressway. the ben franklin, my favorite camera, beautiful between camden and philadelphia, no delays right here, but there is a delay on columbus boulevard, we've been telling you about this now for about a week, two right lanes closed on columbus boulevard because of water main repairs. it doesn't look like penndot will be able to get to this today. another day of backups on columbus boulevard. mass transit, couple of changes, you got the broad street market line, which is normal, also, regional rails though on sunday schedule, the city buses and trolleys, modified schedule, will have this all week. that's through friday. make sure that you make a note of that, and then patco speed line is a modified schedule as well. there is some construction out there, abbottsford road, that's out there until late

>> well come back, observing christmas day on this day, as well, as far as business schedules are concerned. so, not too many of you may necessarily be hitting the roadway here today, but even if you are, expect them, could end up with little bit of icing. here is the reason why. we start things offer by looking at the atmosphere pattern, especially, tomorrow, looking very, very mild. but we have warmfront currently lifting in. even though it is somewhat lackluster when its moisture content, it is helping to eventually send our temperatures anywhere from ten to 15 degrees above their average. and that takes place specially

we may ends up with little freezing rain, all of that is very much location dependent. so from philly on southeast, don't even worry about it. so we get you out there, show you what's up. roadways as quiet, road front eventually starts to lift n see the beginning signs of life of that. back through west most pennsylvania, at this hour, it is still even back to pittsburgh, the allegheny's, just rain. but, by the time it is reaching us, say 7:00 in the morning sore so, likely to have enough cold air in place just before the sun coming it up could lead to some tricky travel. again, thisthere is does not ie philadelphia. you are going to have to go pretty far north and west here, but as of 7:00 a.m., freeze advisory will go specific, basically the rest of pennsylvania on north into the mountains. so that's where you have got to worry about any rain that comes from the skies, freezing on contact, because the ground just cold enough to support. that will but everywhere else, it is really just not that bad. now over t
