morning. >> really came down to the wire. but the sixers lost, 102-100. >> katie is out on the skydeck with today's forecast. katie, hopefully you have some better news for us? >> well ... depends on how you define good, right? >> you know, i feel like i have is a silver lining type weather to tell but here, you know, if you have got to deal with one thing, at least you have this, and that is you have to deal with bit of breeze, quite noticeable, i'll say, and also couple of showers, eventually working their way through. but the trade off is some serious warmth today. although it doesn't last forever. it never does, right? so, it keeps me in my job, right? we have ever changing conditions, in the weather, and right now, it is a cold front that's crossing through. at the moment, not bringing too much in the way of precipitation, eventually find showers still in the radar. not widespread wash out by any stretch, but it will be something that we track in the next couple of hours, look at some of these wind gusts. as i'm standing here on the skydeck, i can actually see my monitor just inside shaking, my hair flying everywhere, so

i'm glad we're full screen with the graphics. it is 36-mile per hour gusts that we're currently finding at the airport after all. so it is not a sustained wind necessarily at 36. but it is very noticeable, when it is coming out of the southwest at 23 miles per hour, that's sustained winds speed. 59 degrees, guys, already, in atlantic city, and of course still multiple hours before the sun even comes up. and, as the cold front crosses through, eventually the temperatures will fall. but not before we hit 62 degrees, so through this afternoon, skies begin to clear. what's good the wind will start to taper off at least. so it really is at its strongest right now, and through the morning, some scattered showers to go along with it, of course, still celebrating kwanzaa. 62 degrees, as we mention, the anticipated high. so, i mean, just very far cry, by solid 20 degrees or so. from what we would normally expect on this day. again, pat, not going to last forever. i know you like the warmth, and i might even have little snow up my sheaff lane later in the forecast to tell you

about. >> i don't mind the warmth. i will take little snow. i know not everyone wants to hear that, maybe i am a little crazy, probably a.m. yes, this is the schuylkill expressway headed eastbound, toward the city of philadelphia, looking so far so good. really looking so far so good on a lot of the major roadways, no delays here, no delays on the vine street expressway. they did not close it overnight, normally do for construction, they didn't, still looks prep think morning, starting to pick up little bit as you head eastbound. but other than that, really no delays here. there is a little bit of winds, keep an eye on, 42 freeway headed toward 295, toward the city of philadelphia, no delays here either. but again that wind is causing some problems, you see the tractor-trailers swaying just little bit on the roadways. but nothing major. mass transit the checklist, septa buses and trolleys, they are on modified schedule throughout this week. there is fire to tell but in jenkintown, susquehanna road at mill road. there was outdoor leakage fire that has the intersection kind of closed down there in

jenkintown. one more thing to tell but accident, gilbertsville, route 73, to route 100 northbound, injuries reported there. rahel, jim, over to you. >> let's get back now to the story out of south philadelphia this morning. police continue to search for the cold blooded murdered err of 81 year old grandmother. >> so sad. happened christmas eve while she sat in the grocery store that she owned. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live at marie's grocery store at sixth and wharton streets, trang? >> reporter: good morning, jim, rahel. investigators say the 81 year old great grandmother was testifily targeted. they don't know who or why. as police serve for her killer, growing memorial outside the grocery store that marie buck ran for more than four decades. >> this police department and this city and this district attorney needs to step up and do whatever they have to do. >> a gut wrenching plea from the family of long time south philadelphia store owner. gunned down behind the counter of the grocery that bore her name for 43 years. >> she was murdered, my mom

was murdered. >> just before 99:00 a.m. christmas eve, a gunman opened fire on marie buck as she stood behind the counter of her store at the corner. sixth and tight on. as investigators combed the store for clues monday, family members gathered at buck's home, just two doors away, remembering the joy the 81 year old wife, mother, and grandmother would bring playing santa claus this time of year. >> she made a big joke about giving everybody pot poor i, poo-pori this year, she just wanted to joke around. >> but the laughter quickly turned to sadness and frustration. knowing, their loved ones' killer is still out there. >> had words at one time or another, or was this somebody on drugs and completely out of it? who would walk in, just shoot somebody like that? >> and police are scouring the neighborhood for surveillance video, asking anyone with

information to come forward to help this family around the holidays. now, a sad thing going on here, and marie buck will be laid to rest on friday. but for now, live from south philadelphia, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", jim, rahel, back to you. >> thank you so much, trang. >> so sad. still so many questions. trang, thank you. >> the search continues this morning for a missing grandmother and her great grand daughter from south jersey. barbara, and five year old lamyra left mays landing saturday, driving to see family in north carolina, relatives say barbara called them at 5:30 saturday, saying they stopped for gas, outside richmond, virginia, gas station clerk one of the last people to see them. >> she said i'm off. -- i'm lost. i was hoping they made it safe. now i hear the story. >> and the store clerk said she did help fix her gps, no one has heard from her since. >> well, the time now 5:36.

pays for road construction, and across the keystone state. a look at the latest prices at the pump. paying about two hadn't 45 for gallon every regular in pennsylvania, new jersey, 2.33, delaware, the cheapest prices in our region at 2.25 a gallon. >> well, a story of survival, and mother's undying love. easton family is stranded, during a severe winter storm in an arizona forest when a mom saved the dayment take a look. forty-six year old karen kline of eastern pennsylvania. she was found exhausted at a closed grand canyon national park saturday morning after hiking 27 miles. her family was on vacation, when their rental car got stuck at snowy forest thursday. kline a try athlete, and so her family agreed that she was in the best shape to go get help. >> it was about surviving, but it wasn't about surviving for me. i just kept thinking i have to do this for my son. i have to do this for my husband. i have to help them.

was hacked, with tweets claiming she had died. the false tweets have been deleted. spears' rep quick to tell cnn the pop star was in fact alive and doing quite well. >> and this little kitten is also apparently alive after a 600-mile journey in the engine after pick-up truck. the driver found this feline friend after stopping at a gas station in virginia yesterday. he suddenly realized it was the same cat he had seen earlier in, the cat may not have had the most comfortable ride. >> he was just sitting down here, around the air box area, just on top of the -- the brake reservoir. rest for minute, then get her into a cardboard box, we brought her here to the emergency vet. >> oh, incredibly the kitten was little dehydrated and had few nixon her, but fortunately one of the relatives decided to make the cat a part of their family.

dow want to take you out to the eyewitness weather watchers, many still sleeping in on holiday week here, but regardless do have some very warm observations coming in from the folks that are up and adam. thanks guys for sending these in. you have 57 from david out in clementon, 51 from fran, nottingham, and very mild conditions, elsewhere, pete is her in lawrenceville at 56, the list goes on, no one has bottom out below 50 so far from the eyewitness weather watchers this morning. and, that is kind of the norm across the better part of the region. let's go back to storm scan. now at wider zoom here. okay, but here is front number one. quiet for now, across the mid section of the us. system two, beginning to get it act together with snow currently in the northern rockies, what century moves in as our next reinforcing blast every cold air, that's what's going to allow us to bottom out into at best upper 30's for daytime highs from later this week. so enjoy the 60s that are on tap here today while you have them. they come with trade off, again some showers, through the better part of the morning, scattered in nature,
