the forecast, meteorologist, katie fehlinger in the weather center guys, really is the thing. you've got to talk location, location, location, when talking about who gets what, when it gets here. generally the time something pretty much consistent. but because we are going to see this next system arrive later tonight, especially tomorrow morning, it comes with a timing such that you will have enough cold air in some places, to support some snow, and in other places just going to be seeing some rain. we will really break those details down through the course of the show. if you are just tuning in, get out the door, i want to do that for you here. storm scan3, pretty quiet. lingering clouds over the city of philadelphia point north. we basically hit where we're going to open here today. not much more movement on the thermometer in the city at 44 degrees, 45, is the number sort of the magic number from millville to ac and back again into dover. but it is a lot colder, going up into the mountains, where we showed you the pocono shots. so again, plenty of colds air to work with for all of the snow currently packing up those ski trails. throughout the rest of the day, we are going to see

plenty of sunshine at the shore, still residual clouds here in the city. meanwhile, talk about the winter weather advisory that goes into effect at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. it is specific to carbon, monroe counties, so, that is one of the spots that we do expect some snow accumulation, and again, i'm going to breakdown more detail of how much we're actually expecting and how much we really need to shovel away come tomorrow. that's a bit later on, jim. >> thanks so much, katie. well, sinkhole with active gas leak forced ' vacs of about 20 homes in bethlehem early this morning, chopper three over hamilton, elm streets, where newspaper delivery man discovered large sinkhole around 3:30 this morning. now, authorities say evacuees are being housed at nearby northeast middle school. while repairs are being done, as every right now, there is no timetable for their return, all utilities to the neighborhood have been shutdown. police are stepping up patrols to the cherry hill mall to make sure the mall doesn't become the target of flash mobs. for two nights in a row,

unruly flash mob went through the mall, except the second night the police were ready. now, police say almost 200 teens arrived at the philadelphia mall yesterday. the philadelphia mills mall last night. they were met by a security detail, though, set up earlier in the day. thirty teens were able to get in, causing a disturbance in the food court. one teen even apparently tried to punch an officer. police suspect much of the planning for this may have occurred on social media. >> juveniles were able to get on social media, specifically snap chat, and they were able to all meet up at this location, at the philadelphia mills mall. but, police were ready for them. they were pro-active. and, as we can see in this video, some storms did lower their protective gates for some time, while shoppers were still inside. still no word on funeral plans for actress carrie fisher. she died yesterday in los angeles, less than a week after suffering an apparent heart attack. fisher was 60. she was accomplished author but of course everyone knows her from star wars.

co-star harrison ford said carry was one after kind, brilliant, original. fans also had high praise for the women who brought princess leia to life. one fan, chris, owner of atomic city come nicks philadelphia. >> she never was damnsell in distress, very strong, very self-self. and held her own with everyone that she was on screen with. >> and star wars creator george lucas says the role of princess leia was a lot more difficult than most people thought. he plays dollars her as great and powerful princess. >> in other news, investigators are trying to discover what caused deadly apartment fire in fishtown. philadelphia firefighters returned to chaka madison street around 3:00 this morning, they found man unconscious in a living room on the third floor. he died a short time later. two firefighters suffered minor injuries, as well. police in southwest philly say the gunman in a shooting last night may be a regular at the bar, where the shooting took place. police say a 38 year old man

was shot at about 11:30 last night at lounge 62. that's at 52nd and woodland avenue. they say two men were shooting pool when an argument broke out. the gunman got away in a car. >> this bar pretty much neighborhood bar, seems everyone knows each other, two individuals probably new each other, probably playing pool against one another, most people in the bar know the individual fired a shot. but need to get them off the street at this time. >> that victim meantime is in critical condition. police are interviewing eyewitnesses, and examining video from security cameras in the neighborhood. philadelphia police are investigating a murder in the nicetown tioga section, 37 year old, garfield adams, fawn shot several times on his front porch, on the 2300 block of west atlantic street. he was returned to temple university hospital. but did not survive. so far, investigators have not motive for the shooting and no description of a suspect. new york city supplies booked lehigh valley man for two murders, one victim, a four year old boy, the other, the woman with whom he had the child while he was a student

and she was his high school teacher. police say 23 year old isaac, of bethlehem, confessed to killing 36 year old felicia, and their son, miguel, in their upper manhattan apartment. investigators say during the confession, he said he was tired of paying child support. he reportedly also told police that felicia was interfering with a relationship with a new girlfriend. well, police may return today to the collingdale home every missing mother in hopes of cracking the case. column i can dale police executed search warrant last night for the home of melissa rodriguez, she vanished in april 2013. crews entering the property with kad gary dogs looking for the woman's remains. four different dogs hit on spot in the basement, but after digging two holes, they found nothing. >> the dog is still indicating quite aggressively on the second hole and the back wall in the basement, without tearing the house down, tearing the house apart, i mean, we keep digging holes and keep looking, the dog is

still digging. i'm not saying she wasn't there at one time, she is not there now. >> again, melissa rodriques vanished in april of 2013. well, new clue in the search for barbara briley and lamyra briley. w tv r reports the woman's cell phone pink pinged from south of virginia, 73 year old mays landing woman and her five year old great granddaughter last seen near richmond. disappeared christmas eve while traveling to visit family in north carolina. >> horrific case of child abuse just outside of harrisburg. authorities say three young children were locked in a room for three months, and nearly starved to death. authorities say a five year old child only wade 23 pounds. one of the girls was a week away from dying. court paperwork says that the victims were extremely disheveled with dirt, animal hair, urine, feces in their clothing and encrusted into their skin. >> they were locked in a room with no heat source, they were

coroner's offers released the cause of death more than seven months after it happened. he was 66, and created the larry sanders show. starts as late night tv host, with ankles in show biz life behind the scenes. betty white is very much alive and still active at 94. now a fan from south carolina is trying to keep it that way. with tongue in cheek, to fly to where ever white is and keep her safe until new years day, page has ex seated the goal of 2,000. now assuming white doesn't want the protection, the mondayly go to the spartan burying south carolina little theater. >> well, coming up: co-workers share lot of things. >> one of them apparently shares a kidney. the officer who shared the gift of life with another officer in need. and guys, looking ahead to a weekend that features another holiday, at this point expect to go see generally a partly sunny skies, a little bit of modest warming trends, as well. but i would throw in the potential for just a stray

a coffee, i feel like i can't get warm. just the way the perception, coming off, ya, we ended up hitting 64 degrees, overall, after all. so i gave you a pason that one for sure. i'm going to take it, too. but what we are experiencing definitely much more after dose of reality for this time of the year. mid 40's, where we current are, not going to move much more the rest of the day, we have had little bit more cloud cover than originally anticipated, having hard time breaking in every location to up here around the network cameras, shot outside burn ville, where you can see the streaks of sun rays, breaking through the clouds, and it is 36 degrees, because of the clouds, overhead, having harder time rebounding out here, to the north and west serbs, but it is clear as a bell, outside beach patrol headquarters in margate sit. so it is just dependent upon where you are, through the afternoon, what you will find overhead, but everyone at least stays dry, catching break between systems, courtesy of nice pressure,

wide zoom on storm scan to show the next big thing, really frankly not all that impressive looking at least on the radar, but it will be rapidly intensifying storm system. those words going together don't often bode well for us but we get somewhat of a glancing blow from this, really going to ends up being much more of issue for new england, as it intensifies, drags in cold air, but we, how much, are going to see this come early tomorrow morning, that's why we jump ahead in future weather to 5:00 a.m. we start to see this cold front cross through. there is area of low pressure that develops on its tail ends, so a lot more moisture to work with this time. lou the course of the rush, see the moisture moving in. model we are looking at, not gospel, comes early enough we will see some snow possibly as far south as philly but the best chance goes to the northern counties with the rain-snow line continuing to lift north, with every passing hour, as the milder air takes over. even though we may not end up with very slick conditions, from wintery weather, you will

still get slowed down by what promises to be periods of some steady rain at times it, will likely even last us through the better part of the day. some co-4:00, 5:00 at night, p.m. driver looking better than a.m. drive, but see puddle on the roadways, that kinds of thing. good sort of synopsis, pick your spot, this is what you will ends up with. perhaps, this is still question mark, in philly, we see that brief mix. it is mainly rain in the city. i would keep your umbrella ready to go, though, south and east of that, nothing but rain. and, as long as it hangs on long enough, lehigh valley region, one-2 inches of snow, we showed you earlier, winter weather advisory posted for the poconos, as of 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. so, here's our official snow map. not all that impressive for wintery know, but two-4 inches, enough to shovel away. meanwhile we have got new years coming up the next couple every days, for the mummers parade, looks like may be isolated shower, not enough it will cause major issues for the parade, but looks like on the cool side. meantime take a look, friday, we will not hit 40 degrees,
