oprah has certainly been an inspiration to millions of women so i know how proud she would be of shannen doherty. the "90210" star has been so brave in the way she shared her cancer battle, and when she got the frightening news that her breast cancer had spread she opened up to our jennifer pirro. >> my hair was really matted like dread locks, and i went to try to brush it out and it just fell out, and i was holding on to just huge clumps of my hair in my hands and just running to my mom crying, saying, like, my hair! my hair! my hair! >> just grab the kitchen scissors and -- my mom was, like, wait, wait, wait. she put it in the ponytail and she just chopped it off. >> straight across. >> last month shannen began her first round of radiation therapy which she admits is frightening, but throughout her cancer battle

the former "90210" star has been getting support from celebrity friends including sarah michelle gellar, and then there's her squad including husband kurt and her mom. shannen posted this video reminding us all that no matter what the challenge, you've got to keep dancing. >> you and your mom seem like you're so close. she's your best friend. >> thank god. thank god she's there. thank god we're so close, and we have such a good relationship, and i know it affects her, and i know that -- she's so strong. my mom is, you know, like, she's a steel magnolia. she's a southern girl. she'll force-feed me gatorade chips. >> what has the worst day been for you so far? >> i think the worst day was the confirmation that i had cancer. >> after my first treatment as i was in bed and i literally and i am so weak that i couldn't eat and couldn't drink, and my

husband sat on the bed, and he was crying saying, please, please, you have to -- you can't sustain like this, shannen and that's when he picked me up and said i don't want to go to the doc and he picked me up and put me in the car. he's, like, you're going, and my mom was right there with him, and watching that -- watching your family be so affected, that's the rough day. >> what's one message that you have for your fans out there or for anyone going through something like this? >> stay strong, have faith and really lean on the people that love you and support you. embrace the good and try to stay positive and know that i'm here with you. >> and we are here with you, shannen. thank you so much for sharing your journey with not only women in the united states, but around the world. i think you've helped so many people. >> cameron matheson with his favorite interview of 2016, and
