"eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is live from northeast philadelphia with more on how recent terror attacks abroad have shaped

local preparations. alex? >> reporter: well, jessica this will be one big, busy weekend here in philadelphia, from new years eve falling on a saturday night to sunday's mummers parade and eagles game law enforcement says they will have all hand on deck. there will be plenty of distractions, overhead, and through the streets this holiday weekend but police are asking participant to remain vigilant on reporting anything that seems out of the ordinary extra patrols and security measures will be in place new years eve and throughout the weekend heightened by incident of terror around the world and at large events. most recently december 19th christmas village attack from berlin, this in mind law enforcement locally teamed up with officials and other nearby major sit toys make sure that everyone can have a safe, fun, start to 2017. >> i personally been in contact with the nypd as well as pennsylvania state police, septa police, fbi here in philadelphia to make sure that we're all on the same page. we're all well coordinated

family, and these kid were partying hard. >> are you having fun today? >> yes. >> reporter: what have you done so far. >> a doughnut. >> reporter: you ate a doughnut. >> yes. >> reporter: complete with sweets, pizza, presents, games , ball dropping, making activity, funny fire works and those all so necessary noise makers. du pont hospital, went all out , for these kids to just feel like kids, and make every moment count this one helps kids heel and get better and get the out of the hospital faster. >> we will try to do everything we can to make holidays special for children and families and help them really celebrate the way they would if they were at home. >> reporter: carli just got out of surgery and wasn't about to miss out on the fun but she says the way that this hospital spreads joy, plays a huge part in what she likes it here. >> i have been coming here since i was 46789 i'm 20 years old now. i'm not going anywhere else.
