necessarily, from philadelphia county through delco down through all of delaware even coastal new jersey, fine. but central, southern interior new jersey, and the rest of the delaware valley, you got to worry about t now the further north go, not actually finding any frozen precipitation, let alone any at all, in some of the spots, so central new jersey just able to beat it. if you are only going maybe for five minute drive to the office, or where ever you are headed, you may actually ends up with dry roadways. but, this is clearly starting to build into our region. and it is obviously freezing on contact in a lot of the spots. soap, portions of 78, now, pushing closer and closer to the i80 interchange, northeast extension, all every those spots, if it looks wet, assume it has slicked over, and frankly i would say even through delaware county, philadelphia county, could be some of the colder spots where it may still be flirting enough with freezing that you end up spinning a little bit. be careful. these temperatures tell the story. obviously warmer air lifting in. low 40's, from wilmington down

to dover, but till close enough to freezing in the lehigh valley most everywhere else, play it safe out there. light rain, drizzle is the story for the rest of the day, watch for the icing, really for good portion of the day in the poconos specially but for the next couple of hours everywhere else, guys, back to you. >> kate, thank youment looks like a lot of people are staying home as you just said. take a look at this, this is the vine street expressway. as we can see, traffic moving smoothly, some home for school and work, has something to do with that, as well. road open last night, overnight construction continues tomorrow. we do however have few accidents to tell but, this is an accident on route 309 northbound, or lands, montgomery county at the off ramp to paper mill road. we do know there are injuries reported and the ramp partially blocked. we'll keep you up-to-date on. that will taunton lake closed, over sham township, accident about 2:00 a.m. this morning. there are downed wires at the scene. we're told the road will be closed until 7:30. if you use tuckerton road as

an alternate. >> family escapes house fire in delaware count. >> i intense flames could be seen from down the block. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live on the scene in prospect park, good morning, trang, what can you tell us? >> well, good morning, rahel, jim. at one point there were firetrucks from across delaware county lining the spot here. this is 14th avenue at pennsylvania. now, crews took about two hours to put this fire out. the fire moved so quickly, that a second alarm had to be called, but miraculously, everyone i had side made it out inch harmedment take a look at the massive flames coming out the house on the 700 block of 14th avenue here in prospect park. the fire started just before 1:00 a.m. firefighter on scene tells me it started on the ground floor, and then quickly moved upward. now, we are told family of six with three young children and their dog made it out safely. they did lose several other pet in the fire. red cross is helping the family who are staying with relatives, fortunately, again, no one was hurt. coming back out here, there is a crew here, just boarding up

the house now, with heavily damaged. now interesting note. neighbors tell me that this house caught on fire twice before. but appears this time, it will probably be a total lost. for now, live from prospect park, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", jim, rahel, back to you. >> thanks for the update. >> and investigators are trying to pinpoint what caused another house fire in delaware county. the call came in just after 1:00 sunday morning on the 500 block of old ford road in media. you can see here large home, and crews say the fire reached three alarm, before it was brought un control. home fad. badly damaged. >> bucks county man recovering from burns he suffered at his home on sunday. it happened outside his home on the 300 block in southampton township, air lifted him to temple hospital. neighbors tell "eyewitness news", he was burned by a fire pit he started in his backyard. the investigation into exactly what happened is ongoing. well, isis is being credited for night club massacre in istanbul, turkey.

manhunt continues for the gunman. police say the gunman walked into the night club on new years eve, and opened fire, at least 39 people are dead. about 70 others are wounded. one of the wounded is from delaware county. jake rock's family reached out to "eyewitness news" to talk about his ordeal, as joe holden report, a cell phone may have saved raak's life. >> jake made last minute decision to travel to turkey for the new years holiday. family tells us he was inside that night club when loan gunman came in and started firing. jake, chaddsford delaware county native recovering tonight in istanbul hospital. >> crazy people came and shooting everything. >> german tv capturing delaware county native jake raak being he is provide into an ambulance, while explaining to reporters what happened inside istanbul night club. jake was among the wounded, shot one, the bullet ricocheted off his cell phone and hit his leg.

sunday evening, spoke to jake's younger brother chris outside the family chaddsford home. >> i'm just very happen that i my brother is okay. that he's coming home, it is really sad with the rest of the worlds and what's going on and things. let's pray for them families. >> family first contacted cbs-3 about jake after word came an american was among the wounded, in the deadly new years eve attack on an istanbul night club. the death toll has riz tone 39 people. the governor of istanbul told reporters that the gunman rained mercilessly over innocent people. meanwhile, jake's family said after jake was shot he was playing dead in hopes he would survive. jake's mother, who did not want to appear on camera, told us, he made spontaneous decision to travel to turk toy meet one friends on friday. >> you guys doing okay? >> mother is a little upset naturally, but safe. >> jake rak had trouble

missing small plane near cleveland. a bag washed ashore on lake erie sunday afternoon. authorities have received multiple reports of debris from a plane crash caring six people, after departing cleveland thursday. family of four and some neighbors had just attended a cleveland cavaliers game that day. >> queen elizabeth missed traditional new years day mass, her husband prince philip attends the the church service at buckingham palace says the queen still room cooperating a cold. the queen now 90 years old. her cold also forced her to miss service on christmas day. but there is no indication that the queen is suffering from a serious illness. also now saying she is up, she is walking, so -- >> could be change of temperature. everybody is sick here, too. >> no kidding. you hear the clog in my sinuses, my gosh. but so true. feel like i've been battling something for the last month. this whole place, i feel like there is a playing going around. >> there is.

>> everyone is sick. not just here at cbs-3, but our whole family is sick, i mean, we get it. we know, you know, we're all sort every going through battling the bug for the holidays. at this point, if you are one of those folks, that your holiday is over, you got to hit the road and get out and head to work today, keep in mind, that we have not just rain, but some of it, icing on contact. we will show you what's going on here in a couple of our different camera shots. live shot from bethlehem. at the moment, there is a little bit of sleet currently moving in, looks to me like bit after sheen out there. on the road surface, right now i don't see any cars moving through. very quiet here in the christmas city at least to get things tart dollars. as the temperatures continue to climb, thankfully the ice threat does go down just like it is here in center city. this is being taken from one of the fabulous hotels blocks from our station headquarters in center city. you can obviously tell the rain has been falling here, in the cross section. so, what we are going to find in philly is just rain. everywhere else to the north

of that, i want you to just keep close watch on the car thermometer, driving around in this, or standing on train platform, get your cbs weather app, see the immediate temperature in your location, so make sure your location services are turned off. but here's what's going on. this wet weather is lifting in from the south. so it is brink withing it some warmth. because it is cold enough at the onset, freeze on contact in the northern counties. so storm two, waits in the wings across minute society, a north dakota bringing pretty decent snow. the front that trails that what will usher in pretty significant arctic blast, so we are not only going to see a lot of variety when it comes to the weather, our wet weather issues the next few days, also going to see some very significant cooling take place, into even next week. that cold air is going to be a running theme for us. that is lot to get to in the seven day forecast, but, all of the penn state ers out there will be watching of course what's going on out in pasadena today. right now the weather looks like very cooperative. probably more clouds than anything. sun glare not problem for the

guys, 52 degrees at kick off. so on the cool side out there, but weather, not an issue whatsoever, in california here today. meanwhile, we take a look, back here at home on our side of the contiguous 48. temperatures on serious roller coaster ride, wet weather. today it is light rain. pretty steady, majority of the day. eventually climb to go 45 degrees, coming already well above the early morning low of 32 that we hit. fifty-six tomrrow's high, well above the norm here. but also way too warm for anything but plane rain, though could be heavy. then the cold comes. take a look, guys, thursday through at least sunday, we can't break out of the 30's. rahel, over to you. >> can't wait, katie, thank youment bit of problematic morning with the freezing rain, but some good news for those people traveling through south philly. take a look, this is look at southbound columbus boulevard near queen street. you might remember a water main break had been block too long lanes of traffic for over a week.

all lanes, as you can see, all open and moving smoothly. we do however have to tell but an accident in florence township, new jersey, this is i295 north boards before exit 52. a vehicle has gone off the road, blocking right shoulder. no words at this point on injuries. to mass transit, septa regional rails will operate on sunday schedules today, city buses and trolleys will be modified and patco speed line will run on special schedule. now for look at newspaper headlines across the region. >> from the reds g eel ella bullet fired into the air by new years eve rev will be landed in the middle of family's living room. josh and gina were standing outside their home oklahoma terrace watching the reading fireworks after midnight when the bullet broke through two window pains. >> and burlington county times, 2016 saw a big spike in murders in burlington county. there were 19 murders reported last year.

we go into over time where michael's shot knocks it right offer the duck's goalie. flyers lost in a shoot-out four-three, flyers have lost four straight, they play the rangers at the well wednesday night. >> well, former eagles coach chip kelsey out after job again. his tenure as coach of san francisco 49ers lasted just one season. their record, two and 14. chip fired after the 9ers lost to the seahawks yesterday. >> new year means braving the elements for some in montgomery county. norristown, hundreds every people showed up for the the 37th annual freeze. each year brave men and women hop on water skis in frigid temperatures, actual raise money for a good cause. >> it is great. we come together every new years day and do this. it is all about community. it is all about helping out camp rainbow. we try to do what we can to raise money in all different ways from straight donations to food sales to ravel prizes.
