first, here's what you need to start your day and of course our morning minute. >> ♪ crazy people came and shooting everything. >> delaware county man hurt in the shooting. says had i his cell phone saved his life. >> i'm just happy. >> jake raak recovering in a istanbul hospital. >> intense flames ripped through home in delaware county. >> the fire heavily damaged this home as well as neighboring home. >> freezing rain that's going on out there right now. advisory posted for good portion of the area. penn state playing in the rolls bowl for the first time since 2009. >> we're season ticket holders. we wouldn't miss this for the world. and just something we've been looking forward to for years, now it is a culmination. >> the annual mummers parade started down broad street yesterday. >> i love how it just everyone just in a good spirit on the holiday. really fun to be here. >> another reason people are in a good spirit, is because the eagles won.

city are, but allowed it to expire, cancel it, in fact, because the temperatures roast quickly enough. now across central, southern interior new jersey, they also canceled the freezing rain advisory, so going to see the purple shaded area continue to recede and dwindle. >> bottom line, keep close watch on that, car thermometer if you're traveling around the area, especially headed north, especially headed further inlandment and where you end up having some of the coldest temperatures, allentown, certainly checking in at 33. thirty mount pocono. and your close enough, willow grove, chest enough, i want you to be awfully careful. again there could still be some slick spots out there. specially in the more remote locations. so, as we go throughout the day, eventually the temperatures going to climb pretty readily, mid upper 40's, the expectation for philly and the shore points, even though freezing rain situation goes by the wayside with time, we are going to be stuck with light rain and/or drizzle for the rest of the

day and night. and there is more rain on the way. not to mention arctic blast that waits in the wings, so, you got lots to talk about in the seven day, rahel, it will be very busy seven day forecast here locally. >> katie, thank youment also starting to be a very busy morning on these roads. take a look, accident on swam pike, limerick montgomery county. now we do not know if any injuries were reported, and what we are still working to learn, also, if the road is blocked. we'll keep you up-to-date. also montgomery county report of icy conditions, at the intersection of fifth avenue and main street in collegeville. now, at this point, there are no report of accidents. but again reports of icy conditions. so want to be careful in this area. also, we've been watching this all morning, taunton lake road close in the evesham township new jersey due to accident that happened here around 2:00 a.m. downed wires at the scene. told the roads will be closed until around 7:30, so you can use tuckerton road as alternate. >> two alarm fire rips through delaware county home. >> thankfully the family made it out in time.

trang do live at prospect park with the story. good morning, trang. >> reporter: good morning, jim, rahel. yes, happy to report that the fire is out. and the firetrucks are really out of the block. at one point just lined up here on voorhees avenue. very good news for people just waking up so it won't affect them if they are getting up to go work. closer look at the damage to the house here, the fire moved so fast, so quickly through this home, that they had to call a second alarm, which brought in fire companies from across delaware county. but take a look at this great video here, intense flames coming from the home. which is on the 700 block of 14th avenue prospect park. fire started just before 1:00 a.m. firefighter on scene tells me it started on the ground floor, quickly moved upward. we're told family of six with three young children and their dog made it out safely. so they did lose several other pets in the fire. the red cross is helping this family who are staying with relatives for the time being, fortunately, no one here was hurt.

now, firefighters did great job here. the home next-door does have melted siding. but really able to contain the fire to this corner home, now, neighbors tell me, interestingly, that this fire has caught -- this home rather has caught fire twice before. but this time it, appears to be total lost. for now, live from prospect park, trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". thank you so much, trang, for that update. >> and isis claiming responsible fosh night club massacre in istanbul turkey killed 39 people, injured 70 others, including a man from our area. >> this morning, jake raak from delaware county recovering from an istanbul hospital. his cell phone caved his live. speaking exclusively with "eyewitness news", tells us jake was shot once but the bullet ricocheted off his cell phone and hit his leg. >> i'm just very happen that i my brother is okay, safer, coming home, it is really sad for the rest of the worlds with what's going on and things.

let's pray for them families. >> and jake's family also says after he was shot, he remained motionless on the grounds playing dead and in hopes he would survive. he plans to return home tomorrow. and stay with "eyewitness news" as we continue to track this very latest from turkey to bring you any new information on air and on line at cbsphilly.com. >> driver is facing dui and other charges after a fatal hit-and-run in philadelphia's olney section. this happened around 1:30, sunday morning, at chew and march vine streets. police say the driver was speeding and hit a person crossing the street. investigators say the driver left the scene, and the victim died. police caught the alleged driver few blocks away. >> donald trump is back in new york city this morning after spending the holiday at his florida resort. >> meantime the president-elect expressing skepticism about reports of russian hacking, all of this as the white house upgrades its technology. here's hena daniels. >> president-elect donald trump will be briefed this week on links between russian

and cyber attacks aimed at the us election of the during his annual new years eve bash, mr. trump said he's still not convinced russia is responsible. alluding to having insider information, he will share in the next few days. >> i just want them to be sure. because it is a pretty serious charge and hacking is a very hard thing to prove. so it could be somebody else. i also know things that other people don't know. >> adam shif says tomorrow step rat on the house and members committee. >> members of the intelligence committees and congress, democrats, republicans, none of us have any question about this. the only one who does apparently is donald trump. >> over the weekends, president obama order his team to modernize technology at the white house. including new computers, and faster internet. the upgrade might not win over mr. trump, says no computer is safe. >> you know, from something really important, write it out, and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way. >> early new years morning, russian caring american diplomats and family members ordered out by the obama

hollywood seen were changed instead of hollywood, it red holly weed. authorities say someone climbed the mountain, and through two tarps over the zero's to make them look like e's, the sign changed back before 11:00 yesterday morning. no one knows who was responsible but the vandal was caught zero on surveillance video. >> you would think at this point someone would put up a fence, they've gotten to that sign a few times. >> and each time sort of when they passed legislation for marijuana. so make it a point there. i like the very last spot where it said holly wode. instead of hollywood. >> well, we are going to have a little treacherous travel this morning, depending on location, definitely little icing, and, yes, in the traffic reports, talking about some folks actually reporting some icing. so, that is where we will turn our focus initially. there is a lot to get to in this forecast. take a look. we start off here, just with live look in the neighborhood network. currently at 34 degrees

outside whitt fields elementary school. temperature again very close to freezing. i want you to just expect that through berks county, the entire county, it could have ice over. and it certainly looks like there is a sheen on the road surface, as we see folks making their way very slow zero slowly down the roadway outside elementary school, again, take your time. slow it down. hopefully the roads have a chance to maybe treat the surfaces. when it comes to ice, all bets off sometimes. now the eyewitness weather watchers haven't been reporting too much ice thankfully. do have temperatures profiles awfully close, to where up might finds it. now, 36 is from ed this morning, reporting some rain. and luckily he doesn't actually have to go out this morning. maybe just take the dog out i'm guessing for short time. regardless, you know, if you can, stay at home, i would advise it, don't go out for unnecessary errands if you can wait on that. let's go further north of philadelphia. where john is reporting some rain, as well, in perkasie, he also said even despite that temperature, that there is no

ice where he is. so that's good. i don't want us to get too comfortable and confident about this. you'll see why when we look at storm scan. 35 degrees, up in bath, pa, right now, where at the moment there are just some overcast skies. rain still working its way north. but he actually mentioned there is still an inch of snow on the ground where he is located. interesting. so we take you back to storm scan. now you understanded why i want you to be careful, right on the tail end of the loop, that pink really over spreading route 78, and that is definitely going to lead to some icing out there. this is all part of larger set up, as we see the warmth get broad in from south. just waiting on these temperatures to climb. once we get well enough above freezing no one has to worry about it, it will take us through the poconos specially into the afternoon, for now, philly, we're better off. and we are above freezing, to the point, just rain here. but again, please, be careful in the northern half of the area. looking at how the rest of the day shapes up, light rain, drizzling, still the story for

the rest of the day. warm up to 45 degrees, bottom out to 42 tonight, which isn't terrible. but fine drizzle still a concern. looking forward in the eyewitness weather seven day, we peak tomorrow, with the warmth, but rain will still roll throughment some of it heavy. then we come rationing down, can't breakdown out of the 30's for good portion of the forecast. >> take a look, i-95, looking southbound near cottman. now, there are no delays at this time. but again, also traffic moving very slightly, smoothly. but you can see the rain causing slippery conditions. so be mindful of that. if you have to head out. there are, how much, reports of i conditions at the intersection of of fifth avenue and main street, collegeville, montgomery county. ursinus college, also no absences but again be careful. accident to tell but in florence township, new jersey on i295 northbound, just before exit 52. you know that vehicle has gone off the road, crews blocking the right shoulder, at this point, no words of any injuries. >> well, that time of year,

year with proceeds benefitting children of life threatening illnesses. and new jersey hospital is celebrating its first baby of the 2017. doctors at virtua hospital in voorhees delivered little sawyer robert nelson, 13 seconds into the new year. patrick and chelsey nelson said they were incredibly watching the ball drop as little sawyer made his way into the world. >> so excited. so happy to welcome saw tore our growing family. he came at perfect time, right as we were watching the ball drop to ring in the new year. >> incredible. doctors say baby sawyer is healthy and doing just fine. he's 8 pounds, 19 inches. >> and sawyer by the name, seems to be a very popular name. the last baby born in 2016 in glendale, arizona, already a big brother,. >> indeed, sawyer matthew shea born at 11:51 new years eve about ten minutes before his twin brother, everett was delivered just after midnight at 12:01.

local man inside when it all happened. well, today is monday, january 2nd, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. to up date first on this freezing rain, katie, really not good way to start the week. >> definitely not. certainly not in 2017 either. so many people going back to work today, close watch on the car thermometers, where we are finding the worse cases of any icing out there this morning, but kind of just dreary day in general. let's back it up. take a look though, what's happening with the freezing rain advisory, again it, lasts us through the morning, different expiration times, that's why they're putting time for this on you. but, on this graph inning rather. but this morning, we're going to see some of these go out of effect, what the that the err weather service can cancel, this is going to be shrinking advisory, and wrapping up, latest, the further north you go. look at storm scan. you can understand y we've got the rain. pretty much confined, through
