usc wins it! >> it came down to the wire but penn state could not hold on to win the granddaddy of them all. >> he survived a nightmare and tonight the local man injured in the turkish nightclub attack is back home. >> don't get stressed out putting away those holiday decorations. three clever and easy ways to store your decor. we begin tonight with a roller coaster game at the rose bowl. i'm yukee washington. >> i'm jessica dean. penn state fans experienced a host of emotions within that game but ended up heartbroken. don bell is live in california. don, what a game. >> what a game. you guys said it. for the last five minutes and change i was on the field for that game. it was pretty crazy. it was a record-breaking rose bowl game and it was also a heartbreaker for the penn state

lions. let's show you the final two plays. that really changed this game. take a look at the head coach james franklin. picked off, thrown into double courage. intercepted only needing a field goal to win it, it is a killer. they were outscored 17-0 in the fourth quarter and they lose the highest scoring rose bowl game in history they go down 52-49. >> how proud of you of the guys. >> so proud of them. they showed so many heart to be able to come and fight. it sucks to lose obviously especially a game like this. we've got a lot of work to do, we're a young team.

>> reporter: penn state fans certainly showed up at this pub behind me fully expecting a win even though it didn't go their way, they are unwavering in their support of this team. penn state fans and alumni who couldn't be in pasadena, california for the rose bowl were sending winning vibes from the east coast. many with the delaware county alumni chapter gathered here to cheer on the nittany lions. >> it's been great we had a great turnout. everybody is excited about the game. >> reporter: pat helped to set up this watch party with proceeds funding a scholarship program. she explains the legacy of penn state football and its die hard fans for all of those who may not understand. >> it is infectious. you start there as a freshman and you get that spirit going and it doesn't stop. >> reporter: chants and an

for many it's the first day back to work and school after the long holiday break. anybody get an umbrella for the holidays? don't knock it because you're going to need it. >> sometimes those practical gifts actually turn out to come in handy and you're going to need it tomorrow once again the rain from earlier today has moved on out. you can see the steadiest up over portions of certain new england right around new york city right now but locally we're seeing some fog and some drizzle as we head down to the south, as this first batch moves away down to the south we've got round 2 loading up over portions of georgia and south carolina. you can see some very heavy pockets of rain there indicated by the yellow shading and that's going to be heading our way just in time for your morning commute tomorrow. the good news is that temperatures are warm enough that this is liquid rain not snow. 41 degrees in philadelphia right now, 42 in wilmington. temps starting to rise in south jersey. we're at 46 in millville, the poconos the one spot below freezing right now that any fog tonight could freeze and lead to

some problems. light drizzle through the overnight hours and here comes this big wall of rain poised to move in for the second part of the morning commute. i'll tell you about an arctic blast later in the week. >> a delaware man wounded in an attack at a new year's eve celebration in turkey is back in our area tonight. he says he survived the shooting by playing dead. david spunt is at philadelphia international airport right now to tell you more about it. >> reporter: he is the only american injured. he is 35 years old from delaware. he arrived here about 8:00 tonight. he left through a private exit with security, but he did speak to cameras before he got on the plane in istanbul, turkey. >> all i can say is it's massive tragedy. this is very unfortunate. >> reporter: 39 dead and the hunt is on for this man seen in a surveillance image.

isis claimed responsibility for the new year's day attack in istanbul. delaware resident jake raak was shot inside the nightclub before paramedics put him in an ambulance. >> i don't want to talk about what happened inside the club, but i want to say this is a very good country and it's so unfortunate that this is happening to you guys. and i really feel for everybody here. >> reporter: raak says he was with nine people when shots rang out. he says he stayed quiet on the floor doing whatever possible to survive. a bullet rick ochaed off his cell phone and hit the 35-year-old in the leg. we spoke to his brother chris just hours after the attack. >> it's really sad with the rest of the world and what's going on and things. just pray for their families. >> reporter: all major u.s. intelligence agencies are involved in the investigation. police in kur key are plastering this image everywhere. raak told turkish media following the blast. >> for me i wake up in the

near state road. police are looking for the maroon chevy pickup. it's missing a passenger side mirror and has damage to the passenger side door. >> police in burlington county tonight are on the hunt for a suspect who's driving around naked. the man has been spotted twice in medford. both times getting out and quickly getting back in. on december 30th police say the suspect got out of the jeep and ran towards some teenaged girls who in turn ran from him. neighbors are on high alert. >> are you keeping an extra eye out right now? >> i have been, yes. definitely. especially because i'm small. >> keeping our eye out. talk to go neighbors. making sure my neighbors are away. >> the suspect is described as a heavy set white male with an excessive amount of body hair. >> president-elect donald trump and his aides continue to push back against accusations russian hackers interfered in the

presidential campaign. there may be new cases raising concerns hacks might have been more extensive than originally thought. the president elect has promised new information about the hackings later this week. meantime president obama and his family returned to washington, d.c. after spending the holidays in hawaii. the president heads to capitol hill wednesday to meet with congressional democrats. they're trying to abide the plan to keep the affordable care act in place. repealing obama care is the first item on the joined for the new congress. trump has also called for it to be repealed and replaced. it is that time of year when the holiday decorations start coming down. >> packing away all those lights, ornaments and keep sakes can be frustrating. our nicole brewer has three very clever and easy ways you can store your decor. also this. >> i can't hear but i'll just

rockin eve special. carey stumbled through her short set failing to sing for most of it. her representative said her earpiece was not working and that carey told the production crew who told carey it would be okay on stage. in a statement dick clark production said the idea that any sabotage is involved is, quote, absurd. the holiday season is winding down and that means it's time to start putting away the decorations. >> from the lights to the ornaments, sometimes packing it up can be a real chore. >> ready or not it's about time to pack up the holidays. >> i love christmas. it is a little sad. >> kind of like when you go on vacation you're so excited to pack. >> when i get the tree outside i'm going to be happy. >> before you jam your keep sakes into the closet. >> it always comes back tangled up, and the lights don't work.

icy. have you to head up toward the peck knows, to find the threat for some icy spots on the roads tonight. but there is some fog out there. it's still damp and it's going to stay this way, damp and dreery overnight tonight. take a look at today's time lapse. gray, damp and dreary. and the rain picked up in intensity through the midday hours. this next storm is going to produce the same impacts tomorrow. it looks like the heaviest of the rain tomorrow will be through the midday hours between about 10:00 and 3:00. a big blob of rain moving through the portions of the southeast. it's lifting north and eastward right now and it will get here by tomorrow morning. temperatures on their way up. actually we've seen temps start to rise, we're at upper 30s the poconos still close to freezing so there is a threat for some freezing fog. there's not a lot of precipitation out there but even fog has enough of a moisture

content that if temps are below freezing any fog can create ice. watch out for slick spots in the poconos. otherwise in philadelphia it's 41 so temperatures definitely mild enough we don't have to worry about snow or ice. visibilities will be low in the morning. we start the day with fok and drizzle but by mid morning this big wall of rain comes in and right around the lunch hour, heavy pockets of rain impacting the area. you may want to pack that lunch tomorrow because you're not going to be going outside. kids probably not going outside for recess. we've got heavy rain 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. it's still coming. the good nice by the afternoon commute it is starting to lessen up a bit but it will still be damp and dreary. what to expect drizzle around early, the steadiest rain between 9:00 and 3:00, still wet for the pm drive and it does

clear out overnight. wednesday is a beautiful day but we've got to watch thursday when an arctic blast returns to the area, 5-10 degrees below average right into next week and a weak disturbance on friday could bring a light dusting of snow. less than an inch, doesn't look like a big event but certainly it's going to feel like winter out there and that could cause some slick spots on the roads as well. temperatures steady in the low 40s overnight, tomorrow periods of rain, 50 degrees your daytime high. wednesday is definitely the crown july of this 7-day forecast. 53, 3450i8d with some sun and the bottom falls out again. friday watch for that light snow dusting. sunday we've got to watch a system that's going to cut across the southeast, it looks like it's going to stay out to sea but you want to watch any developing storm that's even close to the eastern seaboard. as of right now it's dry for the weekend. >> i'm just so happy that you too are still talking and
