let's get taught katie. our penn state in-house fan. katie, you doing okay this morning? >> yes, because it was a great game to watch, even though i did admit inningly make it only to half time before i conked out for the night, regardless, those guys had great season. so proud of the work they d so win or lose, they're still stars to us, right? meanwhile, we've got a lot of weather to tell you about. not only is today going to be another very soggy day, but we're also going to be eventually dealing with some arctic air that works its way in, as the days progress. let me start things offer by showing you what's going on here on storm scan. actually not much locally. but, you can see, right on the tail end of the loop, that little nudge in of a line of green, that moves its way toward dc. and that's what is headed our way. one little zoom shows you over the virginians, pretty good swat of rain moving across the states, headed our way with time. so tail end of what is our typical morning commute, see some steady rain work its way in here. so we've since expanded window

little bit, so between the hours of 9:00 and 5:00 that rain will be working its way across the delaware valley. for now, fine drizzle. as i stands out on the skydeck, i can tell there is a bit of a mist, not enough that you really notice it too much. it is just kind of clammy, damp, chilly beginning to the morning. it will, however, get a lot more soggy as soon as the line of rain moves its way in. then we clear out later tonight. that's kind of the story, bit more specific, in terms of your temperatures right now, well above freezing everywhere, so you don't have to worry about icing this time, that's good, right? forty-one the temperature in fill, even 31 mount pocono will rebound quickly enough by the time the time the rain reaches you, you don't have to worry about icing. forty-two palmyra, and palmyra, and as the day progresses expect to go see temperatures get to about 50 degrees. now, by 3:00 p.m., around 49. again the high is expected to reach about 50. my advice is this: you really want to walk out the door with a umbrella here today. specially if you have got any

plans to be outside during the midday. you have got a lunch meeting, anything like that, that requires to leave the office, and so many of russ back to work and school here today for the first day after the holiday. have the umbrella you will thank yourselves later. that will rain looks like it will be not only widespread, but pretty heavy at times, and it lasts us a good long stretch of time here today. guys, back into you. >> katie, thank you. so a lot going on in the weather department obviously, but also a lot of accident to tell you about. take a look, accident on the pa turnpike northeast extension, cleared actually. it had been belonging one northbound lane between mid-county and lansdale. all lanes now open. there is an accident we do want to tell but though on valley forge road at sumneytown pike lansdale. it is unknown if the road is blocked. but we will work on that maybe get that for you the next hit. also lansdale, orvilla road remains closed at weikel road, you can use 40-foot road as alternate. live look at the ben franklin bridge camden side. looks like traffic still very light on this tuesday after the holidays.

we'll see if that picks up little later today. you can she there is some fog causing low visibility, so if you are headed back to school, or head back to work, you want to be mindful of that. in other news, terrifying overnight home invasion in the frankford section of philadelphia. leaves one suspect dead, homeowner badly wounded. >> now, police continue to look for second suspect, "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live with the story on pratt street. trang? >> jim, rahel, police were here all night. just recently cleared this scene here. take a look. this house involved is right about in the middle of the block. and police say man had just returned home with his wife and four young daughters, when there was knock at the door. shots fired both inside and outside the house. fortunately, the wife and their four little girls, who were all inside the home, are okay this morning. now, police responded to the 1900 block of pratt street, just before 11:00 p.m. officers found a 27 year old home own war gunshot wound to the mouth and leg. officers also found a second man inside the home right by the front door. he had been shot in the head,

was pronounced dead at the scene. chief inspect store scott small says the man killed was one of two men, who forced their way inside the home, struggled with the homeowner, then shot him. the homeowner then fired back. all of this happened while the man's wife and four daughters, ages four, three, one, and five month, were upstairs, getting ready for bed. >> preliminary information is that this was a home invasion robbery where the perpetrators were met by the 27 year old homeowner, who had a gun on his own. so, one of the perpetrators, at least one of the perpetrators fired a shot, striking the homeowner. the homeowner returned fire, striking and killing one of the perpetrators. >> now, again, the homeowner was shot twice, he is list in the serious condition at hahnemann hospital. meanwhile, police are hoping surveillance cameras on the block will help them id and find that second suspect. but, for now, liver in frankford, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", jim, rahel, back to you. >> trang, thank you. meanwhile international

investigators just released this video, the man you see is the suspect, accused of caring out deadly attack inside night club in turkey. isis has now claimed responsibility for the massacre that killed 39 people, and wounded dozens more in istanbul. isis calls it revenge for turkish attacks on isis fighters in syria. jake raak from delaware, the only american wounded in the attack. he returned home to the united states yesterday. 115th congress gets down to business today. republicans still have control of both the house and the senate. new congress is expected to dismantle obamacare. the senate will also be responsible for confirming president-elect trump's cabinet picks. today the house plans to vote on gutting the office of congressional ethics. that is the independent body that probes allegations of misconduct by lawmakers, instead under the control of the house ethics committee. house republicans approved the plan yesterday. wilmington new city council takes over tonight.

out there. shot outside boardwalk plaza here in rehoboth. and you can see the damp boards here, it is looking like little bit of halo effect around some of the street lamps or the boardwalk lamps i should say. but, at the moment, you're not finding any rain working its way through but do have moisture to work with, fine mist in some spots, low-lying cloud cover, in some spots, as well. but, with that said, the good news is, is that at least it is too mild right now in many locations, that you're in the going to have to worry about any icing here at all today. when the main batch of rain works its way on in. and as we take a look at the eyewitness weather watcher network here, they are finding at the moment, temperatures in the 40's, and almost every location. so, it really is just way too warm. 10 degrees above freeze nag lot of the spots, to support anything, but plane old rain. we go out to handful of locations, checking in in browns mills, actually finding little bit of fine mist. forty-two the temperature for her. very mild. we take you little further off to southwest, into pennsylvania, where wayne

hunter re reports in at 41 degrees, pretty high humidity, 96%. but a lot of clouds. we go to one more, let me take you on in, let's go to this one here, 42 comes in from dave bradley. out in essington, again, little bit of fine mist, rain in the air, obviously not a bright start to the first weaning of the year. but pee-wee are going to see prettier days ahead, although they do come at a price which we'll explain. for now storm scan3 brinking in just swat of rain. leading edge of which is pretty much moving right over the maryland state border. matter of hours. now that we're coming up on the 6:00 hour, probably another two and a half to three hours before the rain really moves its way in. and in its wake the arctic air is about to move in. so we got to start talking about future snow amounts. now there is doesn't happen until friday. so, several days away. and it is at this point still just chance. let me show you what future snow looks like here from one of the computer model, gfs model. picking up very light little sandusky g -- dusting at worse on friday.

looking forward to tuesday and wednesday even with the rain. thank you. >> this is i59 at girard avenue. we can see that delays are starting to build going southbound towards the city. it looks like there is also some low visibility due to the fog. so if you are headed out on 95, keep that in mine. there is an accident we want to tell but on flourtown road in whitemarsh township montgomery county. the road is closed between colonial drive and joshua road. there is a downed pole and wires at the scene. peco says they expect the closures to last through most of the morning rush, at this point no word on any injuries. there is overturned tractor-trailer on the pa turnpike westbound off ramp to valley forge. we know that the ramp is partially block, but traffic does appear to still be getting by. no injuries at this time. >> it is a virus that receives a ton of attention in 2016. now scientists say they're beginning to better understanded the seek a virus. researchers at the university of maryland say they're having to figure out what makes the zika virus so dangerous, they have identified key proteins that give them insight into how the virus affect cells.
