12:20 pm
brought severe weather in the deep south. so frankly, glancing blow from both of these for our area, as it is at least, you know, comparatively speaking to some of the other parts of the country, do still have the rain to contend w basically for the rest of the day. let's talk about the rain amounts, just so far, very short list whatever we found, it is not much. but, yes, couple of tents of an inch in woodbine, shy quarter of an inch, same deal pottstown. but again, this is for relatively wet start to the year 2017, after coming off of a year worth of deficits, in terms every rainfall, in a lot of spots. over the course of the next few hours, may tack few additional tents of ann here on to the total for the day as a whole. so, we may ends up with upward of at least a half to maybe as much as an inch worth of rain before it is all said and done. when you stack that up, against the deficit that we did face in the year 2016, for the whole year, but philadelphia, over 6 inches shy of where we should be, we're already in the month of january, over a half inch into
12:21 pm
that. so, it definitely just looking at it from the comparative stant pounds, off to much better start, in that regard, maybe we'll have chance to catch up little bit here. we do still technically sit in a drought in a lot of the area. cold blast coming though. we talked about that cold front that's back over the dakotas, minnesota area. that's going to be rolling in here tomorrow night. so, before it crosses, you're back in the 50's, tomorrow, actually, looks like pretty decent day. we get some sun, back in the 50's for january, we take it, but nice rude awakening comes our way behind that, come thursday, brisk, colder, back to the 30's, disturbance that will come awfully close bringing just a dusting we think of snow on friday. the bulk of that energy off to the south. but stuck in the 30's, so it will be cold enough no matter where you are, to support little bit of snowfall on friday. some of you wishing for that, i know, our own pat gallen is wishing for that, happy come friday. how much, we look at the live network, dreary start to the afternoon, 36 degrees, chilly granted, i don't think you have to worry about any kind
12:22 pm
of icing even out in these most remote suburbs, just a chilly rain producing system, but will continue to be with us, through the next couple of hours, well defined back edge to it, come later this afternoon. but stuck with fog, and a lot of moisture in the atmosphere, so it will lead to some additional drizzle maybe, even as we head into the overnight. i do think that will clear out with time, however, so, really the worse is what we're sitting in the midst of for the next couple of hours, by the time we hit the typical p.m. rush hour, scattered showers, fog, drizzle, ponding, road spray, nuisance issues, but enough that it will absolutely slow you down. please use caution, we always tell you. that will i know we start to sounds like broken records after a tile, but bears repeating. as i mentioned, tomorrow still pretty mild day. as the sun returns for one day, it is looking good, actually returns thursday, just heck of a lot cold from the 50's, to the 30's, in one fell swoop. make sure you have your heavy coat ready to goment look at this guys, we barely reach above the freezing mark for the entire weekends, even into
12:23 pm
next week. so, enjoy the 50's while you've got them real. >> i you want to take the pups to the dog park tomorrow apparently. >> great way to spends the day outside. >> listen, wintertime, nothing phases me at this point. >> thank you, katie. some who live near the vatican aren't loving the latest business to pop up close to saint peters square. oh, my. new mcdonald's is serving burgers just steps from where the pope appears for his sunday blessing, the fast-food chain officially opened for business thereon december 31, local restaurant owners fear the chain will take away their business, as tourists flock to the area. >> i don't know how i feel about that. i studied abroad in rome. than were all types of fast-food restaurant, not far from where -- >> just need a motorcycle nugget fix, right? >> you know? >> well, after the break, what you can do with that fruit cake that you still haven't eat glenn oh, boy. >> yes,
12:26 pm
>> if you received a fruit cake over the holidays and don't know what to do with it, here is a identify glee go outside, throw it as far as you can, it is national fruit cake toss day. colorado springs where people tossed fruit cakes around, this time each year, using machines, kind of like pumpkin chucking, just make sure no one is in the line of fire. >> on that note, that's "eyewitness news" at noon, i'm jim done val. >> i'm rahel solomon.
