5:50 pm
sits over one region, for an extended period of time it can lead to enhanced snowfall rates where ever that sets up which could end up being further inland then we had predict. something to keep an eye on. we have to now cast it throughout the day tomorrow. so, lets take a look at and help you do the best with what we have. here's our forecast. we will start off with right the now which is looking pretty quiet over center city. out and about on your try night no worries on the road f there is any left over puddles or moisture from this morning 's system they could re freeze as temperatures drop down below freezing. we are down to 3 degrees right now, at the cbs broadcast center. so that means it is watch out for slick spots. everything dried out pretty well today. storm scan three looks clear, a few light flurries over eastern maryland. that is it for now but we will zumoff to the south and you cane, something is brewing, it is a pretty major storm especially for south east. look at this heavy snow, over central mississippi, moving into alabama, this is not the something that they see very often this far south. certainly don't have the kind of snow removal equipment and frame structure that we have in the north east.
5:51 pm
so that could be a major every problems on those road. lots of ice happening as well in mississippi anal bam a we are seeing heavy snow over portions of the carolinas and virginia, and thinks first batch that will impact us, but this will be a long duration system. so even if we just see outer edge on have that storm along the coast it could be for hours and hours of steady snow , through the entire first half of the day tomorrow and very, very cold. so that means the snow is high ratio snow, which means it is light, fluffy stuff and piles up very quickly. when it is wet, heavy snow it tend to compact. you do not the get as much. light fluffy powder piles up and you get the higher amounts in that type of the snow situation. so, future weather, it shows the first little batch moving into the the shore points by 5:00 a.m. that is why the shore will see the most as it just keeps coming through the day. don't think we will see much in if ale until about 9:00 a.m. the steady yes, sir will be until about the first part of the afternoon. so from 9:00 to 1:00 we can expect snow in the city but notice heavier stuff coming down along the coast at 11:00 a.m. that continues through 1:00
5:52 pm
o'clock. it gradually tapers from west to east by 4:00 p.m. lets the talk about snowfall amounts, we will start off in the city and nearby suburbs. coat to go 2-inch's long i-95 corridor, philadelphia, surrounding suburbs, we will head up to the north and west, little or nothing there t second to four for interior south jersey, camden, gloucester counties and cumberland county. millville up along the coast that is your four to six range and kent, sussex counties in delaware f we get higher then six, best chance cape may and sussex counties right along the coast. some spots, could possibly, end up with eight or 9 inches of snow. down short that winter storm warning is in effect. storms hug the coast, four to 6 inches for most, six plus in spots, tapers saturday evening watch for slow travel. interestingly enough, this is copping in on the anniversary of our biggest storm ever in philadelphia, over 30 inches, with the blizzard of 96, that was 21 years ago and it started on this day, mess have the snow fell on the seventh. then our polar plunge comes in for rest of the weekend.
