surgery most office day. they tell us according to surgeons that they should know not until tomorrow, what jack 's prognosis going forward in the meantime jack and his wife were on their way for a two week vacation, when this horrible incident happened. seven five-year old jack decarlo of hamilton township retired prison guard, grandfather and great grandfather was on his way to the beach with his wife patricia when a dumbbell smashed through his windshield jack was injured critically. patricia was not hurt. within the hour jack decarlo's son jim spoke with us outside crozer-chester medical center. >> just couldn't believe it. just shock. never think something like that will happen. >> reporter: state the police said lit about where they believe the dumbbell came from the incident happened early monday morning, in the southbound lanes of the turnpike in salem county. police searched a nearby overpass for any possible evidence. troopers are now looking for any eyewitnesses who may have seen something, on the turnpike, near mile marker

in philadelphia's fishtown section after a water main break left a massive sing hell there. around 9:00 sunday morning a 6-k happened on the 2300 block of east boston street causing the section of the street to collapse. look at that. that sinkhole swallowed two cars, and repairs are expected to take a few days and some rest tents are braving the cold without the any water, or power. those water main repair crews had to fight bitter cold temperatures today as our arctic blast continues. we're in for another night have of bone chilling temperatures. we have live team three weather coverage for you, justin drabick is braving arctic blast and kate bilo is in the the studio. j.d., hang on we won't keep you out the there too long. lets start with kate. >> just a quick recap, this morning, it was coldest air since last winter, 12 degrees, that is where we started our day. coldest temperatures since february 14th of last year. if you will ren that was a very cold valentines day last year. it has this is been that cold

single digits up in the poconos. those wind chills are pretty nasty in the overnight hours. we have been talking about these freezing temperatures, check this out, we went below freezing as of 2:00 o'clock friday afternoon. it looks like we will stay below freezing possibly until sometime and noon time tomorrow, so, potential for 94 hours below freezing here, in philadelphia, so an extended arctic blast but if you don't like cold, this is good news, coming up, a bit of the pattern change shaping up. slow change but it will happen jet stream moves to the north and by second half of the week we are talking about high temperatures ten to even 20 degrees a have above average but like i said, gradual change, still some cold air in place tomorrow but it holds long enough for our next storm system winter wet ther advisory will go in effect tomorrow morning for areas north of the city in the poconos. kate ill have more details object what that entails. we have more owners out here on this cold night. dogs are loving this snow. but the snow will probably disappear over the next 48

santiago was appointed public defenders and told he could face the death penalty. he answered mostly yes or in questions and told the judge he understands the charges against him. santiago has been in custody since friday's shooting in the baggage claim area which left five people dead and injured, six others. eight year-old jayanna powell was kill in the hit and run in overbrook back in november and officers worked painstakingly to find her killer. her mom found a way to give back to those who gave so much to her family. and our that tasha brown has more. >> reporter: it is not too often you surprise police officers inside of their own district. it is also in the often you see a heartfelt gesture that brings a captain to near tears but that is exactly what iisha pool and her children did. >> they have been by me and my children's sides since that day, up until today. so, i just felt as though we should do something special for them because they have done a lot for us.

jewish community center in wilmington has reopened this evening after a bomb threat closed the center earlier

tomorrow, finally we will climb above freezing. we have this is ton that since friday. you can see tomorrow temperatures rise, stray snow shower possible. it thinks though coming through tomorrow night and it will start as ice. that is pink in the north and western suburbs. then we are looking at rain after midnight tomorrow night, and temperatures on their way up but this could freeze on contact when it starts to tall especially in the poconos. spots could see tenth of an inch of ice. we will continue to climb. we will go there the 20's, 30 's tomorrow, jump right to the 50's by wednesday, and thursday, thursday looks like our best chance to possibly even hit 60. so tonight, 19, may take a edge off, last night it will be this cold for a while. thirty-nine tomorrow with a stray snow shower. rain at night. another chance for rain on wednesday night but good news is most of the the rain will be at night this week. we will get sun during the day temperatures in the 50's. not too bad. over the weekend something to watch, cold air comes in. we will see rain. cold enough aloft that it could mix with snow. still tart you have this out.
