their way out and i out and we'n for a warm up. >> i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. >> promising basket of snow, sleet, freezing rain. katie fehlinger in the weather center, what could be a messy commute. >> the case here guys, we wait for warmfront to pass through. so might sounds little like an oxy-moron here, dealing with warmfront, why are we going to see wintery weather just too cold at the onset when the front starts to cross through so worry about icing. more localized level, looks like good bands every snow, right. >> having difficulty reaching the ground, so while you might see some snowflakes, don't bank on any real accumulation out of this, sort of just more than anything a passing batch of very light snow, if that for most of us. and then it is later on into the evening that we really have to get our guard up here what promises to be tricky evening drive for us. so, anywhere from western montgomery, upper bucks county, all point north, where you see winter weather advisory take effect tonight. it expires little later for

some of up, but does start at 6:00 p.m. for everyone. so, of course, perfectly bad timing for the evening rush here. so, light snow, some freezing rain, possibly some sleet, bottom line is it could easily be very slick out there. could end up with maybe .10 of inch of ice out of this, currently, flirting with or below the freezing mark in most locations, slightly above that, as you go into southern new jersey most of delaware. but as the day progresses, we expect that these temperatures will continue to essentially climb. specially into tonight. coming up little later in the show we will talk certainly more about the timing on this to get you out the door this evening, but also, about this surge on the thermometer, wait until you see the seven day, jim? >> looking forward to it, thanks, katie. all of the left over snow from the weekends made it difficult for south jersey firefighters get handle on this blaze in paulsboro this morning. chopper three over the intense fire on west broad street, you can see, firefighters had to be very careful navigating the snow covered rooftops, they eventually pulled back, caught the -- fought the flames from

ladder truck on the ground. fire now out. no reports of any injuries, or word on what caused that blaze. >> within the hour, chopper three also over hollow road malvern, chester county. emergency responders there were called for reports of a horse stuck on some ice. the conditions were dangerous, for both the animal and crews. the east white land fire company was able to make the successful rescue, the horse will be checked out by veterinarians. police in salem county investigating how 50-pound dumbbell wound up smashing through an s.u.v. >> the dumbbell critically injured the 75 year old driver. now this all happened in oldman township the victim driving south on the new jersey turnpike, from chopper three you can see, the huge hole in the windshield. weight struck 75 year old jack decarlo in the head. it is similar inside to this one. police don't know where it came f they are asking anyone with possible information to call new jersey state police. and police in frankford are searching for a carload of armed suspect who robbed two people and shot one of them. thirty year old man says three

mask men jumped from car along griscomb street about 1:00 this morning and announced a robbery. he resisted. the men shot him twice in the hip. he is now in stable condition. eighteen year old woman was also robbed in a similar way at the frankford transportation center. and police hope you can help them track down burglary suspect who forced his way into four different south philly fast-food restaurants christmas eve. suspect broke into burger king and got into the cash registers. police think the same suspect broke into three restaurants on the morning of the 29th. kfc west oregon avenue and at chick fell a, and burger king on columbus boulevard, of course if you recognize the suspect call police. and as the trump administration gets ready to take over, president obama getting ready for tonight's farewell address. he will deliver it in his adopted hometown of chicago where he started his political career. the president is expected to tell americans not to lose fate in their future, no matter what they think about their next president. and the president's farewell address airs tonight at 9:00.

you can see it here on cbs-3. >> meantime the man hoping to become the next attorney general facing tough questions regarding past allegations of racial comments. cbs news correspondent michelle mcluso with more details on today's confirmation hearings. >> senator jeff sessions made his case in front of the senate panel. why he should be the next u.s. attorney general. >> so i come before you today as a colleague, whose worked with you for years, and some of you, 20 years. you know who i am. >> but not all of his colleagues will be friendly. senator cory booker and congressman john lewis will testify against senator sessions' nomination because of his record on civil rights. sessions was denied a federal judgeship in 1986 when the re february can-led committee rejected his nomination, because witnesses reported he used racially offensive language. >> these are false charges. >> democrats also questioned senator sessions commitment to the voting rights act. legislation would protect

suspect almost an hour and a half overnight. it all began when officers spot add man believed to be responsible for attempted murder over the weekend. the man eventually drove to the 405 freeway, was stopped every so often, to taunt the officers chasing him. finally ended when officers surrounded his car and a police dog took down the suspect. on the cbs-3 health watch, vaccine mistake means hundreds of children in ocean county may need to be re vaccinated, those given in manahawken may not have been properly row fridge rated which means that the vaccines could be lessee negative. it includes measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, several others, so children vaccinated between november 2014 and july 2016 will be notified by the health companiment something to keep in mind there. >> new lawsuit by two government agencies accuses the company behind the dietary supplement of misleading it customers. >> the supplement sold in pharmacist nationwide. marketed as way to help improve memory.

>> correspondent hena warner shows us how the lawsuit seeks for refunds from the user. >> clinically shown to improve memory. >> the ads for it are hard to miss, for supplement promising to improve cognitive skills. the break through in prevagan allowing to you stay as sharp as possible. >> there are some pretty extravagant claims made. >> the problem? new york attorney general, eric sneiderman, says the company that makes it, can't back it up. >> it is really very straightforward broad advertising claim. >> what's more he believes that aggressive marketing targets a vulnerable group. older americans. >> they were making a lot of money off of this,. >> bottle of prevagan can cost as much as $69. according to the government from 2007 to 2015, americans bought $165 million worth. the joint complaint by the attorney general, and the federal trade commission, says the company's own clinical

comes to the evening travels. and at the moment there is snow working it way through. it looks a lot more than it at the ground level. i found a camera where i've seen some flurries. snow out there, but start things off by tacking you out to one of the spots, very likely see some icing take place later on. you can see, hear from hotel bethlehem, all looks totally fine right now in this area, but, ya, i don't think that little blue car would have the easiest time, you know, moving up main street here, come 6:00 tonight. that's when the winter weather advisory goes into effect. right now visibility pretty good. clouds are building in for us, and i'll show you another camera shot next, in our live neighborhood network. i did see pretty decent batch of just really flurries working their way throughout side whitfield elementary school. this is one spot out in berks county where the snow did manage to survive at the ground level. but it is not accumulating anything. we will get to this storm scan view in a second here. but we came from just 23 degrees yesterday. today, we warm up into the upper 30's, but, come

thursday, we will be flirting with 60. so just this is very significant warm up. that comes courtesy of two separate warmfronts, the first of which comes in tonight, the next of which comes in tomorrow night. look at some of the warmth already starting to build. st. louis, 60 degrees right now. obviously, doing the math, very substantial difference from us. thirty solid degrees difference. we will be flirting with those values in the days ahead. so, not bad trade off for this, yes it, looks very, very menacing here locally, but more than anything, this little batch back here, rolling through as we head into the early evening. so yes you might see few flurries. i don't think you have to worry too much about travel the next few hours. it is mainly p.m. rush. 6:00 again is when the winter weather advisory takes effect for those northwest most counties, it is just rain producer mainly overnight, for philly, and on southeast, so i-95, immediate vicinity just to the northwest, where you will find the rain. but it is just a little too cold at the onset in those northwest most counties. putting a different way,

poconos, snow, sleet mix, over to freezing rain. lehigh valley snow and freezing rain over to plane rain. northwest suburbs we talked about, western montgomery, upper berks, brief mix as well as bit of ice, eventually turning over to rain. so the rest of you you, worry about what roads as opposed to icy roads. at least good news. meanwhile, as we look forward in this eyewitness weather seven day forecast, take a look, there you go, on thursday, flirting with 60 degrees. now, along the way, again, we will have two separate frontal boundaries passing through, the first comes late tonight, that's warmfront number one. the next comes along late tomorrow night, with additional showers, pretty possible into thursday morning. but that's where we end up, so you'll have two separate batches of warmth basically just working their way in. by friday, still pretty mild. more clouds. see some sun filter through as well. then we head into the upcoming weekend. another disturbance comes along much colder air obviously as we take 16 degrees hit from one day to the next. that will be our next chance, key word chance, for rain and some snow. that will be something that we have to continue to monitor.

but meantime, again, the big threat for now is that northern half of our area where we end up with some icing concerns for the p.m. drive today. jim, back over to you. >> little bit of everything, thanks, katie. just few days away from one of the years first gala's of the year, it is the alex lemonade stand foundation 11th annual lemon ball. here to tell us about the evening to celebrate the life of alex scott, while also raising funds to help children fighting cancer, as alex's mom, liz scott, along with sherrie and her daughter charlotte, diagnosed when cancer when she was just three years old, we're happy to say she doing wonderfully today. liz, thank you as always for all of the work you do. how many people are you specking to the ball. >> expecting over 900 people, tickets are still on sale, still available, opportunity to come out and see what it is all about. >> for people who haven't been to the ball, describe it? what's the event like? >> it is what you expect. it is auctions, dancing, but i think it is truely inspirational.

we have three award winners this year, honoring local school, alex's school, family from minnesota, family from new jersey, both cancer fighting families who raised a lot of money. and people, i think, just leave feeling inspired and ready to help, and really just ready to kind of make the most of their lives. >> now, explain how the money raised by the lemon ball and other events help fight pediatric cancer? >> well, alex lemonade stand funded funds research all over the country. so we've now funded nearly 700 research project at over 160 locations, truly try to find the best project that have the best hope for bringing cures to kids with cancer. that's where the money goes. >> so sherrie this has affected your life very personally because of charlotte here. so what happened as far as charlotte was concerned when she was three? >> she was diagnosed with blastoma, had cancer in the central nervous system, so she had brain surgery to remove the tumor. then she had her treatment at chop. and then she relapsed at five. and we went to m.d. anderson

for treatment after a second surgery. they gave her 20% chance at relapse. and she is now 14, and doing very well. she has delayed effect, but doing well. >> charlotte is a fighter. >> very excited for saturday, that's for sure. >> how is it being involved with alex's lemonade stand foundation? obviously not only the financial support to help with the research but also the moral support as well. >> it is, they're like family to us now, have been with them for so long. it is amazing to know you're making a impact, to be able to personally thank donors, it is amazing. >> so charlotte, you're one of alex's heroes, congratulations. you're fighter. so what are you going to be doing the night of the ball? >> i'm going to be standing in front of my sign telling people about my story and thanking them for alex's lemonade stands. >> you have a good sales pitch, i hope. because you want people to write out big checks that night. we're counting on you, charlotte. well, this is just great. i know everyone looks forward to this, one of the premiere
