at 5:00 until 7:00 a new twist into the death of the former ceo. john sheridan and his wife a murder suicide, their four sons have been working to clear fear father's name. one of their sons tells alexandria hoff a change by the new jersey medical examiner is the first step in the direction. >> reporter: amending john sheridan's manner of death from self inflicting to undetermined changing a lot. >> at least in part, huge wrong has been made right. >> reporter: six months after cooper hospital ceo john sheridan and his wife joyce were found dead inside of their scorched new jersey home in sent of 2014, investigators in somerset county concluded that john had fatally stabbed his wife then himself after setting their house on fire. a motive was never determined. >> it does seem that debbie

this point as this has been a particularly violent week here in the city. all of the investigations into the shooting are ongoing at this hour. we're live at police headquarters, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news" >> thank you. the justice department released a progress report on the philadelphia police department's reform effort. the feds found the department made significant progress toward implementing its recommendations which focused on deadly force used that just proportionately affects minority communities >> all these things that the department has to deal with and perform police service to the community while implementing significant changes is extremely impressive. i wanted to make the announcement i think in many ways philadelphia police department will be a mole for the rest of the country >> the efforts began in march of 2014 some key areas included an update to its use of force policy and body camera usage.

the police department requested the federal probe in 2013 another federal probe of the chicago police department is found that officers there have been violating people's constitutional rights for years. the justice department says chicago police have displayed a longstanding pattern of using excessive force even killing people who didn't pose a threat. the justice department and chicago officials will start negotiateses on the reforms to the police department. the report mentions the 2014 shooting who was shot by a white officer calling his death a tipping point. >> we're one week away from inauguration day an advisor for donald trump said the president-elect will be in washington on monday preparing for the big day. mr. trump took to twitter today to again deny russia has comprising information. he calls the allegations make news. meanwhile iconic congressman is boycotting the inauguration, he

tries to move in, it will get eaten away. by about 1:00 we start to see snow, notice a little bit of ice off to the south, snow to the north and west, possibly plain rain down the shore. once the sun goes down around 6:00, temperatures around freezing, any rain or sleet that falls could start to freeze in spots, especially untreated surfaces, bridges overpasses, that's when you want to play it safe. by 7:00 we start to see this move out. we'll clear the skies late tomorrow, any time between 1:00 and 11:00 p.m. tomorrow, light snow, sleet possibly freezing drizzle. could be slick conditions especially after sundown, looking at very limited amounts up to an inch of snow and slush less than 300ths of an inch of ice mainly off to our south, watch out, if you see rain falling check your them
