way. i'm sorry. >> reporter: at last minute a medical complication prevented the transplant with glenn, that is when nina's mom became the only hope. >> it has been very difficult for us. but, we kept fighting. >> reporter: nina's mom, who is a nurse, was only temporarily allowed in the united states for the transplant. >> i want to thank high grand mom for saving my mom, now we have swim and we can have snowball fights. >> reporter: eight year-old nicholas said his whom no longer needed dialysis for auto immune disease that destroyed the 34 year-old's kidneys. >> it makes me happy to see that these people cared about my health. >> reporter: nina and her mom are both doing well recovering from the transplant, and the state department, by the way refused to let her mom in this country fearful she would stay because of the family connections but mom says she is headed back to eastern europe in just a few days. nina, by the way says she's thinking of becoming a dialysis nurse.

"eyewitness news" reporter joe holden is live in center city with more details on the penalty, joe. >> reporter: well, jessica, ukee ethics board said it negotiated with seth williams and his attorney to reached that $62,000 penalty, they say , it is a financial hit, they are confident that it send a strong message. >> it is just a scale have of this is significant. >> reporter: philadelphia ethics board on tuesday leveled a significant and sizable fine, against district

attorney seth williams. williams was said to have cooperated in reaching the settlement, with the ethics board. it comes with a $62,000 fine, for failing to disclose on financial interests statements , five sources of income, and 89 gifts according to the paperwork. shayne creamer is executive director of the board. >> this is the largest, penalty that the board has ever assessed against an individual. it is the largest fine anyone has ever been required to pay. >> reporter: williams was also find $2,840 for additional gifts given by defense attorneys quoting the board who had a financial interest that the the district attorney was able to substantially affect through official action at the time that they gave the gifts. seth williams first found himself on the city watch dog 's radar in the summer when he disclosed five years worth of those gifts. a spokesmen at the time said they were from close family friend. the gifts included
